Hi out there. Hope you enjoy reading this story I'm putting together. I have a good idea where it's going. WARNING!!! This tale does make references to some paedophilic background. Not graphic. I do not intend to go into too much detail. Please don’t read if you are offended by this kind of thing. I know I am, but I also believe that it should be brought out into the open. It happens. I know. I wish it didn’t. But it is part of Jane’s/Nina’s background. It helps to understand why she is the way she is. This is my first attempt at writing anything other then the odd letter or card to friends. Its not beta’d. Just me re-reading it over and over and over (sigh)
S.S. and the gang are not mine unfortunately. I think the rest belong to me but who knows. Maybe I have picked them up somewhere and they’ve hung around in my subconscious. I don’t know. If they are mine, J.K. I’ll do you a swap. All of mine for S.S. If they’re not mine then who ever they do belong to, I’m sorry and you can have ‘em straight back when I’ve finished this story. There. That seems fair. Doesn’t it?

Chapter 1 Down on the farm
As usual, Molly Weasley was doing her best to make sure that her family of red headed children, along with one dark haired Harry Potter and one bushy haired Hermione Granger, did not miss the train to Hogwarts. And, as usual, they were running late. Every year it was the same. They would set off and one of them would shout that they forgot something, they would have to turn back and retrieve it before they could continue to Kings X station. They only had five minutes left before the Hogwarts Express was due to depart, and as usual the station was packed with muggles.
The group approached the barrier and discovered that there were at least another three families waiting to go through to platform 9¾
. Everyone was hustling and bustling and no one noticed the small, scruffy, dark haired girl in the middle of them all, being jostled closer and closer towards the barrier. Nor did anyone notice anything out of the ordinary when they came into contact with the young girl.
Jane had been hanging out at kings x station for nearly three weeks now, managing to dodge the guards and evade the security personnel. Being small for her age did have advantages. Today was her birthday. She was seventeen years old, she had long dark hair and her eyes were of the deepest black. Her clothes were several sizes too big for her and easily hid her well developed body. If any one was to take notice of her they would have believed her to be twelve or thirteen. She was able to hide in the tightest of spaces if she thought she had been noticed. Nighttimes were the hardest, avoiding some of the more unsavoury types that also normally hung around large city stations. They were always on the look out for new arrivals. Youngsters that looked like they hadn’t a clue why they were there or what to do next. In other words, runaways. More than once she'd been approached by some seemingly kind gentleman who would ask her if she was looking for somewhere to stay, that if she went with them they would give her somewhere to sleep and look after her. She knew though, that if she went with any one of them she would end up on her back in some filthy back street room or working the streets. She knew what these men really wanted. Uncle Pete the bastard, had begun teaching her shortly after her fourteenth birthday. She had lived with her aunt Aggie and Uncle Pete since her parents had died when she was three. They weren’t her real aunt and Uncle. She had gone through the system and ended up here at Falls farm with foster parents. At least that is what they had told her and she had no reason to believe any different. She was sent to the local village primary school until she was ten, It was only a small school. There were forty seven pupils altogether. Then she was put to work full time on the farm. When she asked why she was not allowed to go to the local comprehensive school along with her classmates, aunt Aggie told her that it wasn’t necessary, and would not discuss it any further.
Aunt Aggie liked to drink herself to unconsciousness each Friday night. Friday night was when Uncle Pete would come to her bedroom. She hated the things Uncle Pete made her do with him. She told aunt Aggie about it, but aunt Aggie slapped her and called her a liar and told her that if she tried to tell her dirty rotten lies to any one ever again she would beat her within an inch of her life. When Uncle Pete found out that she told on him he came to her room in the middle of the night' he'd been particularly brutal with her. She screamed but he held his hand over her mouth and nose and she couldn’t breath. He was a big man and strong. He had large, rough hands and strong arms. His belly was enormous, but solid. The little bit of hair he still had left was kept cut close to his scalp. He had small piggy eyes, a nose that seemed to be too small for his great ugly face and big lips that always seemed to be wet. That was the night he decided to go all the way with her. That was the night when she lost her virginity. She was only thirteen when he first begun to come to her and fourteen when he had taken her fully for the first time. Too scared to speak of it again, she kept quiet about those nights. She would close off her mind when he came into the room. Always he would tell her how lucky she was that he was willing to be with her. “Not many would be willin’ to lay with summat as ugly as you ya know. No wonder ya parents upt an died like they did” They were the only times her parents were ever mentioned. She did not remember them. Aunt Aggie used to tell she was ugly. She had no reason to disbelieve them. She never questioned it. Two years she put up with it and she could take no more. Aunt Aggie had gone into hospital, they did not tell her the reason but she was gone for nearly two weeks and Uncle Pete was determined to take full advantage of that fact. He took her whenever and wherever he felt like it now. That was why she left. With no money to her name and no one to turn to, she spent several weeks living in the woods. She knew how to survive in amongst the trees. Uncle Pete would sometimes take her hunting with him. Mainly so he could torment her. He enjoyed making her skin and gut whatever creature he had managed to snare in his traps. Everything from rabbits to deer. But he taught her too well and showed her the right way to do what needed to be done.
Usually though, she managed to find some cubbyhole to crawl into and sleep. Her days were spent watching the passengers milling about waiting for their trains and she would watch to see if they would leave anything behind. She was not looking for anything valuable. Many of them would leave a half-eaten sandwich or a part packet of crisps. Children would leave their sweets behind, some one left nearly a full portion of fish and chips once. She would loiter as close to them as she possibly could and as soon as they took e few steps away she would grab whatever was there and scoot of to eat it. This was how she survived. She knew that many of the other homeless who hung around here would happily pick a few pockets to get what they wanted, but it wasn’t her way. She would not feel right if she resorted to stealing and had vowed never to do so.
Hermione was chatting happily to Ginny about the upcoming NEWTS. Ginny was trying to look interested but was really thinking about how much she was looking forward to seeing Dean Thomas. They had been keeping in touch with each other over the summer by owl, and once a week in the early hours of the morning, they would talk in the floo. Harry and Ron were, as usual, animatedly discussing quiddich. Well, Ron was, Harry was just nodding and making the right noises every so often. When they finally reached the barrier it was with only two minutes to spare and Molly was feeling frazzled. “Right you lot, no more messing. Just get through together, NOW! So they went. All at once. When they arrived on platform 9 , no one noticed the small, scruffy dark haired girl that had got pushed through along with them. As the boys began heaving the trunks onto the train and Hermione and Ginny went of to find a compartment, Mrs Weasley sighed with relief. The whistle had just blown and the engine was blowing steam ready to go. Just as the guard was closing the doors on the train, she noticed a small scruffy dark haired girl standing on the edge of the platform looking rather confused. In her usual brisk, but caring way, Molly went up to her. “Come along dear. Nervous? Don’t be. You’ll soon make friends.” As she was saying this, she had lifted the girl up, put her into the nearest carriage, and closed the door. Mrs Weasley didn’t feel anything strange when she lifted the young girl into the train. In fact, by the time she apperated back to the Burrow, Molly Weasley had forgotten all about the girl on platform 9¾
. The train began to move.
The four friends found an empty compartment about two thirds of the way down the train. “Right.” Said Hermione “Ron and I have to go to the prefect’s carriage to get our instructions and then check on the first years, make sure they’re alright and behaving and then we’ll be back. See you guys soon.”
“Harry, get the chess set out of my trunk will you and when we get back I can thrash you,” Ron said grinning.
“Okay.” Harry didn’t want to play chess, but he got it out anyway. Just so Ron wouldn’t nag at him when he came back.
“Come on Ron. I don’t want to be late for the meeting.”
After nearly an hour with the other prefects and the head girl and boy, Ron and Hermione left to go check on the first years.
“Wonder why we're been met by our professors at Hogsmead?” “Isn’t it obvious Ron. They must be expecting trouble from You-know-Who.
According to the Daily Prophet, groups of Death Eaters have been reportedly seen all over the country this summer and, although none of them have been sighted near Hogsmead yet, they won’t want to take any chances.” Neither of them noticed the young dark haired girl crouching in the shadows near the exit door of the carriage they were walking through.
She had been so surprised when she was suddenly pushed through what had looked to her like a solid barrier and onto a platform that she had never seen before, she didn’t even hear the woman come up behind her and put her on the train. She vaguely heard something along the lines of “don’t…nervous……..friends” Next thing she knew the door had been closed and the train began to move. Students were milling up and down looking for seats and classmates and because she didn’t know what else to do, she crouched in the corner until she could figure out what to do next. She was about to get up and start looking around when she heard someone coming. As the two were walking past, they were talking about Death Eaters. She didn’t know what a Death Eater was. She waited a bit longer and when it looked like the coast was clear, she scooted along the narrow corridor to the back of the train to the very last carriage and hid amongst the multitude of trunks, cases and crates in there. Having no idea how long she would have to wait until she could get off, she settled into a corner and slept. For the next hour, the young girl slept. When she awoke, a soft sheen of sweat covered he face and she gasped for breath for a few minutes when she looked around, panicked, not remembering where she was. Slowly, her senses came back to her. Her breathing calmed and she relaxed a little.
The faint sound of voices came from further up the train. She was hungry. She'd not eaten anything since yesterday afternoon. Someone had left a full cheeseburger on the ground. It was in a box and still warm. Such a treat was rare so she swooped in and grabbed it, ignoring the disgusted looks of passers by. Food was food. She could not afford to be choosy.
The train finally began to slow down. It was dark outside as it came to a halt at Hogsmead station.
She could feel the train slowing and then coming to a shuddering halt. Earlier, feeling bored, she'd taken a look around the carriage she was in and had found an old cloak behind one of the many crates along one side. It looked like the cloaks that the boy and girl she had seen earlier were wearing. After giving it a good shake to get rid of some of the dust and dirt from it, she put it on. With a bit of luck she would not be noticed by anyone when she got off the train.
Crowds of children began to climb out of the train. Excited voices shouted over one another. Some carrying owls or cats, frogs or rats, all of which were screeching, yowling, croaking or squeaking. A deep booming voice shouted “over ere, firs years over ere”. As the hoard of schoolchildren walked passed the guards van at the back of the train, a small figure stepped out, mingling with them for a moment before slipping through a door marked private at the side of the station.
‘Please let the door be unlocked’ she thought, as she carefully made her way through the crowd and across to the back of the station. No light showed beneath the door so it was odds on that no one would be in there. “Lady Luck must be with me tonight” she said to herself as she closed the door behind her. Her stomach gave a loud rumble. Ignoring it, she sat in the dust, just inside the door to wait for everything to go quiet outside. She could here older voices telling everyone to get a move on. They were telling them to get into carriages and stop dawdling. ‘Must be getting onto another train she thought.’ Things eventually went quiet and she carefully opened the door a crack. The place looked empty now so she walked out of the room and closed the door behind her. She headed off in the direction she had seen the others leave and out of the station. ‘No point hanging around here. It’s only a tiny place.’ Hoping to find somewhere to bed down for the night, she headed into Hogsmead village.
She walked down the main street, looking around and wondering what to do for the best. Everywhere was closed. The shops were all in darkness. There was an inn across the road that was open but since she did not have any money, she carried on. A few people were milling around. On their way home, or to The Three Broomsticks. Or, if you weren’t fussy about the company you kept, The Hogs Head Inn.
Her stomach growled loudly again. “Shut up.” She said, looking down at her stomach. “I haven’t got anything to eat and I have no money to buy any, so complaining about it won’t make a blind bit of difference.”
Unable to find anywhere to doss down for the night she walked down the road that, unbeknownst to her, led to Hogwarts. Thinking maybe she could find a barn or something to hole up in for the night she carried on. Although she didn’t know, the exact moment that she entered the village of Hogsmead was, in fact also the exact time she had been born, seventeen years ago. After about half an hour trudging along the road and looking out into the fields off to the sides, seeking somewhere to shelter she noticed a large cluster of lights up ahead. Picking up her pace a little she headed towards them. The closer she got the more she couldn’t believe her own eyes. It was a castle. A big castle. A bloody enormous castle. It seemed that every window in the place had was lit up. She had never seen anything so beautiful in her life. Coming to a large set of gates set between two large pillars topped with what appeared to be pigs heads, only with big tusks sticking out of the sides of their mouths. The walls to either side of were high enough that she had to crane her neck to see the top. Thinking she might be able to ask for work come tomorrow, she put her hand to the massive gate and was surprised when it opened for her. She went through. Maybe there was a shed behind the castle where she could spend the night.
Inside the great hall the sorting hat had just finished its song and professor MacGonagall was about to begin calling out the names of the first years for sorting. Headmaster Dumbledor and the four heads of house froze. They had all felt it. That breaching of the wards. It was only momentary and then they had settled back again but, someone or something had definitely come through them. The headmaster nodded to Professor MacGonagall to continue with the sorting as he, along with professors Sprout, Flitwick and Snape went through to the ante room behind the staff table.
The older students watched the staff table, serious looks on their faces. No one ever left the great hall during a sorting ceremony. They knew something was amiss.
Soon the headmaster returned to his seat at the head table and the sorting continued. The three heads of house who left with him, had not returned.
As professor Sprout headed towards the east of the castle and Professor Flitwick went west side, Professor Severus Snape however, was vacating the castle through a little known door, hidden from view to anyone outside. The door he used when he was called to see The Dark Lord. It would not do to walk through the main hall in his Death Eater robes. He slunk quietly through the shadows thrown out from the building behind him, wand at the ready, and headed towards the Forbidden Forest. He was just about to head in when something in the corner of his eye caught his attention. A small figure just inside the trees and only a few feet away. Silently he sent a stunning spell at the figure before it could go behind the next tree and watched as it fell to the ground. Severus, still cautious in case anyone else was around, went over to the dark shape now laid in a huddle on the damp earth. “A bloody student”.
“Enervate” he said. At the same time he sent a shower of green sparks into the sky to let the others know that everything was alright.
The girl opened her eyes and groaned, wondering what had happened. Looking up, her eyes widened in terror. She opened her mouth to scream but nothing came out. There was a tall dark man stood looking down at her. Only it wasn’t a man, it was a BLOODY FUCKING ‘VAMPIRE.’ ’No’ her mind said ’vampires’ don’t exist’. ‘She had seen them on the telly of course. But that was pretend, wasn‘t it?‘ ‘There are NO ‘VAMPIRES,’ she told herself. But the ‘vampire’ was standing right there, watching her mouth open and close, looking at her. A real live….no…dead ‘vampire.’ She knew then that it was going to bite her and kill her or ..or….’Oh God, it’ll make me a ‘vampire’ too.’ She wanted to run. ’Come on girl, just get up and run, run into the trees and maybe it wont catch you, run. But she couldn’t move. ’Move’ she told herself ’move, move, move. Oh why couldn‘t she move.’ “Please, d don’t b b bite me” she whispered. Severus could not properly hear what she was saying, so he leaned down towards her. He put out his hand ready to pull her to her feet and she let out a blood curdling scream. Severus practically jumped out of his skin. Professors Sprout and Flitwick had just arrived as she screamed and when the girl saw them she tried to scramble to her feet to get away from the ‘vampire’ that had almost bitten her. Slithering in the muck she managed to reach the two startled professors standing on the lawn. “Vampire” she shouted at them. “VampireVampireVampire” “We have to run.” Quick she shouted grabbing at the stout woman on front of her and trying with all her might to pull and push the woman to move, to run with her, to get away from the ’vampire.’ But the woman and the peculiar little man next to her did not run. Pamona Sprouts shoulders started to shake.
She turned to the funny little man at the side of her. Eyes pleading and full of tears. “Please, we have to get away from here. It’s going to kill us.” Fillius Flitwick could not hold back any longer and he burst out laughing. Soon to be joined by Sprout.
“Your mad! Your bloody mad” she yelled at them.
Severus couldn’t believe the whole charade. And Pamona and Fillius weren’t helping. Rolling around laughing like the brainless fools
they were. He grabbed the girl, who was kicking and screaming like a banshee by this time, by the arm, and started dragging her towards the main doors of the castle. “SHUT UP!” he yelled at her. Only she didn’t. “SILENCE!” he shouted. But she still kept screaming and he was getting a headache now. Aiming his wand into the girls face he said “Silencio”. She went instantly silent. ‘Managing to bring her free hand round, quick as a flash she punched him. Her aim swung high and her fist connected with Severus’ left cheek bone and the side of his nose. “OOFH!” “You bloody little hell cat.” Severus staggered a little but he did not loosen his grip on the girl. Instead he picked her up and threw her onto his shoulder like a sack of potatoes, while she tried to pull his hair and banged her fists against his back. Severus was mighty fed up by this time, and sore, he raised his right hand and gave her bottom an almighty thwack, then continued to carry her towards the main doors. “ There are more to come if you do not behave yourself.“ he said to her. She stilled. ‘Ow, that hurt like hell‘ she thought. “Assaulting a teacher, calling me a vampire, to my face no less, screaming at me, not to mention being late for school, breaching the wards,” ‘how the hell did she get through the wards? And the gates were locked.’ “Oh I do hope you are a Griffindor. This would put their house points into the negative for at least two years.” Severus was muttering to himself all the way to the main entrance. Better still, he would have her expelled. Yes, that’s what he would do.’
Severus limped into the main entrance, she had at some point kicked him hard in the shins and bitten his right leg, to find Dumbledor and MacGonagall waiting for them. Sprout and Flitwick had somehow managed to make it through the doors just behind him and were still giggling like a pair of idiotic schoolgirls. That was Severus’ opinion anyway.
Minerva MacGonagall and Albus Dumbledor took in Severus’ dishevelled state, his blackened eye and bloodied nose, the rips in his robes. They had noticed him limping when he walked in the door and he was panting. And then gazes went to the girl over his shoulder. She was beginning to wriggle a bit but at as Severus tightened his grip slightly, she stilled again. Too scared to move yet. They looked at the two professors behind Severus who by this time had managed to calm themselves down somewhat, though it was obvious by their faces and tear filled eyes that if either of them attempted to speak they would only burst into hysterical laughter again. “Severus, perhaps you would
like to put the young lady down, we can go up to my office.” As soon as the girl heard new voices she began to renew her struggle. Because the vampire had such a tight hold on her she knew she could not get down so, she decided to attack from the back.
“I think headmaster, that it would be prudent to bring her as she is. I will release her into your tender care once we are there.”
“Very well Severus.” Albus sent Pomona and Fillius on their way and the four of them headed up to the headmasters office. By the time Severus had passed the gargoyle that guarded the entrance to the headmasters office, she had managed to pull his robe and his frock coat up and, unable to think of anything else to do, she shoved her hands down the back of his trousers, grabbed what she hoped was the waistband of his underpants and pulled with every bit of strength she had left. Severus let out a most peculiar high pitched grunt. More of a squeak really.
‘She felt like she was going to be sick. The vampire still had her. She couldn’t make a sound. She knew she was going to die soon. Or worse, she would become one of them. ‘I wonder what its like to have to feed off someone’s blood’ She felt sick. Her bottom stung like hell. She felt sick. She was probably trapped forever in the vampires lair now, and it sounded like they were all either nutters or vampires. She felt sick. Every time the vampire took one of his long strides her stomach lurched. Now they were on some kind of stairway that moved on its own. Up and round, up and round. Plus she could not get the thought out of her head that she might end up having to drink blood. ‘Oh why couldn’t she speak?’ ‘I need to speak, “I AM GOING TO BE SI……
Before she could finish her sentence, she vomited all down the potion masters back. Severus froze. The sound of retching and the stench of vomit making him want to gag. He stepped into the office at the top of the stairs and promptly dropped his bundle onto the nearest chair. His face was a mixture of rage, disbelief, disgust and determination. Determined that he would not throw up in front of the headmaster and his sidekick, Minerva MacGonagall.
Severus Snape; Death Eater, spy for the Order of the Phoenix, Hogwarts professor, potions master and snarky bastard extraordinaire, could kill with his bare hands. He could flay another human being and not bat an eyelid. He could see and do many things but, Severus Snape could not handle someone being sick. The girl retched and threw up again. It was just too much for him as he bent over and lost the contents of his stomach all over the headmasters floor. During all of this, none of them realised that Severus had not yet lifted the silencing spell from the girl, even though she shouted at them that she was going to be sick. Sometime during these events, Madam Pomfrey had been called and after taking quick stock of the situation, she went to the young girl slumped over the chair.
“Alright” Pomfrey said to the girl, “I am just going to check you over and then we can see what needs to be done.” As she was speaking she was running her wand up and down in front of the girl and watching the symbols that were hovering just above her. “Here you are dear,” drink this and you will be fine.” Madam Pomfrey handed the girl a small phial.
By this time Severus had stopped retching and was wondering how he could get his pants out of his crack without anybody noticing.
The girl looked at the label on the phial and then checked the date on it. Holding it up to the light she studied the colour of the liquid inside. Then, after giving it a good sniff, “Hmm peppermint, cinnamon and rock salt.” She swallowed it down and in less than a minute she no longer felt sick. Albus, who had been watching and listening along with the others, said nothing, though his blue eyes were twinkling merrily. Severus eyebrows raised a couple of notches. Not that anyone would notice as his face was screwed up from the discomfort of the blasted ‘wedgie’ he’d received from the little hellcat in the chair. As Pomfrey handed Severus an identical phial the girl said “Do us all a favour and add some crushed garlic and a pinch of powdered silver to that before he drinks it. That way we might all survive the night.” Minerva looked at her, “why on earth would he need garlic and silver?” “It would seem” said Albus, who could no longer keep the grin from his face, “that the young lady believes that our potions master is a vampire. Trust me young lady when I tell you that we do not have vampires in this school. Now, first perhaps you would be kind enough to tell us your name.”
“It’s Jane; and I know now that he isn’t a vampire.”
“Oh, and how do you know?” asked Severus.
“I don’t know how I know. I just do. You’re a Death Eater, whatever one of those is, and a spy for the Order of the Phoenix, whatever that is.” There was a collective gasp around the room.
Waving her hand at Minerva and Poppy she said “they’re in it too.“ “And tell me Jane, how did you come to be in our school grounds? You are not a student here.”
“I was hoping to find work here come morning and I was just scouting around for somewhere to kip for the night when I was attacked by that vampire over there.” she sad, pointing at the potions master. “yes, I know, he’s not a vampire. He looks like one though.”
“I did not attack you, you attacked me. Headmaster, I need to use your bathroom. Now.”
“Over there Severus” Much to the amusement of the adults present in the room, Professor Snape kind of waddled across the office with a terrifying scowl on his face. Madam Pomfrey spoke up “Severus, perhaps I should come with you. You really are walking funny.”
Severus glared at the medi witch when he said to her “Poppy. I have not needed assistance to go to the bathroom since I was a very small child and I certainly do not need it now.” “But….” “No buts Poppy. I shall be back in a minute.” He slammed the bathroom door behind him.
She looked at the headmaster. “Albus. It could be something serious.”
“No it's not. I gave him a ruddy big wedgie because he wouldn’t put me down and I couldn’t tell anyone I was going to throw up.”
Minerva, who had been ordering tea and sandwiches from the kitchens, via the floo burst out laughing and fell into the armchair near the fireplace. Albus tried to keep a serious face but could not stop his lips from twitching when he told Jane, “It is not a good idea to go giving wedgies to our staff members Jane. But I do understand that you were frightened and that you were only acting in self defence.” “Yeh, well he wouldn’t put me down. And he slapped my bum. It still hurts.”
“I smacked you because it seemed to be the only way to stop your ridiculous tantrum.” “It was not a tantrum. I thought you were going to drink my blood. What did you expect me to do, ask you if you wanted it with ice and lemon?”
Albus sat behind his desk studying the girl. “Tell me Jane, what is your full name?” “Jane White. Why?”
Severus quietly walked over to sit next to Minerva near to the fireplace.
“How old are you Jane?” “Seventeen. Today actually. Can I please have one of those sandwiches? I haven’t eaten since yesterday.” Minerva, much to Severus’ disappointment, picked up the full tray of food from under his nose and put it on the girls knee. “Here of you are dear. You must be starving” Jane didn’t even say thank you. She just started cramming food into her mouth as fast as she could. Who knew when she would get to eat again. No one said a word. They just watched as the food disappeared into her mouth, barely being swallowed before more was shoved in. When she had eaten her fill she took the napkin and began to put what was left into it so she could put it in her pocket for later. The plate kept filling back up and she couldn’t fit them all in to just one napkin. She was just looking round to see if another was available when Albus gently put his hand on hers. She jumped and he removed his hand quickly. She was so wrapped up in what she was doing that the headmasters approach had taken her by surprise. “Child, you do not need to do that. You shall not go hungry while you are at Hogwarts.”
Jane looked up into the headmasters eyes. As soon as he had taken her hand, she suddenly knew and felt so many things that she felt dizzy. So much was swimming around in her head, mingling with other strange things that she had somehow come to know since she stepped onto, no, got pushed onto that platform back at Kings X. It was all too much for Jane and she keeled over and would have fallen to the floor had the headmaster not caught her in time. “Poppy, I think it would be best to take the young lady to the hospital wing. Any further questions can wait until tomorrow.” With that, Poppy threw some powder into the fire and when the flames turned green, she stepped through, the young girl drifting behind her, still unconscious.
