I'll Never Let You Go
"Severus? We need to know what she used and what spells are on it."
Severus could barely hear Minerva's voice.
All he was really aware of was Hermione lying there unconscious, and it looked like she had done everything in her power to prevent them from waking her up.
"Was it a knife? Severus, we can't stop the bleeding until we find out what she used!"
Everything she was saying was true. He was losing the one person he had
learnt to love. Staring again at the words of the note she left he
focused on one line.
I am truly sorry, but it is a fitting way for me to go; the
insufferable know-it-all writes herself to death …
Severus looked at the words etched on her arms, and on closer inspection, realised they were far too neatly done to have been carved with a knife.
"Minerva, what did you find in her room?" he asked suddenly.
"I have told you already, nothing except a quill and some books." Minerva replied irritably.
"Umbridge's quill; she's modified it so that it won't heal!"
Severus jumped up and headed out of the hospital wing
"Severus, wait! Stay with her I'll fetch the quill." With that Minerva
bustled out of the hospital wing. But not before she heard a broken man whisper…
"I'll never let you go."
