Chapter Title: Effects of Uncovering Truth
Harry stared out into the night, trying to sort out his thoughts and understand where the pain was coming
from in his heart. It was something he could not understand, for he had finally gained the head-start on
everybody else, but, for whatever reason, he felt a sharp pain deep within his own heart and for no reason
that he could think of to begin with. The more he thought about it, the more he gained a head-ache and the more
he lost time and understanding.
"Why should I feel pain?" He asked himself quietly, "I have finally realized the truth on this
hellish-disaster, yet all I can feel is this agony that I cannot begin to describe. I do not understand this.
Why should this be when I finally have the answers I have so long sought?" He finally sighed and tore himself
away from the window and faced the darkened cupboard that had served as his home for almost seventeen years, yet
he could not feel any regrets about soon leaving this room for good.
He knew deep within his own mind that the agony was not because he was leaving the place that he should have
been able to call home. He knew that he would not miss any part of the house or even this room, simply what the
room had always resembled for him. It had been a safe haven, somewhere he could run away to when everything hit
the ceiling fans because none of his relatives had ever really liked this room and therefore, they were too good
to have to endure this room to deal with him.
Harry flinched as he remembered the pain of the night before. His uncle was always unpleasant towards him but
always more so when he was 'supposedly' up to something horrible. It was Cousin Dudley's favorite game, taking
the place of Harry Hunting. To see just how much trouble Harry Potter could get himself into with Uncle Vernon.
Aunt Petunia's favorite part was when she could punish him with more chores than he already had, however the
worst part was also Uncle Vernon's favorite time of the day, his own punishment. Harry flinched again,
remembering the whistling that was always shortly followed by a sharp cracking sound.
Harry pushed aside these memories and braced himself for what was to come. He was going to have to be
prepared for anything and everything to happen. Even if he managed to move quickly and quietly enough not to
wake the relatives, he would have to endure physical pain. If he moved slower than usual to avoid the pain,
he would have to endure his relatives just waking up. He decided to go with the lesser of the two evils,
physical pain. That was something that he was used to and didn't have as many issues with it as others
seemed to.
He knew he could endure more pain as long as there was never another night like the one he had just had. He
knew he could not bear it if he had to try to survive another night in this hell-hole he was forced to call his
house. He walked over to the three boxes that were already full and packed, never having been opened in the years
that had passed since he had stuffed them with the contents still hidden in them.
He shrunk the boxes with a wave of his hand and walked over to the trunk that was standing upright in the
upper-left corner of the room. He grabbed it and pulled it silentlly over to the bed and lifted it up. He threw
it gently down on the bed and then slowly lowered himself down to the floor. He scrambled slightly to get under
the bed and pull up the loose floorboards that lay there. He reached in and began to pull out the only priceless
items he had. His father's invisibility cloak, his family photo album, a single tube that held a charcoal drawing,
his sneakoscope, and a small box marked the little that Harry considered too valuable to be replaced.
He rolled them up into the ivisibility cloak and then placed them inside the empty trunk. He shrunk all of his
old schoolbooks and spell books and put them in a small tin box, originally used to hold mints. He eased this
inside of the trunk and walked over to his wardrobe. He decided to take only his school robes and his only dress
robe. He rolled them up gently and placed these inside the trunk as well. He went over to the bedside table. Inside
lay a single worn-out muggle novel by Stephen King, titled 'Kugo' marked with a single phoenix feather and a
Twighlight-logo keychain with seven keys attached. He placed these in the partially-filled trunk.
He went over to the desk and opened the only drawer with anything in it, the top right one. Inside this
drawer lay a black-leather tome, a red-leather drawing book, and a white binder, half-full. He tucked these
three items into the trunk along with the already-shrunken boxes. He walked back over to the desk and pulled out
his laptop bag and a reed-woven tall tube. He shrunk the tube and the bag to about half of their normal size
and placed them inside his trunk. Finally, he grabbed the last possession that he owned that wasn't already inside
the trunk.
The Firebolt was stil in store-bought condition, as it had been given to him by his godfather. he gently shrunk
this as well, already having done the research to find out how to do this properly without damaging the broom. He
tucked it into the trunk and sealed the trunk shut. He waved his hand over the trunk that had almost stood to his
own height. It was now able to be tucked safely into his pocket, where it would be kept safe. He took one last look
around the room and saw that there was nothing left of the boy who had once lived there.
Nothing but the carvings on the walls, made to keep the sanity of one who had already lost their sanity to the
darkness that was their life.
CubStyxx- "Damn, if this doesn't work, I don't know what will. I've been fighting to get this darn thing up
and I've tried everything I know to do, even checking the forums for any information."
