Going Unnoticed

The only kind of solitude here was sitting there in the overly stuffed green chairs, curtained by black silky hair and burying oneself in books. Yet even that was hard to do even in his own common room with the constant ridicule he had to try and ignore. It helped to have his thoughts preoccupied with his flavor-of-the-week book as well but, at least no one in the common rooms was bothering him today. Well, while a few certain boys were already preoccupied enough to overlook his existence, that was. Fine by him, he was already on the last chapter of Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austin. A book that he�d cleverly hidden by his Dark Wizard�s Through The Ages book cover, just in case his presence was suddenly noticed.

Unfortunately, however, he wasn�t getting anywhere on the final chapter of the romance novel. He was distracted by things that he really should not be distracted by. Boys. Well, one boy in particular that is, who was just as striking as he was regal. As if Severus needed one more factor about his being to make him that all the more strange. The students already taunted him for his greasy hair. Actually, it was just very fine and silky that it just looked greasy. Nevertheless, the one day he was caught crying and the entire student body called him Snivellus..Thanks to two certain Gryffindor prats..

But lets just throw in the fact that the young fifteen year old Slytherin fancied boys rather than girls. Yeah, he might as well write out his suicide note lest that one ever get out. None the less, it didn�t stop him from eyeing the platinum haired beauty sitting over by the fireplace and laughing heartily with his groupies. He�d be one of the golden ones in The Dark Lord�s circle if he wasn�t already. The long hair, sparkling blue gray eyes, plush lips, and fair skin. Perhaps the details he�d noticed about Lucius Malfoy was too fine. It was hard not to notice when the boy starred in his every thought, dream, and fantasy. Sometimes he wished his life was a fairy tale like the one in his book. So okay, being a wizard with mythical creatures as an everyday pet was pretty much a fairy tale life, but even that sort of thing had its down falls. They came in the form of Peers. In particular two Gryffindors and the Slytherin Pure Blood boys. Lucius was nothing like his friends though. He�d proven that in his third year. It seemed like every summer holiday Lucius grew even more handsome than the previous semester. His hair would always be a few inches longer, his muscles more defined, taller, and Severus was sure that wasn�t the only thing that had been growing either. Okay, screw the book, Severus was concentrating on something else much more interesting- The constant haunter of his every thought. Ever since his arrival as a first year four years ago, the young male had set his eyes glued to him. In fact, in his third year said boy had saved him from another dream team gang up. The Gryffindor Goldens� had been on one of their pranks against him again when Lucius had hit them with a rather nasty hex and it had allowed Severus to slip away.

He would have thanked him had such a thing been pretty much banned as a Slytherin. Lucius would collect his debt from the male when the time suited him. What and when exactly that would be, Severus Snape shuddered to think.

Lost in his thoughts, Severus lost grip on his book and started suddenly when the hardback book thudded against the stone floor. He bent over in his chair (yes, his chair) to pick it up. But when he dared to look up through his eyes lashes the damn thing slipped from his finger tips again when he�d caught Lucius looking at him. Dammit, the laughs that followed shortly after were probably directed towards his clumsiness. He was normally well collected but those piercing eyes had caught him off guard. How long had he been looking at him anyway? Perhaps the sixth year Slytherin had caught the younger one looking at him? Well, gawking actually.

Daring to look back over to him over the top of his book, Severus was once again, going unnoticed by every one in the room. Including Lucius..But only for a second as the guilty curious male blushed pink behind his book when he noticed that Malfoy had been looking at him..The entire time. The male smirked when Severus dropped his book yet again after he�d caught the sixth year looking at him out the corner of his eyes. The book lay there on the floor as he scowled at it with a look that had been perfected over many times through out the years. Damn.

Looking back up nervously and quite cautiously this time- Severus realized that Lucius was no longer watching him sneakily. But rather had rejoined his fellow Slytherin�s conversation, yet, the smile on his graceful features was too wide to be caused by the conversation itself. That in itself confused Severus as he sneered back down at the book and flicked his wrist to have it fly right back into his hands with out effort. He didn�t notice the amused raised eyebrow Lucius sent his way unknowingly, his face tilted more towards the fifth year as he pretended to be paying attention to the boring friends of his. And to make matters worse, Severus had lost his place. Double Damn.

Hey guys! Sorry this is such a short and slow beginning. It was actually intended to be this way as a sort of Prologue to the actual story itself. I�m writing chapter two as we speak! Hope I�ve caught your interest so far. Up next is harmless flirting, angst, some confusion and obvious boy crushing.
