• Chapter One – What Went Wrong?

  Hermione was never a vain girl; her always-busy hair was a testament to this. She just didn’t have the time to fuss over her appearance. She had classes to attend, homework to do, S.P.E.W to keep active. How did other girls find the time to spend hours in front of the mirror? Even with the time turner she still didn’t have enough time to care about her appearance. Yet, here she was, alone in the girls room in Gryffindor Tower. She had abandoned her homework and sat herself, for the first time, in front of the shared dresser, where the other girls spent every morning fixing their make up.

  She wasn’t plain she thought critically, sure she would never be mistaken for a model, but she wasn’t someone that called be called a ‘plain Jane’. Hesitantly, she reached for one of the brushers. She carefully brushed some onto her cheeks. It definitely highlighted her cheekbones more, she thought, but was but was it really worth doing this everyday? Sighing, she got up and walked into the bathroom. She walked over to the sink and began filling it with water.

  She had more to offer than just looks! She thought with annoyance, she was smart, funny and witty. OK, so she oversensitive sometimes and quick to anger, but did Ron had to so thick? Ron. The reason, she was applying blusher to her face in the first place. What did Lavender have that she didn’t? Lavender was nothing but an airhead, a brainless twerp, who was only good as gossiping. What did Ron see in her? Angrily she cleaned the blusher of her cheeks. Fine. Fine. If Ron preferred a brainless bitch over her then fine. She wouldn’t waste time crying over him anymore.

  Hermione looked into the mirror, feeling renewed. She would so Ron Weasley, she could do better than him.
