First off, I do not own Harry Potter. The story, the person, and the idea are J.K. Rowling’s creation. I also do not make money from this. This story is simply for my enjoyment and yours, I hope. The pairing of Harry and Gabrielleis something I’ve been trying to get going for a while. But I couldn’t think of a way for the two to get going. Until I read Jacenthedarkknight’s story and it hit me. After asking permission, I began work on this fan-fic. This story will start post-6th year. I’ll be trying to stay ‘in character’ as much as possible and try to only make changes necessary to my story. One last thing, I can’t do French accent, so Gabrielle has learned more fluent English. But enough of my ramblings sit back and enjoy the story.
Number 4, Privet Drive
Harry sat on the edge of his bed, studying the fake locket in his hand. He had read and re-read the note so many times he had it memorized. Who replaced the real one with this one? How did they switch them? And where did they take the real one? Like so many nights since the end of school, he began to open and close it, the soft ‘click’ each time echoing in his otherwise quiet room. Just then, a tapping was heard from the window. Turning his attention away from the locket, he opened the window and let Hedwig fly in. She dropped an envelope onto his dresser then flew to her perch, got a drink then flew back to the dresser, pushed the letter closer and looked at Harry, waiting for him to open it. “The letter is that important, huh? Okay, let me see it.” He gently lifted Hedwig up onto his shoulder and opened the envelope, reading the letter silently to himself.
Dear Harry;
As you know, you turn 17 this summer. Several things will happen on your birthday, but the biggest and most important change will be that the protections over you at your aunt’s house will no longer work. A plan is in place to move you from that house to another location; placed under more powerful protection. Ensure that your bags are always packed and you are ready to move at a moment’s notice. And as Mad-Eye always says, Constant Vigilance!
With Warm Regards,
Moony
After he read the letter he looked over at Hedwig, sighing. “Well thanks, girl. But they couldn’t even put in a date?” Hedwig puffed up her chest and ruffled her feathers then turned and flew back to her cage, tucked her head beneath her wing and pretended to fall asleep. “Sorry, I’m not mad, just being in the dark for a month then getting this for the only piece of information, it’s like four years ago.” He walked over and stroked the back of her head, causing her to lift her head up and coo then go back to sleep. Taking the cue, Harry put the locket, the letter and his glasses on the dresser and went to sleep, unaware that the move would change his life more than anything else in the last seven years.
The home of Mr. and Mrs. Delacour, the night of the evacuation.
She awoke in the middle of the night to a terrible ache in her heart. Tears began to roll down her cheeks as her heart raced and she called out to her mother. “Ma!! MOM!!!!!!” As she tried to wipe her eyes her mother came into her room. “What is it, Gabrielle?” She asked, sitting down beside her daughter, wrapping her in a comforting hug. “I..I don’t know mom. It..it is just like last year. My heart feels like it’s breaking again.” Gabrielle hugged her mother tighter, trying to calm herself. As her mother held her, Gabrielle’s father knocked on the door to their youngest daughter’s room. “Dear, I need to talk to you for a minute.” Kissing her daughter’s forehead, Apolline got up and followed her husband into the hallway. Looking worriedly towards the door, her husband informed her of what his co-workers relayed about the evacuation attempt of Harry Potter.
“They say that as soon as they left the boy’s house, they were ambushed by a massive attack. There were several casualties.” Apolline bit her lip nervously. “No dear, the boy wasn’t one of them.”
“I know that Mon, or we would have lost our daughter at the same time.” “WHAT?! What do you mean Apolline?” “I mean that our daughter has bonded with Harry Potter.” “But the boy has never once been in this country or this house! When could…” And with that, Mr. Delacour remembered what happened during the Tri-Wizard cup, how Harry had saved his daughter from the Merpeople. “It is just some hero worship or something, it must be.”
“My dear husband…you must trust me. Veela do not fall prey to hero worship. Think about it, she felt heartbreak last year and we find out the boy’s Godfather had died. She feels heartbreak tonight as more people that he knows or is close to die. The only answer is that our little Gabrielle has bonded with Harry.” Monsieur stammered a little, trying to find some response to what his wife revealed about their daughter but came up with nothing. Sighing, he nods to her and agrees with her statement. “You are right, as always. But what do we do? I don’t want her running off with someone she doesn’t know.”
Smiling, Apolline pats her husband’s cheek. “Trust me and trust in her, everything will work out. Now come on, I think we need to talk to our daughter together. Then we all need to get ready, Fleur’s wedding is just around the corner.” With that, she took her husband’s hand and led him back into Gabrielle’s room. The two sat down and began to tell her everything they talked about, while Apolline explained the bonding in more detail to her youngest daughter.
Weasley House, 3 days before the wedding.
As everyone was busy downstairs, Harry sat alone in the attic, looking at the empty cage across room. He then put his head in his hands, shaking slightly. For some reason, Voldemort couldn’t kill him right now, but he was doing the next best thing by killing those closest to Harry. Sirius…Dumbledore…and now Mad-Eye AND Hedwig. Anyone that was close to him, anyone that tried to help him, was at risk of being killed. And as he glanced around the room, his eyes fell on the locket again. He had to find the real one, and the other Horcruxes for that matter. But he no longer wanted to search for them with Ron or Hermione. The thought of losing either of them was unbearable. Having finally decided, he gathered up his clothes and a small bag and began to pack. But as he was pushing the last of his things into the pack, his wand lifted off the desk and flew across the room into Hermione’s outstretched hand. On her face was a look of shock and disbelief mixed with sadness.
She had gone upstairs to ask if Harry wanted to come down for lunch. Seeing the door open, she stepped in and her jaw dropped. His back was to her, pushing clothes into a backpack. He was going to try and leave?!!? She drew her wand instantly and casted an Accio spell on his wand. “And just WHERE do you think you are going?” Harry stood and walked over to the bed, grabbing the locket and shoved it in his pocket. Looking away, he said: “Hermione, I can’t let you or Ron follow me. I can’t lose anyone else.” Tightening her hold on the wands, she glared back and responded: “Too bad it isn’t your choice whether Ron and I follow you. It’s OUR choice to help you, WHETHER you want us to or not. Besides, you aren’t leaving without being at the wedding.” “Hermione, I don’t…” Pocketing his wand, Hermione smiled. “Don’t plan on leaving until after the wedding, right! Now come downstairs, there is someone that wants to say hello.” With that, she turned and walked downstairs.
Grumbling to himself, Harry tossed the bag down and followed after Hermione. As he neared the kitchen, a sweet smell began to fill his lungs. “What are you cooking, Mrs…” He stops mid-sentence as he sees that other people are in the house besides the Weasleys, Fleur and Hermione. The first person he saw was a taller version of Fleur. Realizing that it was probably Fleur’s mother, Harry smiled and nodded his head. And that would mean the guy next to her was Fleur’s father. Then he heard an almost angelic voice call his name. Turning around, he was caught off guard as he was wrapped up in the arms of a goddess.
The choice to come to the wedding was more to be close to him than anything else. The night her mother told her about the bond that had formed between her and Harry made Gabrielle realize why she had been feeling all the emotions that weren’t from her. The loneliness, the sorrow, the heartbreak; it all became crystal clear that she was feeling HIS emotions. So when she showed up to the Burrow, she instantly felt her spirit start to lift, feeling that Harry was inside the house, safe for the most part. She walked in after her parents and was greeted by all the Weasleys that would become her in-laws. Then she saw Hermione head upstairs to fetch him. She waited patiently, moving away from the stairs so that she would see him before he’d see her. Hermione came stomping down the stairs after a few moments, followed by him. And as soon as she saw him, she knew her mother was right. Every fiber of her being, all her magic, all her soul; cried in joy as he nodded and said hello to her parents. Without thinking, she called out to him and floated over, embracing him in a warm hug. As he wrapped his arms around her, she felt herself moving so that every possible inch was pressed against him, slightly shocked at how well they ‘fit’ together. She then placed a soft kiss on his cheek and pulled slowly away, a slight red glow in her cheeks.
Everyone was stunned by the reaction between Gabrielle and Harry. Everyone, that is, besides the other Delacours. Fleur quickly and quietly spoke to her parents in French, they told her what had happened and she nodded, smiling at her younger sister. Ginny glared at Gabrielle then stormed outside.
After the hug and the kiss, Harry cleared his throat a little while Gabrielle pulled away. He got an opportunity to look at the girl before him. And though he knew she was part-Veela, and beautiful beyond words, he couldn’t help but admire everything about her. “Gabrielle..I..I’m glad to see you made it safely here. It’s been a long time since I last saw you.” For some reason, Harry felt all the weight of his ‘mission’ leave him. He no longer wanted to go after the Horcruxes alone. Now..now he wanted to stay wherever Gabrielle was. And though the thought alarmed him, he didn’t care. For the first time, Harry Potter finally felt truly at peace.
And with that, the first chapter is done. Review please, pros and cons. I just wanted to get this opening up, so there may be some editing I do, but this is the groundwork for it. And there WILL be sex, later. I’m not gonna have her jump him the first chance she gets, hehe. That’d be too easy.
