Rolling in the Deep
Chapter 1: Fever Pitch
Draco had no idea how he'd gotten to this place. Logically, he could give himself a run down of the last year in vivid detail but he didn’t need logic. He needed revenge.
One Year Ago
A sharp bell chimed in the front of the apothecary rousing Draco from the monotony of stirring the thick green mixture in his cauldron. The fumes of the Skele-Gro filled the small back office of his store and he quickly cast a freshening charm. It wouldn’t do his business any good if a customer to had to smell the foul stench. Brushing non-existent dust off his steel gray apron, he pushed through the swinging doors to the front of the shop.
“Potter, I must say you have become unusually punctual since our school days. ” Draco noted as he greeted the man who had recently become his best customer.
“I’ve been working on him. ” Hermione explained causing a delightful shade of pink to color Harry’s tan cheeks. Draco chuckled and lifted the box inscribed Potter, James from the shelf across from the counter. He placed it on the wood counter in front Harry.
“I’m sorry to say that the Skele-Gro needs about an hour more. Of course you’re more than welcome to hang about or I can give you a ring when it’s ready. ” Draco leaned forward his elbows resting on the low counter. His gaze flicked to Hermione who returned his smile.
It was odd that only 7 years earlier they had been enemies. Yet when Draco had crawled his way to Grimmauld place with nothing but his wand and a scrap of paper with the address written in Snape’s handwriting, she had been the first one to stand up for him. She was logical and quick as a whip and Draco had never been happier that she was smarter than him than when she single handedly convinced Harry and Ron that they shouldn’t kick him out immediately. Through out the rest of the war Draco had worked closely with Hermione, researching horcruxes and sending the trio potions as they continued their search outside of the walls of the abandoned headquarters. Slowly the other two thirds of the trio had warmed to him. He had apologized but Draco always had a feeling that his skills in Wizard’s Chess had done more to sway Ron than anything. Harry on the other hand kept up their fiery arguments though they became less hateful and more productive as Draco continued to provide invaluable information and skills to the trio. By the end of the war, Draco had become closer with the three Gryffindor’s than anyone he had known previously and as the years progressed Draco had stayed close with the three, even participating in a duet of Don’t Stop Believing with Harry at Ron and Hermione’s wedding. When Draco had decided to open the apothecary the trio became his first customers and his own personal marketing team. Together, they had spread the word about Draco’s skill and within a week of opening he had a bustling business.
“You know I’d love to Draco but Ron’s making dinner and I’m afraid he’ll burn the house down if I don’t get home soon. Besides I just wanted to come by and see if you wanted to go to beach with all of this weekend. Harry got us a portkey to Hawaii!” She squealed excitedly. Draco smiled wider but shook his head.
“No, I’d have to shut the shop down and I’d probably get behind in my potions…”
“Draco, we both know you brew potions that can’t be done in minutes weeks before hand. You will come with us and you will have a great time. The kids will be so excited! They always wanted to see you in the sunlight.” Hermione shot him a self satisfied smile and Harry snorted at the comment. Draco however stood straight up and crossed his arms.
“I get plenty of sunlight. Anyway, I wouldn’t want to get freckles, they are dreadful looking.” Another snort. “Honestly, Potter have you become a pig.”
“Shove it, Malfoy.” Harry retorted. “Anyway, I guess I'll just hang about and make sure you aren’t trying to poison my son. G’Night, Mione.”
“Goodnight you two! I’ll see you both on Saturday!” She gave Draco a quick peck on the cheek and hurried out of the small shop. The store fell into an awkward silence as the two men stood looking at each other. After a couple minutes of this, Draco spoke up.
“Well, come on back then. I just have to add the last couple ingredients and then it’s about a 45 minute wait.” Draco turned and walked through the doors to the back. He could practically feel Harry’s eyes boring into him. Ever since Draco had come out a year earlier Harry had seemed to pick up his old staring habits. Draco at first thought Harry simply didn’t like gay people but after confronting the golden boy about his suspicions, Harry had assured him he had no problem with him being gay. Yet the staring had not stopped. He heard the soft footsteps of Harry’s moccasins behind him. They were cute little shoes though he would never admit that to Harry. Teasing him over such an odd purchase was a constant source of amusement for Draco and he would not give that up.
“Honestly Potter your son needs to be more careful, people will start to talk.”
“Like they’d dare. I’m trying to teach him to fly but honestly, he’s bullocks at it.” Harry explained leaning against the stone wall to Draco’s right. Damn, he looked good, Draco thought. His glasses were gone, broken in the final battle. Harry had his eyes corrected and donated his glasses for an auction benefiting the rebuilding of Hogwarts. His hair was still a raven nest but his tan skin seemed to emanate light in the dark brewing room. His body was in remarkable condition from auror duties and Draco often found himself ogling the man’s remarkable chest. This weekend would be hell. If seeing Harry half naked wasn’t enough he’d have to be wearing swim shorts as well. He had never let anyone in on his attraction to Harry but Draco was sure Hermione had noticed his lingering stares.
“ So is the Weaslette joining us this weekend or is she off to another “quidditch” game? “ Draco tried to play along with the lies Ginny told if only for Harry’s sake. If anyone deserved to be happy it was Harry.
“You mean is she fucking Nott this weekend? In which case the answer is yes.” Draco whipped his head up from his stirring to look at the smiling Gryffindor. “Come on Draco, did you really think that I didn’t know? I’m the best auror the bloody ministry has, I think I could see past the pathetic excuses she shit out. Our divorce finalized a month ago and besides she has James this weekend and he certainly can’t go to the beach with a broken leg.”
How had Draco not heard about this? He read the Prophet daily and he had Hermione who was always a huge gossip when it came to their circle of friends. It didn’t make any sense.
“ I made the whole Weasley family make an unbreakable vow to not tell anyone I hadn’t told and yes that includes Hermione.” Well that explained that but how in the world had he missed it. Granted Ginny hadn’t been around lately but Draco figured that she was just getting better at lying. In his confusion Draco picked up the wrong ingredient and the cauldron gurgled before spewing green slime into Draco’s face.
“Fuck!” Draco cursed as he wiped the potion off his face. He looked at the ingredient and was relieved to find it was just a salt slab, enough to nullify the potion but not enough for there to be any side effects. Harry had rushed to his side with a wet washcloth and Draco gratefully took it wiping his eyes and face. “Fuck, I’m sorry Harry. I can make another one but it won’t be ready until tomorrow morning. Fuck, I’m really sorry.”
“Shush. I don’t care it was just an accident. Besides you look bloody cute with potion in you hair.”
“Fuck, its in my hair?” Draco said touching his hair before inhaling as he noticed the closeness between him and Harry and as he realized what Harry had just said. Somehow Harry had pushed him against the desk and his leg was now resting in between Draco’s spread legs. Draco cursed again looking down as he thought about the blood that must be racing to his groin.
“You are really thinking about your hair right now?” Harry said breathing heavily the hot puffs ghosting against Draco’s lips. Of course he wasn’t think about his hair, Draco thought but he couldn’t let Harry know that and he certainly couldn’t let him feel the hardness growing against his leg.
“What else would I be thinking about?” He asked trying not to sound as turned on as he was. He tried to pull back his hips only to be stopped as Harry placed his hand on the small of his back and pull their hips flush together. Before Draco could notice Harry’s matching hardness, Harry had answered the question.
“Well you could think about this.” And then Harry was kissing him and lifting his lithe body onto the table by his arse. He bit and teased Draco’s lips and pressed his lips solidly against his before sliding his tongue into Draco’s willing mouth. Harry moved fully between Draco’s legs and continued to massage his arse while slowly grinding his erection against Draco’s. Soft moans escaped Draco’s lips and Harry groaned in return. Taking a break from the kiss Harry kissed his way down his neck, sucking and licking the soft skin causing purple hickeys to stand out against Draco’s translucent skin.
“Gods you have no idea how long I’ve wanted to do this.” Harry murmured against his skin. Draco’s mind was racing, Harry was kissing him, grinding against him and Harry wanted him. And for a long time? It was like a dream and the haze Draco felt as he approached his orgasm made it feel even more surreal. He shook his head to clear it and pulled away from the gorgeous man in front of him.
“How long?” He said looking deeply into Harry’s wild green eyes. Harry smiles and continued to roll his hips against Draco’s. He pulled Draco even closer so that the base of Harry’s cock pushed against Draco’s fabric covered ass. Draco wrapped his legs around Harry and threw his head back and moaned as Harry punctuated his next words with small thrusts against Draco’s ass.
“Since – ug – the- ah- war. Fucking god Draco you feel so fucking good against me.“ The heaviness of that statement washed over Draco and he grabbed Harry by the hair and crashed their lips together. His heart felt like it was going to explode and there was a fire building inside of him that he hadn’t felt in years. Harry continued to thrust against him and soon they were moaning their releases into each other’s mouths.
They sat there leaning their foreheads against each other’s. As each caught their breath, Harry breathed out a cleaning charm. Slowly they pulled apart, Draco stayed on the table running his fingers through his hair, trying to get a grasp on the situation. Harry walked around to the other side of the table and picked up the broken pieces of cauldron.
“Sorry about the cauldron.” Harry said giving Draco a lopsided smile. His face was still flushed and his hair had that just fucked look that Draco thought no one could pull off until he saw it on Harry.
“Its quite alright.” Draco said slipping off the table, he stumbled a bit on his weak knees and Harry rushed to help him. Harry scooped Draco up and carried him to the front desk and set him up on the counter next to the James’ completed potions. “Sorry about the Skele-Gro.” Draco said weakly. Potions were the absolute last thing Draco wanted to be talking about anyway. Harry stayed between Draco’s legs and held his gaze with lust-glazed eyes. Draco thought for a moment that Harry was going to kiss him again but instead the dark haired man pulled away and picked up his potions.
“Its okay, I can just use the bottle the hospital gave me.” Harry smirked looking at Draco who still sat slack jawed on the desk.
“If you had a bottle, why did you ask me to make one?”
“I think you know the answer to that question.” Harry said winking and with that he turned on his heel and walked to the door. He paused though and as he stood in the doorway he looked back.
“I’ll see you this weekend, Draco.”
Present
Draco had moved from the bedroom unable to look at the picture of a smiling Harry and him on the Hawaiian beach where they had first made love. He felt awful but he couldn’t feel awful. He needed to feel confident. He was going out tonight. He was going to show Harry that he almost had it all.
