A small boy with unruly black hair and bright green eyes wondered around a dark forest. Wrapped around his arm was a large green serpent that looked to be whispering toward the boy who nodded every few moments, turning directions here and there.
"Turn here young speaker and continue going straight. You will come to a large mansion. The people there are strange and very different. I'msure it is the place for you!"
The boy smiled down at the snake his soft voice coming in short hisses,"Will you stay with me snake friend?"
The snake looked as if to frown before a small pink tongue flicked in and out of his mouth as if tasting the air and thinking, "If that is what you want little speaker. I can stay with you"
"Oh please. I don't want to be lonely anymore."
The snake gave a soft hiss of comfort before slithering up the child's arm to drape over his shoulder gently and loosely. The green eyed boy smiled brightly and continued along the path the snake had set him on,his glasses looking as if they were going to fall from his face.
It wasn't long before the child came to a large graveyard where just past it he could see a tall dark mansion where loud music seemed to be coming from. The snake raised its head from the boys shoulder before tipping it to the side and curling a little tighter around the thin shoulder of the boy. Who seemed to be hesitant with the large noises?
"There is nothing to fear snake child. They will not harm you. Go to them."
The young snake speaker shook his head, "They are having a party, Iwon't interrupt. I can sleep here for the night."
The snake gave a soft sigh as the boy climbed up onto one of the large crypts and laid down against the cold stone. Curling against the crypt looking up at the bright stars above him thinking back on how he had ended up here to beginwith.
-Memory-
"Get back here you stupid freak!" Dudley shouted behind him.
Once again 'Freak' was running for his life from his bigger cousin. It happened every morning it seemed. But today he had help. One of his friends and slept over, Theo. And now the two were playing theirfavourite game, 'Catch the Freak'.
Freak cried out in fear as he dodged into another alley way and was not surprised when he all of a sudden hit abrick wall. Whimpering in fear he curled into a small ball and wished to be anywhere but there. The screams and yells of his cousin and his cousin's friend seemed to drown away as the sounds of birds and bugs became overwhelming.
Slowly opening his eyes he looked around to find himself in a vast forest! He didn't even know how he had gotten there! Where was hesupposed to go now? Giving a soft whimper of fear he took a few steps.
"Watch where you're going or I will bite your toe off human childe!"
Yelping down freak looked down to see a long beautiful green snakewith piercing yellow eyes. Leaning down carefully he spoke to itunsurely, "I'm sorry I didn't mean to."
"A speaker!"
Freak frowned and stumbled back in surprise only to find the snake now sliding into his lap and lifting up to stare at him straight in the eyes.
"Little speaker?"
The green eyed boy spoke back softly, "You can understand me? I can understand you?"
"Silly speaker! Of course!"
-Present Time-
The boy smiled down looking at the snake wrapped in a ball on his chest. He was glad he had met the serpent and still was unsure what to call him or what to even do. Shrugging he closed his eyes and fell into a deep sleep. It had been so long since he could sleep with the hopes of a better tomorrow.
-Scene change-
Morticia walked quietly along the graveyard path passing each grave with a gentle caress of her thin pale fingers. Her long black dress dragged along the dried dirt of the ground as she passed by a tall statue of an angel. Looking further ahead she stopped as she saw a small prone figure laying on top her elder brothers tomb.
Gracefully she glided forward her facial expression as peruse and perfect as if she was undisturbed by the small child on the tomb. Laying a hand atop is unruly black hair she gave a soft smile as the snake rose and hissed at her in a protective manner of the boy. She lifted a long finger to shush the snake before gently lifting the boy off the tomb the snake curling tighter against the boy's stomach so as not to be jostled from place.
Morticia glided up to the large mansion her family called home and Lurch threw open the door at her approach. With a smile she nodded to him making a small noise in her throat causing her children, brother in law, and husband stop what they are doing and turn to face her.
Gomez slipped up to her and looked down at the child in her arms, "Oh my lady of the night! Have I fathered another child from my sweet night rose?"
The tall pale woman made a soft noise that sounded much like a laugh, "Gomez my love, I found him sleeping on a tomb. Seems his snake friend is protective. Gomez you wished for another child yes?"
The man wrapped his arms around his wife nuzzling into her neck before lifting a hand to brush it against the boy's cheek, "Welcome to the family."
Wednesday and Pugsly both looked at their parents then at Uncle Fester who was already waddling up to the parents to look at the newest addition.
Pugsly turned to his sister, "So we have a new little brother?"
Wednesday smiled in a slightly creepy, "It would appear so brother."
It wasn't long before the entire family was hiking up the steps to a large black door. Opening it Gomez made a cry of excitement as he revealed the cobweb covered room. A large black bed lay to one side and the rest of the room was bare of any and all things. But that they knew would change with time.
Morticia slipped forward her heels making no sound on the creaking wood as she laid the small boy on the bed and covered him with the thick heavy blanket. Leaning down she gave him a gentle kiss on the brow just as Grandmama walked in a frown on her face as she looked down at the boy.
Gomez turned to the elderly woman, "What is wrong dear mother?"
Grandmama gripped her old cane pointing a withered finger at the child, "He will be a powerful warlock. He will do great things! Terrible or Not he will do great things indeed."
Morticia smiled lightly and looking down at the child with a delightful smile, "Then we shall call him, Midgar!"
Gomez and Fester both clapped at the announcement before Morticia shooed them all from the room closing the door behind them before turning to the small child running thin pale fingers through his thick locks.
"Hush little babe
Sleep in your crib.
With a rattle of bones.
And your bloody bib.
With a bottle of poison
And your mercury socks
Let them rock you to you
Eternal nap.
I am the mother
Who treats you so
The ugly hag
In the mask and cloak.
Sleep little babe
With tattered old cloths
Moth ridden blankets
And pillow of stakes."
She smiled one last time brushing the curly black locks behind one of his ears. Leaning down her ruby red lips brushing against his forehead. As she tucked him in gently into the bed and left silently closing the door quietly behind her.
