“What the…” I grunted as I hit ground, my head slammed against the floor and for a second I thought I saw stars. Then all went black.
A sharp pain on the back of my head brought me back to reality, or whatever it was. A nagging uneasy feeling grew at the base of my temples and warned me that it wouldn’t take long until my head was throbbing with what could possibly be the worst migraine known to man. “Fuck.” I growled lowly. I tried to focus my eyes as I looked around. I could not make out a lot; everything was rather blurry, but I did find that I was alone.
While I had no idea where I was I was relieved. It was ridiculous honestly, because I was relieved that there were no reporters around to watch (not to mention document) how the one five-time winner of Witch Weekly’s “most charming smile” looked extremely unflattering, lying on the floor.
Pained and undoubtedly hideous, absolutely nothing like the great wizard that had encountered so many dark creatures I’d lost count of exactly just how many I’d seen.
Of course there were skeptics who claimed that I hadn’t seen too many and that I was nothing but a mere fraud but how else would I have possible received the Order of Merlin or become an Honorary member of the DFDT (Dark Force Defense Team)? Even though I did not remember everything I had done, I figured they were just jealous, really…
Only minutes later after the throbbing subsided and the migraine thankfully never enforced itself on my brain, I searched my robes for my wand.
It was missing. Another “Fuck…” escaped my mouth. I was in trouble. For one, I, Gilderoy Lockhart, who had travelled the world, had no fucking clue as to where I was, and secondly, while I wasn’t too talented in the charms department (Mind you, I was an expert in Memory charms, the only problem was that my basic spell knowledge did not span far, at all; sometimes I did wonder just how I had survived the encounters I’d written about) I had never actually been without my wand. “Marvelous, just marvelous” I sat up and tried my legs as I got to my feet.
My eyes had become adjusted to the dim light that lit the seemingly circular room I was in and I could make out that there was in fact nothing in there and so it didn’t surprise me that I could not make out a lot earlier.
I stalked to the far end of the room and placed my hands on the wall. The stone, I assumed it was stone, was hard and radiated with warmth. “This is odd…” I decided. I walked along the wall, never removing my right hand from the wall. I hoped I could find an irregularity of some sort, which could indicate that there might be space behind the wall. Space behind a wall meant a way out, did it not?
“Just what do you think you are doing?” My heart leaped at the sudden voice. I had been alone thus far and instantly I turned, nothing short of petrified of who or what I might find.
Severus Snape was standing in the middle of the room. That characteristic scowl on his face made me recognize him straightaway; before I could make out the rest of his features. I straightened myself, willed my heart to slow down and put my chin up.
"Colleague", I responded with as much dignity as I could summon. I would not resort to becoming a slithery, scowling git, much like he was. I would not, even though the look he was giving me gave everything he felt about me away: He thought me little more than the first graders he could turn to mashed potatoes with a simple raise of his eye brow. I had a hunch he might’ve even thought more of them than of me. “I believe we find ourselves in a mighty fine predicament… I have investigated the room thoroughly and my conclusion is that there is no way out,” Severus’ brow went even higher up his forehead. “No way out, you say? Interesting,” he replied casually, sarcasm lingering in his use of the word ‘interesting’. “Yes, why…”
“Then how do you suggest I got in?” he asked sweetly.
“I.. I have no idea.” I answered honestly, I had no clue and I wondered why I hadn’t questioned that myself earlier.
Severus took a step forward, and subconsciously I took one step back, I was against the wall. His eyes were dark and that made me feel quite uneasy. “Might I hazard a suggestion?” he said with a dark smile on his lips as he took another step towards me. I shook my head, “I.. uh..” I licked my, suddenly incredibly dry, lips nervously. “Well? Good gracious man, had you been one of my pupils I would’ve deducted 200 points from Ravenclaw instantly for not being able to answer the simplest of questions coherently.” His voice cut me like a knife; a not altogether unpleasant shiver was sent down my spine, as I looked him in the eyes.
“A simple yes or no will suffice, Gilderoy.”
His use of my name made me frown, Severus Snape never addresses anyone by their first name, let alone in such a casual manner.
“I.. yes, of course,” I tried to regain my posture and prayed to Merlin and all the supposedly divine deities I’d ever encountered that my colleague hadn’t noticed how uneasy he made me feel.
His face was only inches away from mine and I could feel the heat radiating off his body as he came to a halt. He ran a hand through my hair and replied, “You summoned me.” His voice was barely more than a whisper, but it made my knees go weak as a pang of desire shot through me, straight to my groin. “What?” I started, and then just as I thought my legs would give way he pushed me down to my knees.
