Chapter 1

A New Life

"Come on you can do better than that". His Godfather yelled, his voice echoing around the 'Death Room'. Harry was screaming at Sirius to duck down. But it was too late, Harry saw the red light of the 'Stunning Curse' hit his godfather in the chest. "No not again please not again, SIRIUS NO!!!". Harry sobbed as he watched Sirius slowly fall into the veil of darkness. Harry ran trying the get to him, but it was too late. "SIRIUS PLEASE!!!" Harry yelled "SIRIUS!!!". Then Lupin grabbing Harry around the chest "There nothing you can do Harry" Lupin said. "Get him, save him, he's only gone through!" "It's too late Harry"he said. Harry struggled hard and viciously. But Lupin would not let him go "there's nothing you can do Harry ... nothing ... he's gone", "HE HASN'T GONE" Harry yelled "SIRIUS" he yelled again "SIRIUS", " he can't come back Harry" said Lupin. "He can't come back because he's d?" "HE ? IS ? NOT ? DEAD" Roared Harry. "SIRIUS ?" "HARRY" someone called "Harry wake up". Harry woke up to see a blurry shape. He reached over to his bedside table and picked up his glasses and put them on. He could see his Aunt Petunia now and she was sitting on his bed and he soon realized his face was wet from crying. He quickly sat up and rubbed the tears from his eyes "sorry" he said. "It's ok dear you were having one of your nightmares again" his Aunt said looking at him with concern. Harry nodded still surprised his Aunt were being nice to him.

FLASHBACK

After Moody and the others finished threatening his relatives, they walked off towards the car in total silence, his aunt though could see her nephew was upset about something as she could see tears building up in the corners of his eyes. The silence was broken by Dudley " Potter 'er in mean Harry, I just wanted to say thank you for saving my life last year". He said, Harry looked up at Dudley and saw he was being honest with him. Harry open his mouth to reply but didn't get the chance to say anything back. "Dudley, don't speak to him, you know what a little freak he is". His Uncle Vernon said to Dudley. Dudley saw Harry was about to say something back to him but then looked away from Dudley and back to looking out of the window. Aunt Petunia who was watching saw tears fall from the corners of Harry's eyes. Dudley saw the same thing and felt sorry for his cousin and shook his head. "I don't care if he's a freak or not, Harry is still my cousin and a part of my family and besides I'm a freak too." Dudley told his father. "What do you mean your a freak too"? Uncle Vernon asked. "I can do magic too, i have since i was little, I saw the way you treated Harry and so i hid it from both of you because i was scared that you'd treat me the same way too". Dudley told them "i even got the same letter as Harry when i turned 11 but i sent the letter back saying i couldn't go".

"I understand why you didn't say, i forgive you Dudley". Harry told his cousin.

Aunt Petunia was watching her husband the whole time Dudley was talking and could see Vernon going redder and redder with rage, if she didn't do something, Vernon would flip.

Harry saw the fear in his Aunt's face they needed to escape the car, they were still in London, Harry could take his Aunt and Dudley to safety and away from Vernon, Harry knew in his heart his Aunt didn't hate her sister and that it was Vernon that controlled her, even to the point of beating her.

"Vernon can you stop the car please" Aunt Petunia asked as she put a hand on Vernon's arm

Vernon looked at his wife with rage and Petunia was afraid for her life then.

"This is all you're FAULT you BITCH". Vernon yelled as he swung his arm back and hit her across the face.

"Ahhh, VERNON PLEASE NO!!!!" Cried Petunia as her hand flew to her cheek.

Harry had enough. "VERNON LAY ONE MORE HAND ON HER AND IT'S THE LAST THING YOU DO" shouted Harry.

"and what are you going to do about it boy". Vernon said as he looked back a Harry through the windscreen mirror.

Harry pulled out his wand. "Something i should've done years ago".

he said "You can't do magic outside of school boy you'll be expelled". Vernon said. "Actually we can, now that Voldemort is back, our Ministry of Magic has lowered the age to 15 years of age so we can now do magic. "Now do as my Aunt Petunia asks and stop the car". Harry said calmly still holding his wand up.

Vernon stopped the car on London bridge. Harry with Hedwig, Dudley and Aunt Petunia all got out of the car, Dudley helped Harry take out his trunk and moved over to the curb. Aunt Petunia who was still in tears after what Vernon had done, moved over to the window. "Vernon". she said as she tapped the glass. Vernon opened the window "Vernon, I never want to see you again, apart from Dudley you have ruined my life, I wanted to be a Doctor before i met you, but you stopped me from going to college then uni, I always loved Lily and you took that away from me as well with your lies. I thought I once loved you but it wasn't love it was fear always fear, so now i want a divorce, once the divorce is over i never want to see you again. we'll be back to collect our things". she told him. "Make sure I'm not in when you do". Vernon spat and he sped off.

As they watch Vernon speed away. Petunia turn to Dudley with tears in her eyes. "Mum". He said and pulled her into a cuddle "Where are we going to go now we are homeless and we have no money, what are we going to do". Aunt Petunia cried. "I don't know mum" Dudley told her.

Harry who was sitting on his trunk was listening to them talking. <what is going on i need a lot of answers and Aunt Petunia and Dudley can answer them, but first i need to take them to The Leaky Cauldron but first i need to see if Aunt Petunia will come with me on the Knight bus>.

"I know a place we can stay, i've got the money to get us there as well" Harry told them both. But you are going to have to trust me". He said.

Aunt Petunia and Dudley both turned to look at Harry. Harry saw the bruise that was slowly appearing on his Aunt's cheek <I'll have to fix that once we're at the pub> Harry thought, both Dudley and his Aunt nodded. Harry pulled out his money pouch from his pocket and then pointed his wand into the air, in a second there was a loud bang (which caused Petunia and Dudley to scream) and the triple deck knight bus appeared and the bus's doors opened and Stan Shunpike can down to the steps to greet them. "My name is Stan Shunpike and i will be you conductor this fine afternoon". Said Stan. "Hi Stan How much is it to get us to The Leaky Cauldron"? Harry asked "and I will pay you extra if you can get us there first". he continued. Stan looked over at his aunt and cousin. "5 sickles each. Harry took 60 sickles out and handed it to Stan "come on Aunt Petunia, Dudley it's quite safe". Harry said as he held out his hand to Petunia to take.

She gingerly took his hand the they all climbed aboard the bus, Stan got Harry's trunk and Hedwig and put them next to the bed Harry and the others sat down on. Stan told Ernie to go to The Leaky Cauldron first and off the went.

5 seconds later the Knight Bus stopped outside The Leaky Cauldron. "Thanks Stan and Ernie". Harry said as he and Petunia and Dudley got off the bus "No problems Neville" Stan said still not getting his name right as he help Harry get his trunk off the bus.

Once they were ready they walked into the pub, once in the pub, Harry shrunk his trunk down and asked Tom at the bar if he could look after Hedwig while he and his family went into Gringotts Wizarding Bank. Tom said he would.

So Harry took his family into the back of the pub and to the wall which had Diagon Alley behind it. "Harry i think we took a wrong turn" Petunia said never before been to this place "yeah Harry it's a dead end" Dudley said "oh you think so do ya". Harry said with a smile as he tapped the right brick to open the archway. As the wall opened up Harry saw his Aunt and Cousin mouth open wide when they saw the Alley open up "Aunt Petunia, Dudley Welcome to Diagon Alley, main shopping town of the wizarding world". Harry said as he led the through the Archway.
