Hello everyone! This is the first chapter of the sequel. For those of you who have followed me from the last story, In Servitude to the Dark part 1, then just skip this introductory note. For those just joining me, you will have to read the first part to understand what's going on…trust me, it's worth it. But if you don't have the time, or just need a refresher, then I'll give you the highlights of what happened in the first part, which sort of builds off the main plotline of the Prisoner of Azkaban:
Marvolo - He is formed from the merging of the diary horcrux (Riddle) and Harry's scar-crux. He has all of Voldemort's knowledge up until the AK rebounded. And since he's lived inside of Harry for almost all of the boy's life, Marvolo sees Harry more as an extension of himself than an enemy. His goal is to train Harry to become a powerful Death Eater to serve Voldemort after the resurrection (very self-serving), but on the way, he ends up developing tender feelings for him as well.
Harry Potter – With Marvolo's help he is developing his Slytherin side. Harry's development is as realistic as I can make it. Emotionally, he's still just a 13 year old boy, so the farthest he's ever got is a kiss from Marvolo. He carries two wands, his Holly Phoenix wand and another that is actually a unicorn horn gifted to him. It is bicolored, black and white, symbolizing Harry's Light and Dark magic. His knowledge base is probably equivalent 6th year Ravenclaw who was raised with the knowledge of the Dark ways, but because Harry's so much more powerful, he can perform feats magic (patronus) and rituals that are far beyond many adults, once he learns how.
Severus Snape - Our favorite Potion's Master has become a father figure to Harry. They've grown really close, and basically knows all of Harry's secrets except for Marvolo's existence. Also, Snape is no longer on the Light side, but we don't know yet if he will just be neutral, help Harry form his own side, or join LV again as a Death Eater.
Albus Dumbledore – He is essentially a war general, the Light Lord, and uses Hogwarts like his own battle field. He is not evil per se, but is willing to do anything to beat the Dark Lord. But he is losing control over Harry and his reputation has taken several hits as his manipulations are slowly being exposed. But he's had an entire lifetime to build his pristine image, direct access to impressionable young minds which he has molded for several generations, and defeating the previous Dark Lord is no small thing. It will take more than a couple hits to knock Dumbledore from his pedestal.
Sirius Black - He is disillusioned by the Headmaster for abandoning him to 12 years at Azkaban and for sending Harry to the Dursleys. He knows a little about Harry dabbling in the dark arts, but is basically out of the loop as far as Harry's secrets go. He's agreed to pass on information from Dumbledore so Harry can keep out of Dumble's manipulations, but doesn't realize that in doing so, he's also passing on information to the Dark side.
Andromeda Tonks – She was first hired to be one of Harry's teachers in wizarding politics/culture, but also became Harry's lawyer as well. She is basically the legal barrier that protects Harry from Dumbledore and the Ministry.
Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger – They have betrayed Harry several times, going to Lupin behind Harry's back and revealing his secrets. Harry doesn't trust them, but he's not quite ready to give up their friendship either.
Sprites – These are tiny elemental manifestations (no bigger than a finger) that Harry can summon through his music and given little task to handle. Aria is Air, Flama is Fire, Triton is Water, and Terra is Earth. They don't talk, but communicate through miming and gestures, and each of them have their own little personalities that I am told by my reviewers are really cute.
Okay, I probably missed something, but I think you can continue on without getting too lost now. If any characters seem OOC it's because their development happened in part 1 of Servitude.
Disclaimer: I own nothing in the world of Harry Potter. Characters and plots all belong to J.K. Rowling and her publishers, so I make no profits or money off this.
Warnings : Rated M for a reason. This story will get a lot darker than Part 1 with heavy HPLV. There will be M/M with an underaged character, heavy BDSM dynamics, and all the other good stuff. If you don't like that, then you are in the wrong place.

Chapter 1 : Troublesome Omens – June 10, 1994
§My room,§ Harry said and watched with great satisfaction as his room quickly turned from the drab prison that it was to the luxurious suit he'd transfigured last summer. Now a whole year later, and much more sensitive and wise to magic, Harry could sense the intricate network of spells and charms that weaved through his room. He was damn proud of it, a labor of love, and was his first truly defiant act against Dumbledore and the Ministry.
Harry couldn't help but feel how his own life changed just as much as his room had. And it was all thanks to Marvolo. The man who was responsible for his parent's death was also the man who empowered him and gave him his independence back. It was funny how things like that worked out.
"Thanks, Marvolo," Harry said, not needing to explain what he was thankful for. Marvolo could probably see it in his eyes.
"You have come a long way, little one," Marvolo said, his tone filled with pride, echoing Harry's thoughts.
They both got ready for bed. Harry stripped down to his boxers and sighed contently when he felt Marvolo's cooler presence spooning his back. Not only did it feel good in the muggy heat of summer, but he missed these quiet nights when he could let his guard down and sink into his friend/lover's arms. It seemed like Fate had conspired against Harry spending time with Marvolo towards the end of third year.
First, the energy that Marvolo sacrificed to track down the traitorous Rat via the Dark Mark had drained the phantom of his magical reserves. It was only just recently that Marvolo could leave the diary for a few hours at a time. And then the chaos that followed Pettigrew's capture, Sirius' trial, and Lupin's hearing by the Board of Governors basically consumed what little free time Harry had outside of reviewing for his exams. His friends kept nagging him for the latest news, aurors and other ministry aurors kept pulling him out of class for every little thing, and Harry grew so paranoid of the Headmaster spying on him that he didn't even dare pull out the diary, let alone write in it. That was also probably why it took so long for Marvolo to build his strength back up.
But now, Harry was back where he belonged, in Marvolo's protective arms. Harry snuggled into his pillow, imagining it was a real arm he was resting on before he flipped around to face his friend, who conveniently emitted a dim silverish glow in the dark room.
"You're restless tonight," Marvolo observed. "Something troubling you?"
Harry shook his head, smiling. "Just ridiculously happy that we're alone again."
This seemed to please Marvolo, for his reddish eyes brightened, and he lowered his lips over Harry's. Harry felt it as a brush of cold air over his face, but readily opened his mouth anyway to let the cool tongue in. He was tempted to close his eyes and lose himself in the kiss, but knew from experience that without the visual cues, it would only feel like he was surrounded by cold air pressing against him. The lack of a real body was a major limit in how far their relationship could go; that and the fact that Marvolo wouldn't be around for much longer. That knowledge was always hanging over Harry's head like a dark thunder cloud, casting a shadow over any enjoyment he found in his friend.
Marvolo sensed Harry's mind had drifted and pulled back, to see those bright green orbs had dimmed.
"I don't want you to go," Harry whispered sadly, tracing the outline of Marvolo's face with his fingertip. "But I know you have to." Harry felt Marvolo's arms close tighter around him.
"When I join with Him, I will not be gone. The only thing that will separate us is if you choose to leave," Marvolo replied, voicing some of his uncertainty.
Harry's head popped up from where he had it tucked beneath other man's chin and he glared. "Not that again." More and more, Marvolo was hinting at the possibility of Harry leaving England after he helped him merge with the main soul piece, and Harry was not going let Marvolo continue thinking that. "If I can still sense any part of you in the Dark Lord, then I will never abandon you." Harry pushed himself up to a sitting position, looking down at his friend with the most determined and stubborn look he could muster. "I want you to teach me how to be the best Death Eater there is, that way the Dark Lord will never have a reason to get rid of me, and I won't be a liability to you either."
Marvolo followed Harry, also sitting up. "You don't know what you are asking for, Child." He was absurdly pleased with Harry's devotion to him, of course he was, but he also dreaded the day when Harry would lose this endearing innocence-in more way than one.
Harry leaned forward, as if doing so would impress upon his friend how serious he was. "Yes I do! I'm not a little kid anymore, I've even…even killed a man already," he whispered the last part, stumbling a little at the mention of Quirrel's death in first year. And then he forged on. "If I can do that to another human being at only 11 years old just to save some stupid rock, than I can do it fighting for you."
Marvolo smiled, enjoying Harry's fiery speech. He had no doubts that Harry could be ruthless and fearsome when it came to protecting something or someone that cared about. "You will make a fine soldier when the time comes, but that was not the innocence I was referring to," he said gently.
Harry ducked his head, suddenly losing his confidence. "I…er…know that too," he mumbled, feeling heat warming his face and was relieved for the darkness. "Maybe not all the details, but it's not as if you haven't given me enough hints about that too."
Marvolo cupped Harry's face, bringing the suddenly shy eyes up to meet him. "And knowing that, are you still willing to serve the Dark Lord, knowing that he-that I-will not only be commanding your wand but also your body? Your heart? He will not settle for anything less than submission, not from the child powerful enough to banish him right out of his own body."
Harry wanted to shrink back from the intensity of Marvolo's glowing red eyes. It scared him a little when Marvolo got like this, but it also secretly thrilled him too. He could feel his heart pumping faster, his hands sweating nervously, and his senses sharpening. "Submission," he repeated, the word reverberating in mind. For some reason, out of everything Marvolo had said, that one word seemed to spear right into his heart and settled there like a great weight. Harry licked his dry lips, hoping to convince Marvolo with a little show of bravado. "If that is what the Dark Lord wants from me…what you want from me, than teach me," Harry said, almost commanding it.
Marvolo looked down at the determined mask Harry had put up, knowing that just below that was a churning sea of uncertainly and anxiety.
Harry saw the doubt in Marvolo's eyes and quickly snatched one of his friend's translucent hands into his own. He decided to try another tract. "Okay, you're right. I'm jumping into this like some impetuous Gryffindor, not knowing what I'm asking for," Harry admitted, grinning a little sheepishly. "But that's all the more reason to teach me what the Dark Lord expects from me. I'd rather ease into this Death Eater stuff and that other stuff too than being plunged in with no preparation at all."
"You manipulative little snake," Marvolo said, sounding almost proud. "Don't think I don't know what you just tried to do."
Harry ducked his head, really sheepish now. He peaked up through his bangs, looking hopeful. "Umm, did it work?"
Marvolo chucked and ruffled Harry's hair, which felt like a like a swirl of cold air over his scalp. "Yes, my devious Little Serpent, and it is still working. I will consider it, and it depends on how fast your training goes. I will not sacrifice your safety just to satisfy your future Master's carnal pleasures."
Harry shivered. "Master…" he breathed, barely audible between them. It suddenly dawned on him that sometime soon, Marvolo would not only be his Lord, but also his Master…and that was a world of difference. It should have scared him, and it did make his belly tighten anxiously, but it was a good anxiousness…sort of like the anticipation before a Quidditch game against the Slytherins.
Seeing as how that one word had rendered the child nearly unresponsive, Marvolo shook his head in fond exasperation before pushing the stunned child back down onto the bed. "Sleep now, my Little One, and think nothing more of this until I make my decision. There are plenty more important things for your busy little mind to obsess over."
Harry nodded distractedly, allowing Marvolo to arrange him however he saw fit. "Marvo…"
"Hush now," Marvolo said firmly, placing a finger over Harry's lips. "Do not allow yourself to become distracted by this insignificant matter."
The uncharacteristic sternness made Harry go alert, and he narrowed his eyes, studying his friend's expression closely. "That was an order, wasn't it?" Harry asked slowly.
Marvolo remained quiet, interested to see how the boy would react. As of yet, he hadn't given Harry any outright orders yet. He gave suggestions, instructions, and directions, but drew himself back from outright commands.
After a while of complete silence, Harry nodded as if his question had been answered. "Good night, Marvolo," he said softly before promptly closing his eyes, and beginning his nightly ritual of organizing the day's memories into his Occlumency shields.
Marvolo smiled in satisfaction. He knew what it had to cost the overly curious boy to suddenly drop the matter. "Good boy." That earned Marvolo a smile and a sweet sigh of contentment, but Harry obediently didn't open his eyes or react in any other way.
The next morning, Harry woke up even earlier than he would for classes. Harry still obeyed the order from last night, and resolutely locked that late night discussion deep into his mind where it wouldn't suddenly pop up and distract him again. He would prove it to Marvolo that he could obey orders.
Just because it was summer now, didn't mean Harry's schedule was going to get any easier. In fact, now more than ever before, Harry was adamant that he not fall behind on his own self-imposed training regimen. And without all the distractions of classes and finally away from Dumbledore's keen eyes, they could progress at a faster rate.
Marvolo wanted to Harry to be able to fight and defend himself, if he was ever unfortunate enough to be separated from his wand. "Wizards, we may be," he said. "But that doesn't mean we have to be helpless without our wands." And so this Summer onward, Harry was going to learn how to fight physically and develop his wandless magic.
In the beginning, Harry's training consisted of hard physical exercise to get his strength and stamina up. Marvolo started him on a mile run every morning before breakfast, and he would increase it accordingly. After breakfast, and before the sun got too hot, Marvolo would take him through a series of martial arts forms that he picked up during his post-Hogwarts travels.
"The far east have a completely different philosophy of magic," Marvolo spoke as Harry repeated a particular sequence of punches, kicks, and shifting stances. He circled the boy, making sure Harry's legs were bent deeply enough, his weight steadily balanced, and his strikes were correctly executed.
Harry had removed his shirt, working out under the sun, and enjoyed the rare breeze as he struggled to hold his stances. In the beginning, Harry was frustrated with how much Marvolo had to correct him. He had a bad habit of slouching and cheating on his stances. What did it matter if his toes were pointed in too much, or what did it matter that he dropped his arms a couple inches when he shifted stances?
Unfortunately Marvolo was not impressed with his reasoning. He was adamant that he perfected the basics before he applied them to actual fighting forms. The next time Harry dropped his arms again, Marvolo slapped him in the head, his hand going right through him, and gave him a mini-brainfreeze. "Now imagine if that was a real punch or a sword," Marvolo said. "You've just lost your head."
Harry's eyes widened and gulped.
It took a few more examples like that, but now Harry's body was learning to adjust itself when he felt even a little off balance or when something wasn't just right. Learning to become aware of his body was crucial to mastering the intermediate and advanced techniques.
"They rarely, if ever, use wands," Marvolo continued. "They believe magic is a natural force that can be channeled through their bodies, and they use martial arts and meditation to guide it. Their bodies actually become their wands. The ability to hold raw magic in the palm of your hand or store it in your body is how you will begin to perform wandless magic."
When the sun was at its highest, Harry went back to his room with liberal cooling charms and began his meditation exercises. Marvolo taught him all about qi energy and chakras. The whole idea seemed weird at first, but as Harry worked at it, he found it was easier to move his magic around inside. It was like a circulatory system specifically for his magic. Meditation helped clear up the clogs, paving a nice clear pathway for his magic to flow easier.
Once the sun went down, after an early dinner, Harry had time to play with his sprites, practice his violin, or do his Summer homework. Harry was probably the most busiest 13—going on 14—year old boy, and Harry couldn't imagine someone like Ron adhering to a schedule like his. But this worked out well for him. It was far better than being locked up in a dark cupboard with only spiders and your own imagination to keep you company. Then, every night, after a cool shower, Harry fell into his bed exhausted but deeply satisfied.
This all changed in the second week of July, and not in a good way either.
When they slept, Marvolo was usually a cool and calming presence at his back. He felt secure wrapped up in his friend's arms. But tonight, the magic that made Marvolo whatever he was, changed. Against Harry's skin, it suddenly felt oily, greasy, and just plain wrong. It was bad enough to wake Harry up from another exhaustive sleep.
He wiggled around so he could face his friend. The first thing he noticed was that Marvolo was still asleep, though it was clearly troubled, almost like he was having a bad dream. This was unusual on its own, since Harry couldn't ever recall Marvolo having nightmares in all the time they slept together. But what made his heart race in fear was the sudden appearance of a lightening bolt scar right in the middle of his forehead, where none existed before. It was the exact shape, size, and position as Harry's, and it pulsed angrily.
It was the source of the malevolent magic that woke him up.
Scared for his friend, Harry reached out, but before he could, Marvolo's eyes snapped open, flickering back and forth unseeingly or seeing something else that was not in Harry's room. Not only was this totally creepy, but what looked out of those orbs was definitely not his friend. These blood red eyes were filled with rage, vengeance, and madness, where Marvolo's was serene and calm. Some parsel words slipped out of his friend's mouth, but it was all harsh and spitty, not at all like Marvolo's normally smooth hissing.
This made Harry leap off the bed in fear, but he was even more afraid for his friend. "Okay, Harry, pull yourself together," he scolded himself. And then, calling up his Gryffindor bravery, Harry reached out again with a shaky hand.
The instant he made contact with Marvolo's shoulder, his mind was suddenly attacked by images that flashed through his mind so fast that he couldn't make any sense of it. One image was of some decrepitly, foul looking creature that resembled a cross between a hag and a goblin. This creature had the same crazy, red eyes. Then, just as quickly, the image disappeared.
"Harry! Harry!"
The sound and the cold gush of air to his face pulled Harry out of his trance, but before he was completely free of it, one name flittered through his mind. Bertha Jorkins."Who's Bertha Jorkins," Harry blurted the instant he opened his eyes.
The question obviously surprised Marvolo, but he didn't answer. "Are you alright?" he asked instead, looking up and down the boy as if to look for some kind of injury.
That made Harry aware of his headache and how hysterically scared he was for his friend. "Me?" he asked incredulously. "What about you? You had a nightmare! I didn't even know you could have nightmares. And you got my scar!" Harry's eyes flickered up to Marvolo's forehead and gasped. It was swollen, pinkish, and… "It's bleeding!" he gasped, panicking. What on earth do you do for a ghost that was freaking bleeding?
"Harry." Marvolo placed a finger over Harry's lips to stop him from babbling. "You're bleeding too," he said softly, just as worried.
Harry blinked, caught his breath, and shakily reached up to feel a thick wetness on his fingertips. It was also hot to the touch and still throbbed painfully. "What…what's going on?" Harry asked, his voice quivering. Whatever just happened was definitely not your average nightmare.
Marvolo, unable to watch the boy so frightened especially because of his other half, pulled the boy's small body into him and held him until Harry stopped shaking like a leaf. "I have an idea of what's happening, but before I get into it, go get your first aid kit. Clean your wound and put some numbing ointment on it. An anti-headache potion would also be helpful." He was going to suggest adding a calming potion on top of that, but he wanted the boy alert when he told him about what happened.
Having clear cut instructions helped Harry find his center again. He used the familiar motions of applying the medicine to calm himself. "Would these potions help you?" Harry asked, feeling better already.
Marvolo shook his head, smiling reassuringly. "I'll be fine. I don't have a body, so I do not feel the pain like you do." Instead, he felt it throughout his entire soul, but he wasn't going to tell the boy that.
Harry believed him and climbed on to the bed, placing himself back into Marvolo's lap. Obviously he was still feeling shaken and needed the physical connection to reassure himself. Marvolo wouldn't admit it, but he also felt better holding the boy in his arms as well.
"Was that…Voldemort?" Harry finally asked quietly.
Marvolo was pleased Harry picked that much up. His Little One tended to act like he was clueless, but Marvolo knew it was mostly a mask, first for the Dursleys, then to his friends, and finally to Dumbledore. Harry would not have survived his short but troublesome life if he was really as slow as he acted.
Marvolo nodded to answer Harry's question. "You mentioned Bertha Jorkins," Marvolo began, rubbing the boy's back soothingly. "Did you also see the visions too?"
Harry nodded jerkily and curled deeper into his friend. "They were all scrambled up though, so I couldn't see much." Harry's brow furrowed in concentration. "But I did see that creepy goblin looking thing. It had His eyes." Harry looked up, his own green eyes wide. "You saw it too, right. That was Him, wasn't it?"
Marvolo's face twisted in disgust. "I'm appalled to say it, but that was my other self," he answered. "I will tell you what I know. My other self has been possessing little animals, jumping from creature to creature, just like he did with your first DADA professor. With each life he takes, he grows a little stronger, and now he's built himself a golem and filled it with his soul. That's what that creature was. We are fortunate that only horcuxes can sense the main soul and not the other way around."
Harry agreed. He wasn't so keen on having Voldemort discover where they were or what they were doing. "So he's back then," Harry breathed.
"Not entirely," Marvolo said. "That golem is only temporary, and it cannot channel magic as effectively as a real body can. What it does for him though-and this is what worries me-is that it'll be easier for him to build a real body or perform the resurrection ritual."
Harry remembered what his friend said about being kidnapped. "I'll have to be careful from now on."
"And I'll always be with you," Marvolo added.
"Should I warn Professor Snape?"
Marvolo was silent for a moment. "Do you really want to?"
Harry nodded. "I think he should know."
"Very well, then," Marvolo said reluctantly. For a boy who kept many secrets, he knew Harry hated lying to those closest to him. "As long as he doesn't warn the Headmaster."
"Thanks," Harry said and then he had an idea. "If Voldemort can build himself a body, why can't we do the same for you?"
Marvolo shook his head. "Remember, I am only a horcrux, two horcruxes actually," he answered. "But even two horcruxes is not enough soul to fill even the smallest of golems."
Right then, Harry promised himself that even if he had to Avada Voldemort from his new body, he'd do it so his friend could merge with the rest of his soul. "Is Bertha Jorkins just someone he possessed then?"
"No, he took her for information," Marvolo said, shifting through the jumble of images that he got. Finally, he found the images he was looking for, and in doing so sat up straight. "That Old Fool," Marvolo half hissed.
Harry's eyes widened. Now what? It was rare for Marvolo to get so mad that he'd slip into parseltongue. "What? What did you see?"
Marvolo rubbed the bridge of his nose, more out of habit than to relieve any tension. "Apparently, our esteemed Headmaster decided to resurrect the ancient and barbaric Triwizard Tournament." Seeing Harry's blank look, Marvolo continued to explain. "The Triwizard Tournament is a competition hosted by either Hogwarts, Beaubaton, or Durmstrang. This year it will be at Hogwarts. A student from each school is chosen to represent their school and each face three challenges during the year. Points are given for how successful a student is, and the ultimate winner at the end of the year gets the Triwizard Cup and some monetary award."
Harry's Gryffindor side liked the idea of a competition involving other schools. "That sounds like fun," he said, as long as he was not one of the competitors. He had enough on his plate as it was.
"Except that it was stopped a hundred years ago because too many students died," Marvolo said dryly.
Harry deflated. "Really? People actually died?" he asked incredulously. "Wait a minute. Why would Old Dumbles want to host something so dangerous?"
"Why would he house the Sorcerer's Stone inside a school full of children?" Marvolo returned.
Harry's heart sunk. "Is it some kind of test then?" Harry asked. "For me?"
Marvolo remained quiet, but that was answer enough.
Harry suddenly felt like danger was coming at him from all sides. Not that Hogwarts was ever really safe for him, but that was because of the Headmaster's manipulations. This time, the threat was coming from the Dark Lord himself, and that was a whole other level of dangerousness. At least he still had Marvolo, but even that seemed too fleeting for Harry's comfort. Someday soon, Marvolo would have to leave him to join the rest of his soul, and by then Harry would have to be strong enough to stand on his own.
A/N: Well, there's your first chappie in the sequel. To be honest, I sort of creeped myself out when I wrote Marvolo getting visions from Voldie, but it makes sense that Marvolo gets the visions instead of Harry, right? I'd love to know what you guys think, especially the direction I am taking Harry and Marvolo's relationship and how that will carry over to Harry and Voldemort's relationship.
I know it looks pretty canon so far (minus Marvolo), but let me assure you that it's definitely NOT. Just to put your fears to rest, Voldie's resurrection will be during Harry's winter break rather than at the end of the year. After that, this story will take a sharp left turn and things will get much darker, and dicier.
Up Next : Harry and Severus clash on what positions they want to play in the upcoming war.
