Prologue~~
She has always had a love for nature, for the wind, and the sun, and the grass, and the animals, and all of that which makes up our Mother Earth. She would sit under the trees and roll in the grass coming to a stop to just listen.
Listening in peace to the sounds of the earth; the voice of the wind whispering through the leaves telling her things she could never understand. The song birds lulling her into a trance, feeling as though she was connected with all that was around her.
It was as if she could feel it, just there in the very back of her conscious the low hum of the cord of life in all the creatures near. The constant tiny vibration of growing trees, brightly colored flowers, and the green grass; always giving her comfort so she was never truly alone.
She would spend hours on the hills where she grew as a child, laughing and chasing butterflies through to the orchards where her father grew his apple and plum trees. Her father always told her they were a gift for her birth.
He would tell her, “One day it was just a grassy field and that night the Mother gifted you to us, the next morning there they stood; proud and tall as if they had been there fifty years. The Mother did more than just give us you, she gave us all of this, all that you can see is yours little dove, it is yours to make whole again, it is yours to regrow. It is a gift, a gift only for you.”
A tale her father would tell, one of the many that he told her as he would tuck her in and kiss her goodnight. She had no idea how true the childhood tale her father told was, not until much later.
She had a blessed childhood growing up in her family's manor surrounded by her mother and father and the many people that helped them keep the house and the surrounding lands in order.
Her parents gave her anything she could ever hope for, always telling her that she was their blessing, they were the happiest of families. She could remember back to her childhood and running through the large halls of the manor screaming with joy as one of the maids would chase along after her.
Her father, Donald Granger would always come out of his office to stop her and remind her that, “Granger ladies do not get caught running along the hallways like there is a stampede of antelope’ behind you.” With a very stern face that would always crack into a long smile and low chuckle when he looked down on the golden brown curly haired angle that was his daughter. She could do no wrong in his eyes, anything for his little princess.
Lord Donald Granger was a very kind man with one of the biggest hearts a person could have. He was always there to give a helping hand, and when it came to his daughter always there with a knee to sit on and stories to tell.
He often would travel away to London to take care of the family accounts but would never come home empty handed. She would sit under her favorite oak at the top of the hill in front of the manor everyday he was gone reading a booking waiting to see her father’s car come down the drive.
When she did she would snap her book shut and run as fast as her small legs could take her down the hill and up the gravel drive launching herself into her father’s waiting arms. He would spin her around and around as she giggled with pure joy at her father’s return. He would set her down kneeling in front of her and always produce the same shaped package.
“Daddy, did you get me a present?! I hope it is the book I asked for!” she would say crossing her fingers and smiling so large at him one would think she’d pull a muscle.
Of course he always did, she’d laugh and he would say “Now take me to your mother, where has she gotten off to?” She would put her tiny perfect hand into his large one and drag her father along through the gardens to find her mother.
Lady Jane Granger was a beautiful woman full of life and love, always wanting to learn more and always willing to help where ever she can. She had passed down her love of books and knowledge to her daughter.
Often searching the halls for her only to find her under her tree on top of her hill with a book in her lap, one of the many she had grabbed from the library that were scattered around her.
She was always caught up in doing various charity balls, dressing her daughter up to show off to her friends how proud she was of her. As much as her daughter fought against all the frills and fluff, wishing she could be running through the woods behind her home rather than talking to a bunch of rich boring “old people”. A part of her liked getting dressed up, and an even larger part of her loved making her mother happy and going shopping and attending these events made her mother over joyed.
She was always a happy peaceful child, beautiful with golden brown curls, light olive skin with the cutest dusting of freckles on her button nose. Her amber eyes almost seemed to glow as her gaze seemed to look into people, always questioning wanting to know more. Her perfectly pink heart shape lips were always swooping up into the most contagious smile always asking question; and her laugh would always sooth people like the mild spring wind infectious to warm your soul.
She truly had a blessed childhood, never wanting for anything, never lacking in love; having the hills and the woods, the gardens and orchards around her home to explore as much as she wanted. Her family library to always keep her mind entertained and her mother and father to always give her strength.
Hermione Jane Granger was blessed by the Mother in more ways than she could ever imagine.
