Snape wanted the yelling to stop. His parents were fighting again. Their words were trying to pierce one another. Severus covered his ears, hating the sound. His eyes were shut tight, hoping this was all a horrible dream. For if his father decided he grew tired with fighting with his wife, he would come after Severus, and this would end badly for him.
Finally the noise ended, and Snape opened his eyes, he heard a loud slam of a door, and heard his father uttering the most unfriendly words. His mother didnt bother to check on him, she went to bed. The young boy longed for peace and silence. Severus looked down at his shaky pale hands, they were covered with sweat. Looking at his mismatched dirty clothes, he wiped his hands on his pants. He wished for peace, he wished to be away from this place. He could not wait till he went to Hogwarts. It would be his first year, and this was the only thing that made him truly happy.

Then the day finally came, the day where he would leave for Hogwarts. Oh it was a glorious day indeed. For once his clothes were actually clean and new since he had to purchase robes and such. His long black hair still hung in his face, his brown hues looked down as he made his way to Kings Cross Station. His eyes stayed on the ground till he came to platform 9 and 3/4 . Looking up, he had to make sure he did this just right, getting some distance, he took a bit of a run as he ran right through the wall to where the Hogwarts train was waiting.
His eyes lit up for a moment, seeing the glorious train would take him to his new home. White smoke from the train bellowed up as it seemed to dance slightly as the train stayed stationary. So many first years where there along with students that had been there for years. Laughter filled the platform, as students began to board.

Severus quickly got on board, wanting to get a good seat, he hoped it would be one that was by himself though at least for a little while. Finding an empty room, he walked in. The red and gold colors made the room so bright and joyful. Severus smiled as he sat down, looking at the window. After a few minutes the trains whistle blew indicating it was about to leave. There was a jolt then there was a slow movement of the train as it slowly picked up speed.

His dark eyes saw trees and mountains streaked by. He became mesmerized until he heard a voice. It was female and soft. Severus turned his gaze from the beautiful scenery, to a red-headed girl. Her pale skin was like milk, and her hair like fiery roses. His cheeks became flushed, as Severus was surprised he was being spoken to, especially by a girl.
“I beg your pardon.... what did you say?” he said softly. His eye peaked through his dark hair as the girl smiled.
“I said may I set with you? All the other cars are full.” She said with a kind smile.
“Oh... oh yes please have a seat..” he said gesturing to the seat across from him.
Sitting there for a moment, he didnt speak again. His nerves became tense and his hands clammy. The young girl tilted her head, her red hair streaming down her shoulders. Leaning forward she asked.
“Whats your name?” her voice asked cheerfully.
Severus swallowed as he had to think. “Its Severus....Severus Snape....”he said his eyes quickly looking up at her than back down. The girl smiled. “I'm Lily, Lily Evans.” She said as she extended her hand to him. Snape moved his hair out of his eyes to see her slender hand in front of him. Taking her hand he shook it quickly. He didnt want her to feel the sweat that now covered his hands.

As the trip went on. Snape and Lily, found out they were neighbors at Spinners End. Lily had wonderful parents but her sister Petunia , seemed to be rather bitter that Lily was a witch and was accepted to the best Wizard and Witch school. It seemed that time stood still, he didnt even know that they had reached their destination. Lily smiled as she tapped Snape on his leg.
“Severus... we are here.” she said sweetly. As she stood up.
“Oh... so we are...” he said as he stood up.
She smiled as she waved she went to leave the train. Snape exited the doors and was on cloud nine. Him being in a good mood for once, he didnt notice where he was going. His slender body then felt himself bounce off two bodies. Stumbling backwards, he looked up to see two boys.

“Hey watch where your going...” A boy with glasses said.
A boy with long hair merely stood next to the boy with glasses.
Snape looked up and uttered. “I'm sorry.....” Snape uttered quickly as he ran off the train.
His heart pounded in his chest. He wasnt good with people yelling or talking down to him, so he decided not to fight. This angered him a little he wished he could defend himself. Some day he would defend himself he thought. With these things rolling around in his head, he walked with his fellow first years as they were taken to Hogwarts to be sorted.

As they arrived at the castle, Snape's dark hues saw the great majesty that was Hogwarts. As they walked up the stone steps and led into the great hall, they were seated at long tables. Looking up he saw candles floating, it was magic. True magic keeping them there.

Taking a seat next to a blonde boy, he looked and saw a few tables away was Lily. She waved to Snape as he waved back, a smile now on his face.
As the looked at the headmaster, they heard the wonderful words welcoming the new students. Snape looked around, maybe things will be fine for him. He only had one bad experience. Surly it had to be better than his home life right?
