The Hunter-Gratzner was like flying coach in space with no free peanuts and drink. The compliment of forty passengers was asleep, some not peacefully, in their cryo-beds on their way to Helion Prime. For some that was their final destination, others, it was just a connector to farther reaches of space. It had been programmed to follow a set route that proved safe for multiple trips before this one. However, a comet happened to pass through the system at the same time as the Hunter-Gratzner.
The first piece of debris that breached the hull pierced the cryo-pod of the ship’s captain. At least he died in his sleep. This sent a signal immediately to wake the other crew members. Carolyn Fry, docking pilot, was the first to wake and see the bloody remains of the captain across from her. She hit the emergency release and panicked as soon as she hit the ground. There wasn’t supposed to be any gravity. Alarms could be heard coming from the bridge of the ship. She quickly made her way towards the pilot seat and strapped in.
The first thing she saw was view of a planet taking up the whole of the bridge window. It was scary the speed that they were approaching. She did the first thing she could think of and tried to pull the nose of the ship up, but it was far too heavy. The next set was the air brakes, one worked, the other was stuck fast. She looked to see the navigator stumble through the door as the ship rocked entering the atmosphere. She watched him strap in as well before turning her attention back on trying to save her ass.
“We’re not supposed to be approaching any planets. We’re too heavy.” The navigator said as he sent out a distress signal while trying to figure out where they were. He did not know what Fry had already considered doing.
“I know. We have to lighten our load.” Before the other could process what that could entail, she had already pressed the cargo release button and sealed the air locks.
“You can’t fucking do that!” the navigator yelled over the rumbling of their fall towards the planet. “Those are our responsibility.”
“We’re too heavy,” was all that Fry said as she pushed the button release the next cargo section. The navigator scrambled from his seat and grabbed a piece of broken metal piping and ran towards the rear of the last cargo section and wedged the metal between the closing doors of the airlock. Fry got an error message on her screen as she pressed the release for the final section. She looked back at the stuck air brake and kicked it hard until they engaged. The Ship jerked as it caught air, but it was still falling fast. She tried to bring the nose up as the neared the ground. It came slowly, but by the time the ship made contact with the sandy terrain of the planet it was not a pretty impact.
Harry James Potter had decided he wanted to see the universe since Earth was practically destroyed anyway. He had travelled and watched the known universe grown and change of upwards of eight thousand years. He was immortal. Harry had gained his immortality through a happenstance of unfortunate events. Harry was a wizard that happened to be in possession of three artifacts that gave him reign over Death. The Deathly Hallows consisted of the resurrection stone, the elder wand, and the invisibility cloak of Death. He won them after fighting a magical war that could have been prevented, and was rather petty in the large scheme of the universe. Harry had seen plenty war in his long life and the one her fought as a child made him bitter that it was fought at all. They all ended up dead or scattered anyway.
Harry decided that he would take a circuitous route to Helion Prime this time around, because he wasn’t in a hurry. He had all the time in the universe to get wherever he was going. He was woken rather abruptly by the cryo-pod he was in tore apart and jettisoned him from the interior of the cargo hold where he was housed. He saw the ground come at him fast, much too fast for any normal human to survive, but he was Harry Potter, Master of Death.
It was little comfort when his body impacted the compacted sand of the desert planet. He felt all the major bones in his body break with the force of his landing. He knew skin ripped apart as bone shards exited through. He even knew that his internal organs were somewhat more of a more liquid nature now, but still Harry stayed conscious as he lay in a crater created by the crashed cargo ship.
Harry closed his eyes to the bright sun beating down upon his broken body and waited for the inevitable. It came a few moment later much faster and stronger than any other time his body had healed grievous wounds. His body shook and shuddered in spasms of rapidly healing flesh and bone. He sat up with a final jolt as his magic snapped excitedly in his core. Harry took stock of his reserves and was surprised when he felt them full to the brim. Then, he felt the tendril coming from the planet and leeching into his skin.
“Well, Bloody Hell!” He exclaimed as he stood shielding his eyes to the Three! Suns of the planet. “Great Merlin, my tan’s going to get far darker in this place than expected.”
Harry cast a cooling charm upon his self and sighed in relief from the intense heat. He looked around him and saw the line the wreckage made in the sand dunes of the planet. He saw scattered metal, cryo-pods, hunks of hull, and finally the main body of the ship about three kilometers away. He pulled his wand, at least one of them, and placed it in the palm of his hand and cast ‘point me’ towards his things. It pointed behind him towards the crushed ruin of his particular section of the ship.
He headed towards the metal heap and was glad that his possessions had preservation and protection charms on them. He flicked his wrist with casually breaking open the wreck and summoning his trunk. He placed on the ground in front of him and opened it. He pulled out clean clothing to replace the bloody ruins of his current attire. He stripped right there and discarded the rags to the ground and slipped into a pair of cargo shorts and a tank top. He casted a charm on his ass length hair to pull itself up into a high pony tail off his neck.
Harry’s hair had been a contentious battle most of his immortal and mortal life. He had finally come to the realization that the longer the better. So he sported past waist length hair for the last three thousand years. He looked feminine with the hair and lithe, athletic build of his body. The luminous green eyes that he inherited from his mother leant even more to his beauty, but he was still all man. A fighter and sometimes bad guy, Harry decided that he could take whatever role he decided in the universe.
He pulled water and rations from a compartment in his trunk. He kept it stocked because any number of things could happen while traveling. He closed and shrunk his trunk placing it in his pocket and heading towards the larger wreckage and hopefully survivors.
The shot hit him square in the chest, but he didn’t go down. He knew exactly what to do as soon as he saw the man with the rifle aimed at him. He immobilized him and cast a memory charm. He repaired his clothing just as people rounded the corner running to see what the shot meant.
“I thought he was Riddick. I could have killed him!” John ‘Zeke’ Ezekiel said as someone took the rifle out of his shaking hands.
“Are you alright?” Sharon ‘Shazza’ Montgomery asked Harry as she comforted her husband Zeke.
“Right as rain, however it was a close call there,” Harry smiled at the group that surrounded him. “Harry Potter, survivor.”
He reached out his hand to the nearest person which happened to be their defacto captain Carolyn Fry. She looked at his hand and the direction he came from. “You survived the crash?”
“Seems so, since I’m walking and talking to you. Where exactly are we?” Harry didn’t bother to force introduction, because he thought that they would all get around to it, but he did have one question. “Who’s Riddick and why does he warrant being shot?”
A blond, blue eyed man in a police uniform named William J. Johns spoke to answer his question. “Riddick is a prisoner that was being transported that escaped custody after the crash. He’s a convicted murderer and criminal, a very dangerous man.” Johns smiled at Harry as he looked him up and down. Harry noticed this and ignored the appraisal.
“Oh, well what does he look like, because if he looks like me enough for him to shoot at me, then I’d like to know otherwise?” Harry’s voice was full of sarcasm and he got a frown from Shazza for it.
Johns answered again, “6’2”, muscular, bald and is wearing welding goggles. Nobody else here looks like him.” Johns smirked over at Zeke as well and earned a frown from Shazza too.
“So does anyone know where we are and can we get off the planet?” Harry asked again. He followed the subtle looks towards Fry. He looked intently at her and waited.
“We sent a distress signal, but we are off regular shipping lanes. We found a settlement, but no one has lived there for a while. We also found a beat up emergency shuttle that could still be in working condition, but we won’t know until we can get a power cell to it get the on-board computer working.” Fry watch the man in front of her closely for any reaction to the news that they weren’t as screwed as they seemed. He didn’t make any indication that he was worried either way. She felt even guiltier looking at him knowing that she had actually dropped his section of the ship. “Maybe you should go on the inside. These suns are baking all of us and you probably had a hell of a walk. I’m Carolyn Fry by the way.” She gestured Harry towards the shelter of the crashed ship.
Harry nodded and followed Fry toward the cooler interior. As they neared the makeshift entrance, which was just a large rip in the hull, they heard gunshots and screaming. They both bolted towards a large hole in the ground with a tarp obscuring it partially. Shazza was yelling obscenities at someone Harry thought fit the description from Johns to a ‘T’. The man, Riddick, held a knife in his hand looked at them and bolted. He ran past one of the numerous spires that reminded Harry of hollow termite mounds on Earth. As Riddick passed the spire Johns stepped out behind him as hit his legs with an assault baton bring Riddick down.
Shazza ran up and started to kick at Riddick as Johns ripped the goggles off the man’s face. Harry watched Riddick cringe at the sudden light and shield his eyes. He looked like a trapped animal and Harry had no wish to get near the man.
“What did you do to him? Where’s Zeke you bastard!?” Shazza tried to take another swipe at him, but Johns pushed her back and hit Riddick over the head with the baton. Riddick went still instantly.
“Hey, Harry, can you help me get him inside and restrained? He’s heavier than he looks.”
Harry smirked, “He looks like he weighs a ton, but I think between the two of us we can tote him.” Harry grabbed one of Riddick’s arms while Johns grabbed the other. They lifted and dragged the criminal into the ship. Johns sat Riddick on a chair and chained his arms to opposite walls of the compartment. Harry took the time to admire how attractive Riddick was. The man was quite fit. His handsome face and body were not marred by any visible scarring or wounds, even recently from their banging up crash. His skin was a pale coffee color. Harry especially liked the man’s hands. They were smooth and large with blunted nails tipping medium fingers. They looked strong. Harry figured the man was going to be cross with anyone there when woke so he joined the others back out at the hole in the ground.
The hole was supposed to be a mass grave for the passengers that died. Harry admired the man, Zeke, for choosing to do such back breaking labor for strangers and under the heat of three suns. Inside the hole was a large spray of blood and what looked like a small tunnel opening near the carnage. Harry cocked his head at the scene and looked towards everyone else.
Shazza was ranting at Johns, “Someone just go kill him. Why can’t he just have died like the others?” She looked almost hysterical, but her anger as Riddick kept her from collapsing. “We need to find Zeke!”
Harry waited for someone to acknowledge what he could see clearly, but no one did. Harry took a deep breath and turned to the woman. “Riddick didn’t kill your husband.”
Everyone turned towards him as if he had just said that they were in the middle of a snow storm. Shazza was the first to speak.
“Of course he did! He was standing at the hole with a knife. I saw him. He’s a murderer! He killed Zeke.” Shazza stomped over during her tirade to look at Harry in the eyes like her conviction would convince him.
Harry just stared at her with one of his Snape “you imbecile” stares. “No, he didn’t, but something in that hole did.” Harry pointed to the tunnel opening where the blood pooled in a black puddle.
“Listen here Potter, Riddick’s a real bad guy and does this kind of thing all the time. He likes doing it. He was running away with a weapon. Shazza saw him.”
Harry sighed heavily and shook his head in the negative. “Johns, I’m not arguing whether Riddick is a bad guy, but unless he’s bullet proof and a miracle worker he did not kill that man. Look at the hole and tell me what you see.” Harry pointed.
“I see a bunch of blood spilled by Riddick,” Johns said stubbornly.
Harry nodded, “I see blood outside a subterranean tunnel and no body.”
“Riddick must have stuffed him down the tunnel,” Shazza accused.
“In less than a minute? Where’s the blood on Riddick? Where’s the blood on the knife he supposedly used?” Harry looked at each person standing at the lip of the hole. No one could say anything to his logic. “I thought so. Riddick probably saw what took him though. Anybody want to volunteer to go ask?”
Johns shook his head knowing Riddick would tell him a damn thing. Fry turned suddenly and stalked towards the opening near where Riddick was tied. She entered the room and saw Riddick was slumped with his eyes closed in the chair.
“We know you didn’t kill Zeke.” She began and Riddick started a deep chuckling at her statement. “I don’t see what’s funny. Did you see what’s down there?”
“Closer.”
“What?” Fry asked.
“Come closer,” Riddick’s deep voice beckoned Fry closer to his chained form. She was cautious, but the fact that she knew he hadn’t killed Zeke took some of the edge off her fear of Riddick. As she got near enough, he lunged from the chair just short of her position, only stopped by the chains restraining him. “You people are so afraid of me, but now there’s something more dangerous than me coming for you.”
Fry was more frustrated about the fact Riddick wouldn’t look at her, than his baiting. “Look at me.” She spoke evenly with more confidence than she felt at what was down that hole. She got more frustrated when Riddick didn’t comply immediately. “Look at me!”
Riddick grinned ferally and opened his eyes to reveal shiny pools of silver. Fry jumped when the voice of the young stowaway broke her shock. “Whoa, how do I get eyes like that?”
Riddick chuckled darkly, “You got to kill a few people.”
“I can do that,” Jack said eagerly. Fry frowned.
Riddick continued, “Then you got to be thrown into a slam where they say you’ll never see daylight again. Then you dig up a doctor and pay him twenty menthol Kools to do a shine job on your eyes.”
Fry looked at Jack and frowned as she recognized the gleam of hero worship, “Jack get out of here.”
“But I want to watch Riddick.”
“Out Jack,” Fry said harshly. Jack scowled and stomped out of the area and left. “Are you going to tell us what you saw?”
“Teeth,” Riddick answered. “Had a lot of teeth.” He started chuckling again and Fry got frustrated and turned to leave.
Once outside she rejoined the group that was in the midst of discussion. She stomped up with a grimace on her face. “All he said was it had a lot of teeth.”
“Then, don’t you think we should not be here,” said Paris Ogilvie, antiquities dealer.
“I agree,” Shazza said lowly. “Whatever got Zeke can come for us as well. We can get most of what we can salvage on that old cat we found. I’ll get the water pump working quickly and we could house ourselves there away from that hole.” She couldn’t even make herself look at the area.
“What are we going to do about Riddick?” Paris asked looking back towards the place Riddick was currently housed.
“Will you be able to keep him from harming the children,” Abu, the Imam, asked Johns.
Johns rocked on his feet as he looked behind him like Riddick was watching him. “Riddick’s stuck just like us. If we give him the option to help out without being in chains he may take it.”
“And if he doesn’t?” Harry asked looking at Johns hard. He didn’t trust this man by a long shot. Harry recognized Johns’ type well. He spoke in dire consequences to make him look like a savior, but he didn’t have any more control over the situation than anyone else.
“Well, I’ll have to handle it,” Johns patted his sidearm and smirked at Harry.
“Well go see what he’s going to do,” Paris urged the bounty hunter on.
Johns turned towards the ship and Harry followed just to see these to interact and get a good bead on Riddick. They walked into the prison space and Riddick lifted his head eyes closed and grinned.
“Johns, what goin’ on?” Riddick sounded so at ease that Harry at to smile at the man’s baiting.
“This is how it’s going to be Riddick. You go free, but no shivs and you help out.” Johns said.
“Is that right? What you gone say when we get out of here?”
“I don’t see anything that proves you didn’t die in the crash. Truth is, I’m tired of chasing you all over space.”
“You know Johns I don’t believe a word you’re saying. I think you better ghost me motherfucker, because I do the same to you.” Riddick went silent waiting for Johns. He leaned out of the sun light filtering through the torn hull. He opened his eyes and stared at Johns.
Johns pulled his sidearm and pointed at Riddick’s head and fired. The shot didn’t hit Riddick, but the chains holding him to the wall. “You remember this Riddick and how it could have gone.”
Riddick stood pulling the chains from his wrists and approached Johns. Faster than Johns could react Riddick had the gun and turned back on its owner. “You remember this Johns and how it could have gone.” Riddick dropped the gun and grabbed his goggles out of Johns hand tugging them on. He swept out of the room and out into the suns.
“He’s very dramatic,” Harry said to Johns and followed the way Riddick went.
They moved to the village rather quickly with the help of the salvaged vehicle from the settlement. Harry watched as Riddick hoofed it next to them in the vehicle toting one of the 35kg power cells that would help Fry diagnose whether they had a way off planet. Harry watched Riddick’s muscles glisten as he trudged through the desert. Harry entertained thoughts of how that pale coffee skin would taste. Would it taste salty or bitter sweet? Harry had developed a taste for bad boys over the millennia and Riddick fit the profile. Perfectly.
“Where were you headed, Harry? I mean before this planet.”
Harry turned to Johns surprised the man wanted a heart to heart. “Helion Prime for a while and then, wherever I felt like after that. I’ve a wanderlust.”
Johns looked at Harry like he was on the menu, but Harry ignored the man’s obvious interest. He turned his attention back to watching Riddick sweat and move.
“You know I can protect you from him if he bothers you?” Johns whispered near Harry’s ear.
Harry snorted, “I can protect myself, thank you. I don’t think I will have a problem with Riddick bothering me.” Harry smiled at Johns and turned his attention to the horizon, a sun was coming up.
“Riddick’s been locked up a long time. He’s not safe around attractive people like yourself.” Harry wanted to gag. Was Johns really hitting on him this hard? Was the man high? And then, that’s when Harry looked the man in the eyes hard and saw his pupils dilated and blown. He looked far giddier than he should with the heat beating down on them. He subtly cast a diagnostic spell on Johns and saw the man had morphine running through his system. Harry just shook his head and turned away.
“I think I’ll be alright, besides he had Shazza and Fry as options to bother.”
Harry staked out a single person dwelling towards the middle of the settlement. He quickly cleared most of the items that had been left and abandoned by the settlers. He took out his trunk and enlarged it. He warded the doors for intruders and set about having a private meal and a nap. His wards tingled while he was chewing an energy bar and undressing to lie down.
He looked up to the goggle protected eyes of Riddick. The man was looking at his power bar. Harry bent to his trunk in nothing but his boxer-briefs and pulled another out and tossed it to the man. Riddick caught it deftly and closed the door as he entered fully into the one room dwelling.
“I didn’t see you load that onto the cat.” He stated.
Harry just grinned as he sat on the edge of the cleaned cot, “Maybe you weren’t watching close enough?”
Riddick smirked, “I’ve been watching you since Zeke shot you in the chest.” Riddick answered. He felt satisfied when Harry stiffened at his statement.
“Zeke didn’t shoot me, he missed. I think you need to get your eyes examined, because you’re seeing things, Mr. Riddick.” Harry slid a hand up his inner thigh as he ogled Riddick openly.
“Just like I didn’t see that trunk get loaded, I guess I didn’t see what you did to Johns either on the trip over.” Harry sat up at that.
“You saw that?” Harry looked more curious than panicked. “Can you see this?” Harry sent a body bind towards Riddick and the man stepped away from the, should be, invisible spell. Harry grinned.
“What the hell is that?” Riddick looked at Harry putting some distance between them.
Harry grinned again and relaxed back on the bed. “Magic. We could make another type of magic. Johns said it’s probably been a while.”
Harry waved his hand and his hair fell free and loose. It draped him in a raven curtain of satin. He banished his pants to the trunk and sat naked for Riddick perusal. He couldn’t be sure of what Riddick was looking at on him. Harry tilted his head at the goggles and decided they had to go.
“Hold still for this. It won’t hurt.” Harry waved is hand and waited for Riddick’s reaction. It came swiftly. Riddick pulled off the goggles and Harry saw bright hazel eyes staring intently at him.
“What did you do?” Riddick asked.
“You know what I did, but no worries I can reverse it. I just wanted to be able to look you in the eyes while you fucked me.” Harry waited for Riddick to make a move.
He didn’t wait long. Riddick stripped in record time. He hovered over Harry’s body on the bed. He took deep breaths close to Harry’s skin. Harry hardened as he felt Riddick’s lust and arousal become palpable in the small room. Harry slid his leg against Riddick’s hardened flesh and reveled in the groan he elicited. Riddick thrust against his thigh, rubbing his leaking juices against tanned skin.
Harry stopped resisting the urge to taste Riddick and dipped his into the man’s collarbone. He lightly bit into the flesh and felt his own arousal sky rocket at the exquisite taste of hardened man. Riddick tasted of spice and darkness. It was crisp and clean. Harry liked how the man growled in his ear before flipping him over onto his stomach. Riddick spread Harry’s legs apart, as far as the bed would allow that meant Harry was still on it. Harry reached a hand to the side summon lube and Riddick snatched from the air.
Riddick looked down on the pale tanned skin of the man beneath him and smiled. He moved the long hair away from covering Harry’s ass. He drizzled some of the lube across Harry’s round ass and enjoyed the sight. He leaned over to nip and nuzzle Harry’s nape as he rub his cock in the crevice of Harry’s ass. He let his cock slip and slide in the groove for a few strokes and then reached a hand down to follow the path his cock had.
A finger pushed slowly into Harry’s hole. It was well lubed and just enough force to push in with no discomfort. Riddick used a single finger until Harry called for more by mewling and pushing back hard on the single digit. Riddick grinned and added another finger. He twisted and scissored his fingers trying to open Harry up for his cock. A third finger made Harry arch up and try to fuck himself harder on the thick digits. Harry panted and moaned until he felt something larger press at his entrance.
“Yes! Fuck me, Riddick.” Harry keened loudly as Riddick sank into him. He went so slowly that Harry missed the usual burn of the stretch. Harry pushed back hard and lost his breath for a moment as he was filled totally by Riddick thick cock. Harry pushed his face into the mattress to stifle his noises. Riddick wrapped his hand in Harry’s long tresses and pulled his head off the mattress.
“Oh, no, I want to hear you scream for me.” Riddick pulled out suddenly and slammed back in and Harry thought he blacked out for a few moments, until Riddick did it again and he screamed. Harry was never so glad he automatically put up silencing wards. He panted and screamed while Riddick pounded into his ass and held him taut by the hair. Harry could do nothing but ride out the fierce thrusts.
An arm snaked under his abdomen and lifted him unto his knees. Riddick sat back on his hutches and placed Harry in his lap. He held Harry’s legs apart, feet flat on the cot, and thrust upwards into Harry’s sweet channel. Harry let his head fall back on Riddick’s shoulder, because he was too insouciant to keep his own head upright. Harry grabbed his cock and stroked it as Riddick played his prostate like a symphony. Harry came with a blinding pulse of magic that tipped Riddick over the edge. Harry watched through half lidded eyes as his magic swirled and writhed in a physical manifestation of his body’s pleasure. It slammed back in to him and caught Riddick as well. They both blacked out missing the drama of the Imam losing Ali in the coring room and the panic that ensued when they realized that they were on year twenty-two when a total eclipse was due and nothing would keep the photo-sensitive creatures underground any longer.
When Riddick and Harry rejoined the rest of the group they knew something was wrong. Riddick’s hone senses knew it lay with the Imam, but everyone was even edgier than previously. Harry moved away from Riddick to Fry and asked what was going on.
“What’s going on is that we don’t know how long we have before the sun goes out and those things come after us.” Fry sounded completely panicked as she looked at Harry’s relaxed form. “Where the hell were you? I would expect Riddick to disappear in times of need, but you seemed different.”
Harry eyed the woman like she had a boil for a mouth. “I am not sure whether you are aware of this madam, but I have been awake for more than a day after a bloody ship wreck. I need sleep as much as the next human. Do not think for a moment that you have some knowledge of me, because I have not done something negative. Now explain what you mean by the sun going out.” Harry scowled and gave her a Snape glare.
Fry visibly straightened and recounted the events of the hours while Harry and Riddick slept off their post-coital exhaustion. She pointed to the industrial building that was label as the Coring room. She explained about the creatures that got Ali and their sensitivity to light. She told him about the dating of the last core sample and the model that predicted the planetary movements in a twenty-two year cycle. The dark was coming and their one way off the planet was not operational yet.
Just as Fry finished her part rant, part explanation a soft darkness started to take over the sky. Harry uttered a rather obvious statement. “Looks like sunset is upon us. What’s needed to repair the ship,” and he strode towards the emergency shuttle.
Fry hop, ran after him as he moved towards the beat up pile of space vehicle. “The hull’s not fully repaired. If we take off with any hole in the hull we’ll implode in the vacuum of space. That’s if we make out the atmosphere. Then, we need to get at least five power cells from the ship to run it.” As she spoke she watched as Harry looked around the area and then make a gesture with his hand. She watched amazed and slightly scared as pieces of metal flew towards the damaged ship and started adhering to the wrecked hull. Soon the ship looked fit for flight at any moment, the only thing it needed was power.
“What the hell? You could have done that from the beginning?” She looked upset and stomped towards Harry getting up in his face. “Why didn’t you do that with the Hunter-Gratzner?”
“Because it was too damaged, but this wasn’t.” Harry shrugged his shoulders at Fry and turned to see Johns and the rest approaching in the slow dimming light.
“We’ll get the cat and go get the power cells. I think everyone should go just in case we don’t make it back before full dark.” Johns mainly looked to Riddick as he said this, but everyone agreed. No one wanted to be left alone when there were only two weapons between the eight people left. Harry didn’t much care as he was always armed and could fight. He looked towards Riddick and the man smirked somehow knowing what Harry was thinking.
Riddick had donned his goggles again although he still didn’t need them. He had let his eyes stay the way Harry change them. He didn’t want Johns to know, but there was a twinge of worry that darkness was coming and he could no longer see in the dark.
The trip to the wreckage was nerve wracking as the light slowly died in the sky. The cat was mere feet away when it stopped working due to lack of enough solar light. Several passengers breathing got heavier as they all realized they wouldn’t make it back before the planet was plunged into darkness.
“Everyone inside,” Fry called as they jumped out of the stalled vehicle. They scrambled into the main cabin of the wreckage where the power cells were moored right as the outside world went dark.
The loud and sudden screeches and clicks of unseen creatures roared to life into the silence inside the cabin. The people quickly scrambled to barricade the hole in the hull that constituted the only entry point. They heard the creatures walking on top of the hull and banging against the metal. The children screamed in fright, exciting the creatures outside the ship. Jack’s bravado deflated as the severity of their situation sunk in on the young child.
Harry made to reinforce the barricade with his magic, but as it pooled below his skin to be used the screeches of the outside creatures grew frenzied and frantic.
“Shit, bloody fucking figures,” he exclaimed into the panicked silence of the survivors. He turned to Riddick and the man nodded for them to move away from the main group to talk quietly.
“I saw your magic seeping through the hull. I think you might be a delicacy for them.” Riddick leered at Harry and brushed him hand against Harry’s cheek.
“What the hell are you doing Riddick?” Johns yelled at the criminal. “You don’t touch anyone, you hear me?” Johns pulled Harry away from Riddick forcefully and pushed him behind him.
“Excuse me, Johns, but I am quite capable of preventing unwanted touching.” Harry spoke trying to come away from the man blocking his path to Riddick.
“Answer me Riddick,” Johns commanded as he ignored Harry’s comment.
“Harry didn’t quite mind while me cock was deep in his ass, why he mind a little caress?” Riddick smirked at Johns. The dim lighting in the cabin made him look far more sinister than he usually did. Riddick looked like a predator.
“You’re not getting off this planet, convict.” Johns said as his rage took over his common sense. He pulled his gun, raising it to point at Riddick, but Riddick did the same thing as before when Johns had threatened him before. He took the gun from Johns’ hands and pointed it at the man. This time he pulled the trigger and Johns fell back from the bullet ripping through his chest.
“We better get moving or the smell of blood is going to get our friends outside even more riled.”
Fry came out of her stupor as Johns’ body hit the ground and the din outside increased with the banging on the hull. “Shit, whose going to help us fight those things off now. We need to get the cells back to the ship. They’re too heavy to carry, run, and fight.” Fry fell against the wall for support, but jumped when a dent appeared next to her head. They were breaking through. Now she knew why the hull of the shuttle was so damaged.
Harry contemplated their problem for a few moments. “We can make a makeshift sled and pull the cells back, but we’ll have to move fast.” Harry looked towards all the survivors and knew some of them wouldn’t make it the hour or so it would take to run back to the settlement. “We need as much light as possible to surround ourselves: flares, torches, luminescent tubing.”
Harry watched as everyone started to scramble to look for everything that could make light. Riddick approached him from behind wrapping an arm around his middle. “I’ll need you to change my eyes back to see in the dark.” His low rumble sent shivers up Harry’s back as he leaned into Riddick’s hard body.
“Just take the goggles off and you’ll be able to see out there.” Harry ground his ass against Riddick’s answering arousal. Riddick swooped down and bit Harry’s neck and soothed the slight ache with his tongue.
“You taste like light and freedom.”
Paris broke the two men out of their revelry of each other. “Are you two going to help or are you just going to dry hump while those monsters fucking rip through the ship to eat us?” Harry scowled at the antiquities dealer.
“Riddick and I are going to be fighting those monsters while you pull our only way of getting off this planet. I would suggest you think about that Mister Ogilvie.” Harry said as he pulled his a familiar sword from the ether and brandished it. He produced a short sword as well and a dagger. He handed the dagger to Riddick and liked the broad smile he received for his gift.
“I’ll need that back eventually, so don’t leave it in any monster.” Harry told the man.
“I could never leave something this beautiful behind.” He kept his eyes on Harry while he said it.
Harry took some practice swings with the Gryffindor sword. The thing had followed him across the universe and always came when needed. The short sword was something he found on a distant planet about two hundred years ago. It was perfectly balanced and never went dull, but it was magically neutral, so it would work well while he cast. Harry knew he couldn’t fight with his magic by the way those monsters reacted to its presence. He walked over to whisper to Riddick.
“When we go out there, I am going to send some decoy magic to lead them away. We’ll have to keep everyone between us, and protect Fry especially. If we get to the ship we still need someone to fly us out of here.” Harry watched Riddick’s grinned broadly.
“I can fly us out of here. You sure about them?” Riddick motioned to the others.
Harry looked as well, but sighed and nodded his head. “They deserve as much as anyone else to get off this desert rock. If they can’t handle the trip, then so be it, but otherwise we do what needs doing.” Harry leaned up and kissed Riddick softly. “We’re leaving this hellhole.”
Riddick pulled Harry back as he started to turn away. He kissed Harry thoroughly and deep. Harry was breathless by the time Riddick let go of him.
Harry saw the near breach before anyone else. He ran over, but not fast enough to save Shazza from the spear-like appendage that came through the hull. She sat shocked as the thing tried to pull back the bard, but Shazza’s body prevented it from retracting back outside. Harry knew the body wouldn’t prevent that for long. He plunged the Gryffindor sword through the wall right above where Shazza body shuddered from the repeated banging against the wall. A satisfying shriek sounded and green blood stained the sword blade. Harry flicked the blood from the sword.
“We need to move the hull isn’t going to last much longer.” He turned to see everyone with lights surrounding them either from luminescent tubing or flashlights. Paris had used some of his surviving alcohol to make some torches using metal rods and torn clothing. Jack picked up the welding gear that Shazza dropped upon her impalement. The power cells had been placed on a utility tarp. Fry, Ogilvie, Imam, and the oldest of Imam’s boy, Hassan grabbed a corner to heave it passed the hole in the hull. They nodded when they were ready to move.
Harry pushed the barricade aside with his magic. Then, he sent out a burst of bright light to clear the opening. The monsters screamed at the brightness, but just stayed clear of the rim of light.
“Move!” Harry called to the others. He cast several patronus and sent them in opposite direction from their heading. The creatures took the bait quickly. Harry watched the things follow the silvery stags made from pure magic. “Let’s go before they figure out those don’t have any flesh to devour.”
They rigged ropes to everyone not fighting the monsters and started to run. Harry took the rear of the caravan of survival and Riddick took point. Riddick ripped the goggles off as he moved out of the ship with the others and saw that his eyes saw perfectly in the pitch black of the night here. His grin was feral as he palmed the dagger and headed the group.
They moved quickly but not quick enough to escape from the second wave of creatures spotting them. The first animal to confront them charged until it hit the rim of them halo of light. It circled them as they moved searching for a weakness in the hurtful glow. They were meat and it was hungry. He saw it in the skinny male carrying a flickering light.
Paris noticed with dread as he ran that the torch he carried was failing. He tried to reach for another, but he would have to stop. He wasn’t made for this type of physical exertion. “I have to stop, my torch is going out.”
“Keep going or be eaten,” Riddick called from in front of him. Riddick took a swipe at a flying creature and caught its taloned foot.
Paris stopped anyway, trying to move fast, but no one else did. He was caught outside the light just long enough for the creature stalking them to snatch him up. The scream from Paris was high, strangled, and short. Other screams joined his, but they came from other animals as they smelled the blood of a kill and converged on the group.
They had no choice but to stop. Riddick quickly cut the rope mooring Paris to the tarp being pulled. The hoard of creatures heading their way made them bunch together using their combined light as a shield. Harry tried again to use decoys to draw them off. It worked for some, but others just shifted and watched the ball of light containing the meat.
“Smart, ugly buggers,” Harry said as he used his magic to change his eyes. He stepped out of the protection of the halo of light. “We are getting off this planet.”
Harry heard protests to his action but ignored it. No hand restrained him, with everyone to afraid to move. The solid line of gnashing animals awaiting the light to fail or them to scatter caused Harry to smirk. He had fought much worse than this before and he could provide distraction. “Riddick, get them moving. I’ll cut a way through.” Harry called over his shoulder. He looked to Riddick and saw the man look at him with heat in his eyes. The man was actually aroused at the fact they could die at any moment.
Harry slashed the head off the first creature that rushed him. He side stepped the next and plunged the short sword into its underbelly. Several of the creatures jumped upon the corpse of the dead brethren and started ripping pieces of flesh off. Harry grinned as an idea came to him. He charged the Gryffindor sword and sent it to the side of the group and killed a long line of the creatures. It created a hole for the group as more creatures went for the new fresh meat.
Harry followed as Riddick led the group back toward the settlement, covering the rear. He periodically sent more decoys to keep the dumber or inexperienced monsters off their trail, but the biggest of the animals stayed right on their tail.
They came to the small canyon they had to traverse before the straight shot to the settlement. The walls of the gorge seemed to close in on them and their mission. Hassan was suddenly snatched by a speared tail and dragged up the side of the canyon wall. The boy screamed for the Imam, but his voice was cut short too soon for anyone try to grab him back.
The group only consisted of Fry, Abu, Jack, Harry, and Riddick. Riddick grabbed a rope and tied it to himself to take of the slack from the other three. The light started failing halfway through the canyon. Abu spotted the glowing crevice just as the last torch flickered out.
“There is light there,” he pointed to the crack just wide enough for them to fit through. They squeezed quickly through with the creatures right on their heels. A set of teeth caught Harry’s calf and dragged him back out the mouth of the hole.
Harry growled as he twisted in the creatures grip and slashed at it with the short sword. It let go, but more had joined him. Harry could see the ten creatures clearly as they lunged and retreated as Harry defended himself. His leg healed slower than his crash injuries. He thought maybe the eclipse had something to do with it. He limped and jerked to keep the closer animals from his back.
Harry nearly jumped out his skin when Riddick’s arm circled around his waist. “You plan on having all the fun yourself?” His husky voice distracted Harry from the threating animals, but Riddick caught the lunging creature in the belly, as he moved Harry with him to the side.
“I was just waiting for you to join me, killer.” Harry panted as he caught his breath. Harry and Riddick went back to back. They cut down every creature that came at them. The more opportunistic animals drug off the dead corpses quickly and retreated. Harry started to tire and faltered causing one of the creatures to catch him with a claw across his belly. Harry knew it had nearly gutted him, but he kept Riddick.
“I smell bad blood, Harry.” Riddick spoke as he tracked the movements of a large hammer headed creature. He knew that smell. A ruptured bowel meant death. He wanted to turn to check Harry, but that wasn’t an option. He took comfort that Harry was still on his feet.
Harry held the contents of his stomach with one hand and defended with the other until it healed enough for him to resume a more active fight. His back to Riddick helped keep his confidence up. The man was a solid wall of fight. The man was vicious in his kills. Harry watched as he made more meat to be carried off by the hungry inhabitants of the planet.
“Bugger this, Riddick head down and get the others gathered were moving out this kill box.” Harry felt Riddick follow his directive and cast incendio in a wide halo around him. He took great satisfaction in the hurt screams of the alien creatures. Riddick came back towards him as he watch the wide berth the still living animals gave their group even without the light they needed to fend them off.
“We can’t see in the dark like Riddick and, apparently, you,” Fry yelled over the dying shrieks of preyed upon creatures. Harry had never felt the urge to slap a woman more than Fry at that moment.
A grunt from Riddick caught Harry’s attention like a shot. Riddick went to his knees as his dagger came out of the now dead creatures head. Harry went to him ignoring the slowly creeping creature gaining their confidence to charge the almost defenseless group again. Harry saw the wound that bled through the tank top Riddick wore. The ripped fabric showed the wound in the man’s side.
“Can you make it to the settlement without help?” Harry asked the man.
Riddick’s deep voice held a chuckle when he answered, “It’s just a scratch. Can’t let you have all the fun.”
“I can’t heal you until we get clear of the planet. It would paint a target on you.”
A shriek brought Harry’s attention back to the predators stalking them. He pulled the elder wand out the ether and brandished it. “Bugger this planet. It can burn for all I care.”
Harry cast fiend fyre and two large fiery snakes came into existence. Harry looked at the basilisk like creatures and commanded them. “Guard the back.” He turned to the other. “Lead the way.” He gave his fiery creations a fierce look as he exerted his control over them.
The snakes whipped around them and burned the creatures that had inched back into the game of hunting them. They burned far faster than the previous fire spell. The broke off the initial attack of the creatures and one snake moved forward towards the exit of the canyon and the other kept the creatures off their backs. Any flying creature was snapped up out the sky by the fiery serpents.
Harry helped Riddick to his feet and they set off following the trail of fire and burning flesh. Harry felt Riddick lean into him more than he should have been. Harry took a chance and sent a mild healing spell at the man and cast a lightening charm. They moved quickly and mad it to the settlement.
Harry pulled Riddick into the interior of the ship and strapped him in. Fry screamed for help in inserting the cells on the outside of the ship. The fire serpents kept the creatures at bay. Fry worked fast and called out instructions. A dark rumble of furious screams and shrieks rose up outside the fire serpents’ perimeter. Harry looked up into the sky and saw a great cloud of writhing black, blacker than the planet had been plunged into, coming towards them. The fiend fyre creations through themselves into the mass and tried to burn it, but the spell had met it match in these creatures and their hunger. It overwhelmed the magic and Harry felt the spell break under the weight of all that unnatural hunger.
“We need to get out of here Fry.” Harry yelled, but he turned in just enough time to see a creature skewer the pilot and make off with its meal. Harry sprinted into the ship. “Riddick get us out of here!” Harry concentrated all his magic to create a light shield to take off in. He remembered the condition of the ship when it was found. These creatures would tear it apart to get their meal.
Riddick slid into the pilot’s chair and started the flight procedures. Harry’s breaths were labored while he fought against the determination of this hoard of hungry fiends. By the time they broke the atmosphere Harry was too exhausted to stand. He collapsed into the Imam’s arms. They were safe, whole, and alive. Harry smiled at Riddick in the pilot’s chair before he lost consciousness.
