Title: A Pinky Promise

Summary: It all began with a pinky promise.

It all began with a pinky promise. If anyone were to ask Ginny how it all started she would just shrug her shoulders dismissively before she returned to whatever she was doing before then. But for her it started quite simply with a pinky promise.

Summer 1990

It was a hot summer but Ginny loved the heat. There was just something about the heat that felt reassuring to Ginny. She hated winter it reminded her of death. She lay comfortably on her bed reading. Her window was open and the breeze was wafting gently making her curtains dance. She enjoyed the silence. It was hard to come by when all of her brothers were home. This coming fall it would be only herself and Ron as the twins would be starting Hogwarts.

She could hear the boys playing Quidditch in the orchard just below her window. She smiled as she returned to her book, when she heard a knock at her door.

“Come in,” she answered.

“What are doing Ginevra?” asked her brother Percy. He was the only one besides her mother who called her that, or ever bothered to knock.

“Nothing Percy just reading. What are you doing? Where’s mum?” Ginny asked barely looking up from her book.

“I was just completing some summer work, and as for mother she went to the village for some groceries for dinner,” Percy informed her as he examined his sister’s bedroom.

“Oh, okay,” she said as she turned another page.

The silence when on for a few minutes before she realized that Percy was still in her room staring at her.

“Was there something else you wanted Percy?” Ginny raised her eyebrows.

Percy looked slightly embarrassed at being caught staring at her, “N-no, I just came by to see what you were doing?” he started to move towards the closed door.

“Okay,” she shrugged her shoulders.

Before Percy could get to the door he turned back to the young girl on the bed, “Actually Ginny I wondered if you would be willing to help me with a little problem I have?”

Ginny looked confused, “Of course Percy I’ll do whatever you want, but I don’t know how I can help.”

Percy shook his head, “I know you can you just have to keep it a secret okay?” Percy told her quietly.

“Is it bad?” Ginny questioned her brother a bit hesitantly.

“No it’s not bad, it’s just better if no one knows okay not mum, not dad, and not the boys? It’ll be our secret,” Percy explained to his sister trying to reassure her.

“Our secret?” Ginny whispered still not completely comfortable.

“Yeah, how about we pinky promise,” he held out his hand to sister. Ginny tentatively took his finger and made the same movement as her brother.

“Okay I pinky promise, I won’t tell anyone,” Ginny smiled.

“Good, now I want you to just lie back okay,” Percy instructed her.

Ginny lay back on her bed she moved to book she was reading to her bed side table. She wasn’t sure what Percy wanted help with so she would wait until he told her.

Percy nervously moved forward. He reached her bed. He saw how still and confused she was and because he was sure how much time he would have he knew he would have to move quickly.

He climbed onto the bed beside Ginny, who just looked at him with an unbelievably cute innocent puzzled look on her face. Then he climbed on top of her.

She was startled he knew. She hadn’t been expected that but he couldn’t wait anymore. He started to move on top of her grinding his lower half against her for friction.

Ginny didn’t understand what was happening. Percy had gotten on top of her and he was slowly moving. His face had a look of pain and happiness that she could not understand. Why was moving himself over her good and bad. He eventually started to move faster and faster until she felt him stop with a look of such happiness she didn’t think she had ever seen on her brother.

He eventually moved off of her and to the bed beside her. He grabbed her face and gave her a kiss on the forehead.

“Thanks Ginny, and remember, this is our secret,” he held out his finger again. And again Ginny returned the gesture.

But this was the moment that would start everything. Percy returned to her room several more times that summer and she never told anyone but it wouldn’t be until the coming year that things started becoming clear.
