Phoenix Reborn
The Weasley family has a big secret. They are no more pure-blood than many other pure families, but the taint on their line is one of the two rarest breeds. Creature Fic. Sequel to Chameleon's Song. M/F, M/M, Preg, Mpreg, ,
AN: there may be some overflow from the other sequels. Not all information will be in each story. This one does not center on Fred and George, so they are not going to be detailed, mostly it's about Ron, Percy and Bill. Charlie is out of country, so he's safe, at least from what's going on here. Ginny will be featured, but again not a main concern, yet.
Chapter One: Arthur and Molly
At the sound of the clock chiming midnight, Molly rose from her bed and scurried down the stairs. She was constantly concerned about the welfare of her children, and the clock was a blessing given to her by her Aunt Muriel when Charlie and his phoenician twin Lancelot were born. At midnight of every day, Molly would check to see if her children were safe, and this night was no exception.
The children were grown, now all but Ginny had graduated from Hogwarts and the war was finally over, but that hardly meant that they were safe. As she lit her wand and looked at the hands, there they were. Bill at Shell Cottage, with his bride Fleur. Ron and his wife Eloise safely in the house her family had provided in Hempstead Hills. Percy and Penelope living in their flat in London, near the Ministry offices. Fred and George in Aberdeenshire, where Harry Potter had bought a castle to house his nine mates.
Harry's inheritance being the rarest of creature blood, a Chameleonis, was a blessing and a curse to the two Weasleys, for his breed was the only one that guaranteed they would bear children assured of their own inherited race. The Phoenicia.
Molly had only born two sets of these creatures, and only because she and Arthur both had the blood running through their veins. They had managed with Fred and George, but their other set was not so lucky, for little Lancelot had accidentally been extinguished in his toddlerhood. The remaining member of that pair was her current concern.
Charlie's clock hand was not pointed at the Dragon Preserve in Romania, and because there was no setting for Mozambique, it was aiming at the designation for Unsure Future, and that was no comfort to his mother.
“Charlie, be careful.” she whispered before returning to her bed and her husband.
Had she known at the time that Charlie was the least of her worries, she might not have slept so well that night, or the two following. But, on the third night, a Monday, she was wide awake, with her husband beside her. Their tea had grown cold and neither bothered as they stared at the clock that pointed all five other sons toward Imminent Danger.
Eloise screamed as Ron pushed her toward her elf, her unborn baby weighing heavy in her body, and her wand out of reach, for now. “Go. I'll catch up. Go, Ellie! I need to know that you're safe.”
“Take me to Mother, Bette.” and the elf disappeared, taking her along. The other elf, Lonnie, pulled at Ron and dodged a shot by a rogue wizard that had broken from the others and was chasing the red head around the back of the house.
“Get the aurors. Go, Lonnie. I'll be fine, but we can't let them escape.” the elf was reluctant, but it was obedient and as it disappeared, the dark wizard got in a shot and Ron was knocked to the ground.
“Boris. I've got him. Come on, we need to go.” the other man, a burly dark haired man of about fifty, apparated to their side and the scooped up the youngest Weasley boy and disapparated away.
The rest scattered as a group of aurors dropped in with the help of the elf, who was searching wildly for his master.
At the same time, Fleur was running along with her husband, up the beach and away from their home. Shell Cottage was afire and burning so fast that it had to be fiendfyre that set it ablaze. They wore only their nightclothes and had their wands, but everything else they had in the house was lost to them, soon to be ashes on the beach.
As they ran, Fleur tripped and landed hard on her knees, twisting one ankle badly. Bill stopped and went to lift her, but before he got her into his arms, they were surrounded. In order to fight, he'd have to put her down, and the time it took would be too much for him to succeed in getting a good shot off.
“We should have stayed in Dorset.” he whispered and she nodded mutely.
Percy's capture was not so dramatic. He had left work, at the Ministry, only to be stopped at the floo and taken for questioning by unspeakables. He had not even managed to send a message to his wife that he was on his way.
The three Weasleys were put into cubicles in the department of mysteries while the unspeakables went to capture the remaining brothers. They were not harmed, other than Ron's recovery from the stunner and Bill's scorched arm where he had broken out of the burning house and dragged Fleur to safety. He would have healed it, but was not sure if that might be giving information that the unspeakables had not gotten yet. Fleur was held elsewhere, so they had no idea of her condition.
“As soon as we have your other brothers, we can begin.” one of the men who guarded them said in an ominous tone, his hand holding a strange scepter that emitted a bit of fire that was hotter than it looked.
