Prologue
Following James into the small parlor in the back of the house, Sirius was playing around with Harry, who was peering over his dad's shoulder at him, laughing. Though he wasn't used to kids, tending to avoid them, especially the really young ones, Harry was great. He adored him, that's all there was to it. Though just over a year old, the little boy was a riot to muck with and always seemed like he was laughing.
Chuckling at the two, shaking his head, James shut the door and put a privacy spell on it. “You're going to be a very bad influence on him, Sirius, I can tell that already.”“Of course I am,” Sirius told him with a winning grin, taking a seat across from the two when James sat down, putting the little boy on his lap and giving him his favorite stuffed dragon. “You knew that going in, so don't act like it's some kind of newly discovered information.”Sobering up, he asked, softly, “What's going on, James? You said there was something you needed to talk with me alone about. And where is Lily? Because doing anything behind her back will end up with both of us on the wrong end of her wand. I don't want to deal with that if I don't have to.”Snorting at that and grinning, James shook his head, “Neither do I, honestly. You can leave, I'm stuck with her and she'll get revenge.” Hearing Sirius laugh at that, James then sobered up and told him, “She knows what I want to talk to you about and I have her approval. We just both thought it best that I do this alone.”Face taking on a serious cast, Sirius asked, “What's going on?”Looking at Harry, who was playing contentedly with his dragon, he gave his son a squeeze then said, “We wanted you as his godfather for a reason as we know how much you'll protect him. There is now something else we need from you, Sirius, and it's huge. We picked you because we know what danger we're in. If the worst happens, we want you to take it on. On the other hand, if we come out fine, it's nothing you'll have to worry about.”Giving a determined nod, Sirius told him honestly, “Whatever you need, you know that.”“You need to hear me out before you agree, Sirius,” James sighed. Shaking his head, he added, “And what I'm going to show you needs to stay a secret. No one else can know, not even Remus or Peter, at least until later on.”“Of course,” Sirius told him. Brow furrowed, he asked, “What's going on, James? This is—odd. We always tell each other everything.” He couldn't think of what would be so huge that James wanted him to keep it to himself. Not sure where to launch in, James sighed and looked at his son. Rubbing a hand over Harry's head, he gave an internal groan when he felt the two protuberances that the glamour was hiding. Giving Harry a kiss on the head, something his son ignored in favor of playing with his favorite toy, he then said, starting with the history, “I'm sure you know that most Pureblood lines go way back. Some claim connections to the most famous of our kind. Merlin is the big one there. They aren't, though, despite what they might claim. There are only two lines that could trace that far back. One is gone and the other—well, it will be in another generation or so.”“Oh yes, it's mostly bull—,” he started then trailed off, looking at the little boy on his dad's lap. Grinning, he picked up, making sure not to use the word he had been going to, “Crap. We know that. What's that have to do with anything?”Sighing, James said, softly, “Slytherin was one of them, hence the Parselmouth trait. That line has died out, as we both know, at least from what everyone can tell. There are probably shirt-tale relatives, but they don't manifest the tell-tale traits.” Seeing Sirius nod, he added, quietly, “The other is Potter.”Eyes wide, Sirius asked, tone stunned, “Are you sure?”“I'm sure,” James told him with a sigh. Groaning, he rubbed his beloved son's head and told him, “Parselmouth isn't the only trait that comes from that line, Sirius. Though I'm now sure Harry is one. We haven't noticed, and probably won't until he learns to speak better, but I'm sure that's there. The reason I know is that the other latent trait is not dormant.”Before Sirius could ask, he pressed on, “More I'm sure that you already know is that our magic just didn't crop up out of the blue. Some came from a mutation of genes in Muggles. Others came from Muggles breeding with what we know of as magical creatures. The latter is the reason certain family lines are known for specific traits.” Seeing Sirius nod, James told him, “The Slytherin line is best known for the Parselmouth as that's the trait they got from their linage. It came from Merlin supposedly being born from his mother's coupling with an incubus. Most attribute Merlin to other creatures as even among our kind the incubus is known as very dark. They don't want our most famous of Wizards being linked to that kind of creature. It's the truth, though.”Stopping, James lifted his eyes from his happy, content son to look at Sirius then said, voice containing plenty of sadness, “The Potter line got the other side; the incubus traits. While the Parselmouth crops up, what we got was the looks of the incubus.”Now having a feeling where this was going, Sirius didn't know what to say, glancing at the little boy playing on his father's lap. Not sure what to say, he just lifted his eyes back to James and waited, not sure if he wanted to hear this.“Over the years, the Potter line did everything it could to dilute their blood, thus lessening the chance of the full showing of our heritage coming out in a child, by intermarrying with Muggleborns and Halfbloods. It did help as it diluted the gene pool. Sometimes, though, it didn't work and a child is born with the full traits that aren't easily hidden as just odd gifts that crop up in some lines.” Looking down at his son, he told him, voice quiet, “Harry is one of those. We're sure that it's a combination of my genes and Lily's magical power. Harry got the 'curse' though. So far we've hidden it with a glamour and will keep on doing that until his instincts start using what's there to hide it from those he knows aren't 'safe' to let in on the secret. That's already started and, probably within a month, he'll be doing it on his own.”“It doesn't matter,” Sirius said, shaking his head slowly. Voice more determined, he reiterated, “It doesn't, James. Screw anyone that can't handle it! They can take it up with me if they have anything to say.”“I figured that you'd say that,” James told him with a pleased smile. That was the Sirius he knew and adored!Watching James start to bounce the now giggling little boy on his knee, Sirius asked, “Can I see? It will change nothing, you know that.”Nodding, James tapped the little boy on the head with his wand, something that brought on more happy giggles, and the glamour came off. What it revealed was still Harry in looks and the color of his eyes, but there were the horn buds right at his hairline, claws on his fingers, a fleshy colored spade tipped tail that had the same black hair on the spade part as on Harry’s head.Smiling down at his son, who was now trying to fit his whole fist in his mouth, gumming it, James looked at Sirius and said, sighing, “His whole back is covered with black fur as well. He also has a forked tongue, something that will make it a bit harder for him to learn to speak, and he will probably grow fangs. As he matures, in times of high emotion, he'll probably show red eyes. They won't be there all the time, of course, but when he's—overly emotional in some way they will come out. We're not sure what else might come, though some are more magical, such as the Parselmouth. Each one is different when it manifests, though the looks are the same and some other traits will always be there.” Shaking his head, James sighed, “He's not a demon, like some proclaim, or the devil or evil, he's a little boy like any other that just has special gifts. Nothing more than that! It's just going to take a bit more for him to control some things.”“He's still adorable,” Sirius grinned, looking at the drooling little boy as he gummed his fist to death while he clung to the dragon. “Doesn't matter,” he said once more with a shake of his head. “He's still Harry.” Now, though, he was curious how this factored in as he was certain it was more than just James wanting him to see the 'true' Harry.“He is,” James said a tad smugly, looking down at his son, who peered up at him, still trying to fit his fist into his mouth. Shutting his eyes, he sighed then said, “It's more than this, Sirius.” This was hard, so hard, as he had to admit so much. Sirius was the one he needed, so he had to do it. It was just—facing it was rougher than anything else.“The incubus is a—sensual creature. That's their gift. They inspire lust, not only for their partner, but also in those around them. As his parents, we can control that as he grows and until he can do it on his own. Adolescence is the worst, of course, because of the hormones. For him, it'll be like getting an overdose of them. So, he needs someone to help until he's through that and can get a handle on his gifts. The issue comes in that Lily and I know what danger we're in. We've—well, you know. No one needs to tell us what might come. Even if only one of us is alive, we can manage to keep this under control until Harry can do it for himself. He's going to need that and protection, because some of both will manifest before he becomes a teenager. Because of what's going on, we want to prepare if the worst happens. That's where you come in.” James explained with a heavy sigh to his voice.“Though the magic associated with being his godfather is strong, it won't help with this. What we want to ask you to do is allow us to bind him to you in a way. That will both help to control it and protect him. Remus might be able to do better because of what he is. That's considered a dark creature as well. The power associated with being a werewolf could help. The downside there is that would give Harry two strikes against him that he doesn't need. You can manage. You're powerful enough that you could help him control it. That he needs, Sirius.” James told him, lifting his eyes from his son and looking at his closest friend.Though Sirius looked like he was about to say something, probably to agree, knowing him, James talked over him, “You need to understand what this means, Sirius. Harry would be yours, completely. It would be like a binding between two people. He would get his normal life up to a point. The one we want to use would allow him to date, have sex with others and all the normal bits up until the full powers are there after adolescence.”Softly, he then added, “With you being gay, this could easily work. It's uncomfortable to think about, this I know, and more to ask than I should of anyone, but it's all we have to protect him if the worst comes to pass. And we don't like it, I want that out there. For either of you. It takes away Harry's choice of who he wants to stay with forever. It then binds you to a child that you've known since he was born. We just have nothing else, Sirius. All we want to do is to make sure he's safe as we can get him. If nothing happens and we make it through this, the bond won't activate.”Stopping, he looked at his best friend, the man he considered to be his brother, and added, “There is no one I would trust more with the most precious thing in my life than you. Plenty would use him for various things because of what he'll be able to do. The gifts, aside from the sexual ones, that come with this are a power many would crave then exploit. You wouldn't. You would love him. That's all we want and it would make him happy.” That's where he stopped and waited.Eyes drifting to the little boy who had given up on his now slobbery fist and was clutching the dragon with both hands, chewing on its head, Sirius thought that over. It was a big choice, one he knew had plenty of consequences if James and Lily were to die. There were uncomfortable parts as well, ones he wasn't sure if he could handle if that came to pass. However, as he looked at the child that was staring at him as he chewed on the dragon's head, claw tipped fingers digging into the fake fur on it, he smiled. Then he nodded. “When are we doing this? I want it to happen fast, just in case. And give me all the information I need. It might never be used, but I want it so if I do need it, it's there.”“Are you sure?” James asked, smiling a little as he started to bounce his son slightly again. He figured Sirius would and that was a relief, despite the guilt over what he asked of him.“I'm sure,” Sirius told him, voice determined. Leaning back, he crossed his arms over his chest and added, “My responsibility if you can't do it. That's all there is to it.”“I have everything you need,” James told him, smiling bigger. “When Lily comes back we'll do the binding. Then explain everything we know so far.” This made him happy. Harry was now protected by the one person that would always love him, no matter what. Though he was taking away his son's choice of partners, he knew Harry would be happy with Sirius.Pressing on, changing topics, he said, “Albus is talking about a Fidelius for the house. If he does bring us the spell to do it, I want you as the Secret Keeper. No one would get it out of you.” He would wait for Lily to get back to go into the more uncomfortable parts of the other area, but there were plenty of other bits he wanted to cover.“I'll do it, no problem,” Sirius told him with a nod. Thinking it over, he said, tone distracted, “You might want to talk Peter into it, though. I would be the obvious one, of course, when it gets out, so I'd be a target. Hell, we can make it sound like it's me. Not to worry there as I can take care of myself. Having Peter take it on would be better as no one would think of him. That way if something happens to me, you don't have to scramble.”“That might be the way to go,” James nodded, pleased with the idea. “The more we can confuse, the better off we'll be. Good suggestion!” Then he began talking about other matters they all needed to know.

Lying curled up under his bunk in Azkaban as Padfoot, Sirius had his eyes shut. This was easier on him, as he had learned, but it was still miserable. Not only was there the obvious part of him being innocent and the Dementors, the bond that James had performed with Harry was pulling as well, making it worse. The only upside there, if there was one, was that the Dementors weren't focusing on him because he was fucking miserable. There weren't many happy thoughts for them to feed off of because of so much.
Letting out a blurry dog sigh, he shifted slightly into a more comfortable position. With that, he tried not to focus on what that bond was feeding him. Harry was miserable. Completely miserable and hurting. From what he could tell from the bond, it was both a mental and a physical pain. That was making all of this far worse. Especially since he could tell the physical pain was self inflicted. That—he almost couldn't bear that. He wasn't sure what his godson had done to himself, but it was there. As he lay there, he tried to focus on a way to get himself out of this hellhole, but nothing was coming to mind. Azkaban was the one place in the world no one could escape from. Yeah, well, he was going to. All there was to that bit. He just didn't know how to manage it yet. As he had all the time in the world, he was going to figure out how, though. That he swore.Cracking his eyes open at sounds outside his cell, he waited to see what it was. Then the meal flap at the bottom of the door slammed open and his food was shoved through. Feeding time at the zoo. Ignoring the disgusting grub and tuning out the noises of the other prisoners, he shut his eyes again. He would eat, of course, as he didn't want his mental and physical state to affect Harry more than he was sure it already was, but not right now. At the moment, he couldn't focus on anything but the pain he was getting from Harry. If he calculated this right, Harry was ten, probably just shy of turning eleven. That meant he would be going to Hogwarts soon. While he hoped that Albus would be able to help, he wasn't sure what his godson's life was like right now. If he was hurting like this, it was doubtful he was with Remus. It was doubtful the Ministry would have allowed Remus to take Harry, which meant he had no idea where his godson was. That didn't help anything. Remus would have been able to help, tremendously. So, he was sure that's not where Harry was.Focusing on that bond, he tried to send through plenty that would help Harry, but didn't think he could manage. With the situation he was in, 'good feelings' were hard to come by. He would try though, desperately, until he could find a way out of this nightmare.
Sitting on the small bed, Harry had his hands between his legs, thighs squeezed tightly around them as he fought back tears of pain. He had once more had to use those clipper things he found to trim his claws. Doing that hurt like you were chopping off parts of your body. It was as though they were an extension of his fingers and it was painful to trim them. He had to, though, as they were causing issues again. Since no one but him ever saw what he really looked like because of his ability to hide it, they didn't know, thankfully. That would have made him just more of a freak to his family and those around here, something he didn't want.
He learned over the years that his claws caused problems because they ended up scratching people or snagging on things because no one else could see them. Then there were suspicious glances and mutterings. He even got in trouble a few times over that, resulting in Uncle Vernon getting mad and then a long stint in the cupboard. So, he learned to trim them, despite how much pain it caused him to do that.Looking up at the 'ceiling' of the cupboard, he focused on the spider webs there to distract himself from the pain he was feeling. It didn't work fully, of course, but it helped. Eyes tracing the delicate webs, he could feel that—tug again. He wasn't sure exactly what it was, as it had always been there, at least that he could remember, but he knew it was a connection of some sort. Most of the time he felt a mental pain or depression through it. That didn't always help what he was dealing with, but there was no way to stop it. It was odd this time, though, as what was coming through was soothing, something he knew was meant to help him deal with his pain. That made him smile in a sad way. Nothing could do that, but it helped, at least some.Shutting his eyes again, he tried to move the focus away from his hurting fingers, something he knew would dull in a few hours to a level he could deal with. He, instead, focused on that connection. It felt familiar in some way, but he couldn't place how. So, he would let it do what it could. That would only help. It soothed somewhat, despite how bad some of what came through it was. For that, he was thankful as he dealt with so much anymore. His horns were growing and that didn't feel good either, giving him a dull headache that he really couldn't take anything for. He had tried a few times, but Aunt Petunia and Uncle Vernon had noticed some of the pills missing then gave him those 'looks' that made him so uncomfortable. He didn't want to explain the problem, as they thought him enough of a freak anyway, so he didn't take anything. The other option was buying something for it, but he never had any money, so that was out.Despite not wanting to, he glanced at the small mirror that hung on one of the studs in the cupboard. What he saw made him sad. The horns, the fangs, the forked tongue, all of it, showed him that his family was right. He was a freak. A deformed one. He hated that. All he longed for was to be normal. As his birthday was only a couple days off, he would wish once again to be normal. That wouldn't happen, but it was always his wish. If that couldn't happen, he would also wish that his real secrets stay hidden from everyone. It was bad enough that people noticed when those odd things happened or some gave him looks that made his skin crawl, so he didn't want everyone to see what was really there. That was what he wished for most fervently. Thankfully, it was the one that always came true. If that's all he got again this year, he would be happy and move on.Sighing when his Uncle bellowed for him, he stood on shaky legs. All he hoped was this wasn't something big that he had to use his hands for. They still hurt so badly that he was sure to mess it up then get in even more trouble. Though, maybe, that wasn't a bad idea as he would be confined to the cupboard for a while. If that happened, he could then get a handle on the pain and things would go back to 'normal'. Maybe that was something he should do as the pain was still too hot and throbbing for him to do anything.

Harry loved Hogwarts, that's all there was to it. It was home, the only one he truly knew. The Dursleys—that house wasn't home. Though it was only a short time into his first year here, he loved it so far, despite the problems he had with some like Draco Malfoy and Snape. He had friends that didn't think of him as a freak and that he was normal, for what their world saw. Well, what he showed was.
As much as Harry loved Hogwarts, and learning that he was a Wizard, he feared people discovering his true secret. While he was normal when it came to being a Wizard, he didn't see anyone else having the horns or other bits he did, so he kept his—whatever it was up so those weren't revealed. What he feared now was them being revealed and him being sent away from a place he adored, the friends he made turning their backs on him and him being shunned by everyone again. He didn't think he could handle that now, knowing what it was like to be cared about. He went through his days making sure to keep what was there hidden. It wasn't easy at times, as he just wanted to be himself more, showing his friends what he really was, but didn't. He couldn’t handle the rejection. Instead, he threw himself into school, doing what was there, Quidditch, the 'adventures' he, Ron and Hermione had, all of that. At times he still got those creepy looks, the ones that made his skin crawl and gave him the 'bad feelings' he had heard talked about in lectures at Muggle schools about abuse. Those came from older students, mostly, so he tended to avoid them, skirting away when he saw them coming in his direction and hurrying off, making sure not to be left alone. That was going fine so far, so he would deal with it that way. If it progressed—he wasn't sure what he would do, but he'd manage. The only odd bit, aside from hiding his true self, was his scar. That was hurting a lot. He wasn't sure why, but it was. Especially in Defense. At first he thought it was Snape, but he didn't get the aching in it from being in his class like he did in Defense. Ron and Hermione, after the first Quidditch match, were convinced it was Snape, but he wasn't anymore. He wasn't sure what was going on, but it wasn't Snape causing it. That he kept to himself, though. As time went on, he would see what he could do to figure out what was on that end. For now, they would press on.Sometimes late at night, he would sit on the windowsill in their dorm and look out over the grounds. That was soothing to him. It made him feel—well, he didn't always know, but it was a good thing. He would sit there, staring at Hagrid's hut and smile. That was his focal point most times, something that helped. It was—he didn't know what it was about Hagrid, but he felt so comfortable with him. While he knew that plenty made fun of the man, especially Malfoy and his goons, he adored him. Whenever he was around Hagrid, he felt good. If there was one person he wanted to let in on his secret and was sure he would accept him, it was Hagrid. That he wanted, more than anything, so he didn't feel so alone and like he was still a freak. He didn't, though. Hagrid was too close to Professor Dumbledore for him to do that. He didn't want it getting back as he was afraid of getting kicked out. However, he spent as much time with Hagrid as he could because it helped so much.
Curled up under his blanket in his bed, slightly cold as winter started approaching, even as Padfoot, Sirius was feeling better. No, this wasn't perfect, but he was doing better than he had in years. The reason was Harry was happy. He could feel that. As it wasn't his emotion, the Dementors couldn't steal it or use it to get to him more. That gave him hope and cleared his mind. He was staying as Padfoot almost all the time now for that reason. As he almost fed off that himself, it cleared his mind so he could think and plan. He had nothing so far to get out of this, but he was now coming up with bits that might form into that. With that came the hope. Maybe there was a way out, he just had to find it. The happier Harry was, the clearer his mind became, that he needed to pull this off.
While Harry was happy, he could also feel so much else, like the doubts and fear. Though it wasn't a physical fear, like he was in danger, though there was some mild forms of that, this was an internal one. He didn't need to guess too much to get why his poor godson felt that way. It appeared that no one had picked up on what Harry was to help him. Not even Albus. He was sure the fear was about being discovered. That had to mean Harry was powerful, very powerful, to keep his protection up enough that even Albus couldn't pick up on it. While that was good in many ways, it was detrimental in others, like Harry learning it was fine and no one but the bigots would reject him.He did what he could, sending all he could manage through that bond, hoping it helped, though he wasn't sure if it was enough. At least Harry wouldn't feel alone and abandoned, living in fear of being discovered for what he was. That's all he could do, but he was sure some of it was lost along the way. Hell, he was sure that Harry didn't know about the bond by now. As he hadn't grown up among their kind, from what he could tell from the emotions he got through the bond, he doubted his poor godson knew that he would always be there with him. So, he did what he could, though he was sure Harry didn't know where it was coming from. That alone increased what he felt was the need to get out of this mess and go to Harry. If he got out, he had proof he didn't do what he was accused of, something that no one gave him the chance to provide before. Albus was his hope there.Albus hadn't been on the Wizengamot at that point, so had no more pull than the average person, other than powerful friends. If he had gotten a trial, he might have been able to prove this and get Albus to help him. That hadn't happened, so he was stuck, unable to get the help he needed with the documentation he had. If he could get out, he had that and could prove he couldn't have done anything to hurt or betray Harry. Albus could help. That's where he focused. He would find a way, that's all there was to it.

Hearing the revolving staircase start up, Albus looked above the door to see the name of who was coming. It was late, very late, so it wouldn't be the normal. Seeing the name Padfoot, he leaned back in his chair and waited for the dog to come in. Now he was very curious. Sirius had left two days ago when the whole thing came to a head, supposedly getting out of the country where he would be safe until they could do something to get him cleared. Why he was risking getting caught again was beyond him. That meant it was probably something important.
Opening the door with his wand when the dog scratched on it, he watched Sirius pad in. “You should have left the country and gone somewhere where you'll be safe,” he chided mildly, shaking his head. Seeing the dog look at him, he assured, “You're safe here and no one will say a word.”Transforming back, Sirius stood there and looked at Albus. He was feeling much better, having had a few good meals, a shower and getting proper clothes. Looking at the Headmaster, he said, softly, “There is something I need to talk to you about, Albus, and it's huge.” Glancing around at the paintings that were paying close attention, though they were acting like they were asleep, he sighed, “Alone, please.”It was the tail end of Harry's third year and he had finally managed to escape. Then he revealed who Peter was. For the first time, he saw his godson and that bond clicked. In his mind, it was time to tend to this and do something. Harry was doing as well as could be expected, but he had issues. Adolescence was starting and that meant trouble was coming if he couldn't be around him to control it. So, it was time to do something big. And that meant getting Albus involved.Highly curious, Albus looked at him then nodded. Standing with a tired groan, he motioned Sirius to follow. Once they were in the small chamber off his office, one that had no paintings in it, he warded the door against being interrupted or overheard then conjured two of his squishy chintz chairs. Taking a seat, waiting for Sirius to do the same, he asked, “Why would you chance being here, Sirius? We put plenty at risk to get you out.”“I wouldn't have if it wasn't important,” Sirius told him honestly, taking some documents out of his pocket. Handing them over, he said, softly, “It's about that. We need to handle it now, Albus. Before Harry grows worse.” Quietly, keeping a soft tone, he added, “And it's time he stopped suffering, worrying about his secret coming out.”Taking the parchments with a furrowed brow, Albus began reading, his eyes widening as he did. Oh, Merlin!
Riding the stairway up to the Headmaster's office, Harry was confused about what was going on. It was right after breakfast and he wasn't sure what Dumbledore wanted him for. With that, there was some worry, hoping that what he would hear wasn't that there was a problem with Sirius. He hadn't heard anything, of course, like in the paper, but it was a concern. That connection—he figured out it was to his godfather when they had those brief times together. It wasn't telling him anything bad either. In fact, he was getting good things from it. So, he was wondering about this summons.
Stepping into the open door, he saw the professor there. Quietly, he asked, “You wanted to see me, Professor?”Standing with a groan, looking at Fawkes, who was singing again, just like he always did when Harry was around, he now understood why his phoenix said what he did when Harry was in his office. That made him feel a tad sad as he had missed this whole secret of Harry’s when he shouldn't have. Putting a smile on his face, he beckoned Harry to follow, leading him into the room Sirius had spent hours talking with him in the night before. “Follow me, if you would, Harry. Nothing to worry about,” he soothed, expecting some apprehension over this.Trailing along behind, Harry wasn't sure what to make of this or what it may be about, so he wanted answers. Stepping in, he saw the chairs waiting then watched as the Headmaster shut and warded the door. Glancing around, he saw it was a dark place with no paintings on the wall, but it wasn't the frightening kind of dark. When the Professor motioned for him to take a seat, he did then waited for the old man to do the same before asking, “Sirius is all right, isn't he?” That's the only reason he could think of for the privacy involved in this.“He's well,” Albus soothed, pouring them both some tea from a tray that appeared there. After handing Harry's cup to him, he picked up his and stirred in the sugar. Smiling, he added, “I just talked to him last night, so all is fine, Harry.”Happy with that, and relived, though he had been sure Sirius was fine, he asked, sipping his tea, “What did you need to see me for?” That he was highly curious about.Putting down his cup after taking another sip, Albus leaned forward and looked at the young man there, a slightly sad look on his face. Quietly, he asked, “Harry, I would like you to show me what you're hiding from the world. Drop the glamour you've learned so I can see.”And that's when Harry panicked. Trying to breathe, he stared at the Professor, not sure what to do. Was he in trouble for not revealing what he was? Would he be kicked out? His wand snapped? He didn't know as there was no one else in the school that had the same—stuff he did. Stammering, he wasn't sure what to say or do.Reaching out and putting a hand over Harry's, after taking the teacup away, Albus gave it a soft squeeze. “Shh, just calm down. What I see won't go any further than this room, Harry. You have my word. You're not in trouble and are in no danger of anything. I promise you that. All I want to do is see. Once I do, I think I can help you with several areas, including getting Sirius cleared.” He could understand why this was, of course, and the reason behind Harry's panic, something that saddened him. In his years as Headmaster, and teaching before that, he had known students that manifested their ancestry, something still stigmatized so much. Each one had acted the same way Harry was when it came out, sure they would be exiled to the Muggle world where they would end up treated horrifically, probably winding up in one of their circus side shows for the freaks.Heart still hammering so hard he was sure it would explode, Harry focused on the part about Sirius. That drew him and allowed him to focus. “It can help clear Sirius?” He asked, voice uneven and stammery from the panic that was still there.Scooting his chair closer, Albus assured him, “It can. I just need to see, nothing more. It'll confirm something that I read last night. You have my word that I won't reveal anything to your friends or anyone else. That will be your choice if you ever do.”Taking a deep breath, Harry nodded. Shutting his eyes, hoping that Dumbledore kept his word and it would be fine, he let his shield drop and revealed what he had hidden from the world for all these years. Though opening his eyes, he looked down, gripping the arms of the chair with trembling hands.A sad look on his face, not because what he was seeing horrified him, but that Harry was so frightened to reveal it, Albus took it all in, eyes drifting from the horns that curled around, down to the tail that was draped over Harry's thigh. Reaching out with a hand that trembled, he lifted one of Harry's and looked at the blunt claws that had obviously been trimmed in the normal way. With a sigh, hearing Fawkes' song, something that was melancholy, the words 'sad, lonely boy' being sung over and over, he now got what the bird had been trying to tell him for so long. Harry had suffered in silence to hide what he was and longed for the person that he was bonded to, though he probably didn't know that was there. It made him feel sad and lonely, missing something that was a part of him, hurting him while he dealt with something he didn't understand on his own.Trembling finger running over the blunted claws that were growing longer and to a point, he said, unable to keep the sadness out of his voice, “You've learned to mutilate yourself.”Looking up when the Professor said that, Harry wasn't sure what he meant until he looked at him fingering his claws. “I had to learn to trim them because they cause problems.”“Oh, Harry,” Albus said with a sad sigh, shaking his head. “I'll teach you a painless way to trim them. There is no reason for you to torture yourself.” Taking Harry's other hand, he walked him through the magic associated with the incubus to trim the claws painlessly. With that, he felt his eyes burn over the pain the poor boy seated there must have endured over the years trimming the claws, all because those that showed their inheritance were so stigmatized.Pleased with what he just learned, he was grinning slightly as the claws were now all trimmed by him thinking a spell and running his fingers over them. Feeling the Professor's hand tremble over his and seeing his eyes glistening wetly when he looked up, Harry was confused. He didn't understand that. “What's wrong?” He asked.“You won't have to cause yourself pain anymore,” Albus assured him. “This will do it, even out of school and not trigger you getting cited.” Shaking his head sadly, he told him, “I'm saddened that you had to endure this for so long and hurt yourself.”Though he understood that, Harry wasn't sure what to say. Reaching up, he fingered his curled goat-like horns then asked, “Can we trim these? Like I do the claws?” Those he wanted to get rid of if he could manage.“Oh no,” Albus told him. “Those—they can be trimmed but it takes a surgical procedure to do it. And it's more painful than you can imagine. It's best they stay,” Albus told him, still saddened by all poor Harry must have endured over the years. Reaching out with a hand that still trembled slightly, he ran a finger down the scar on Harry's forehead and said, softly, “I think I now understand so much I didn't before. And it changes everything.”“How?” Harry asked, unsure of that. He knew what he had been told about his scar, of course, but wasn't sure how what he had related to what went on with him.“You are an incubus, or at least mostly. I'm sure you're not fully because you retain so much of the human's looks. In that, you would be a Parselmouth naturally, not because of what I explained last year. It wasn't transferred to you that awful night long ago. It's your normal gift.” Albus sighed, rethinking every conclusion he had come to since then.Brow furrowed, Harry took that in then nodded, not sure what to say, really.Pressing on, Albus sighed, “And the visions—they—well, they aren't from what I thought. I thought that Voldemort had left a piece of himself in your scar that night. It's not what happened. He couldn't have. Your natural defenses wouldn't have allowed it. The visions come from the scar, yes, but because your natural ability is using it to protect you from the one that marked you with intent to do harm. The pain comes from that.” Smiling just a tad, he added, “That means you listen to your warning when it hurts, Harry. That will keep you safe. The visions are your defense mechanism’s way of protecting you or giving you something you need to know.” Leaning back, he said, “You have protections I never knew about, which is good. All that means is we have to hone them.”Summoning a book from the drawer in his office, he took it then changed the cover to something mundane, a text on defense. Passing it to Harry, he said, “Read that. The cover will hide what it is, but it'll explain what you are and help you understand your gifts. You have nothing to be ashamed of, Harry. That you have my word on. If you chose to reveal it to your friends, there should be no repercussions. Ron would understand because of his lineage. Hermione—she would too, I think. You have nothing to be ashamed of. I've seen many students come through here in my time that have dealt with similar inheritances. It's just a heritage showing, nothing more.”Flipping through the book, Harry looked up, brow furrowed. Shaking his head, he sighed, “No. I want it to stay a secret.” Putting the book down, planning to read it later, he asked, softly, “How can all this help Sirius?” That he didn't understand. He wanted to, though, as he wanted his godfather cleared.Smiling, Albus produced copies of the documents Sirius had given him the night before. Passing them over, he then began explaining what his father and mother had done so long ago.Listening in, eyes wide, Harry just looked at Dumbledore when he finished. He wasn't sure what it all meant when it came to clearing his godfather, but pieces were starting to slip into place about so much over the years, like that odd bit that soothed him from time to time.As he finished, Albus told him, softly, “I have the documentation on this, as you can see. That would prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that Sirius couldn't have done anything to harm you. Betraying your parents to Voldemort would have been considered that. There is no way he could have done that. That's all the proof I need. What I'm going to do is go talk to someone in the Ministry to see about getting him cleared. They know what this means too, Harry. Just give me time.”Putting a hand in his pocket, he fished out something that looked like a small, fuzzy cloth. Rubbing his thumb over the tag on it, the cloth then grew into a full sized black blanket. Holding it out for Harry, he said, gently. “Take that. Keep it on you at all times.” Seeing a confused look from Harry, he told him, softly, “It’s from your bond mate; Sirius. He wove part of his magic into it. It will give you comfort and reassurance when you need it while you're apart. Just rub the tag and it'll shrink down to something you can keep in your pocket. It can help you, Harry, you have my word.”Taking the blanket, not understanding what Dumbledore meant by that, he pulled it close then felt it. Smiling, he wrapped it around him and shut his eyes. The soothing feeling from that—whatever it was felt like it surrounded him, though far stronger than it ever had been. It seemed to calm him down in a way nothing else ever had. Then there was the smell—it was Sirius. Though it wasn't as strong as it had been standing next to him, it was strong enough. Between the two, he felt happy, content and so protected. Rubbing a trembling hand over the blanket, he gave a contented sigh. It felt amazing.Smiling at what he saw, Albus gave a short nod. Sirius' idea worked perfectly. It would give Harry something to help him. “Keep it with you, Harry, and use it when you need to. Until you can be with him, this will work.”“I will. Thank you, Professor,” Harry said softly, not wanting to unwrap it from around himself.“Now, you only have a little under a week before you go home. Enjoy yourself and let me see what I can manage on the topic of Sirius.” He planned to start on that today and hoped to have it done before school let out, but didn't want to get Harry's hopes up. Reaching out, he gave Harry's leg a pat then said, “Why don't you go enjoy the day. Let me see what I can do. No matter what, though, you remember you have nothing to be ashamed of. At all. This is just part of who you are.”Opening his eyes, Harry looked at Dumbledore and nodded. Though he understood what he said, it wasn't that easy. He would try though.

“What do you need, Albus? You said it was of the utmost importance,” Amelia Bones asked as the aging Headmaster took a seat with a soft groan. “And isn't school still in session?”
“You'll understand shortly,” Albus told her as he settled in. “Minerva is overseeing the castle long enough for me to tend to this task as it's something I wouldn't trust to anyone else because of the sensitive nature of the information I'm carrying.” Crossing his legs and leaning back after popping a lemon sherbert in his mouth, he said, “I do need to ask that the strictest privacy spells be put in place and that your normal discretion is involved.”Now more curious, Amelia nodded then activated the strongest privacy wards she had at her disposal. When they slid into place, flashing to let her know they were up, she asked, leaning forward, both hands clasped on her desk, “What's going on, Albus?”“This is about the Sirius Black case,” he told her honestly, pulling out the sheaf of parchments Sirius had handed over the night before. Shuffling them around, he sighed and shook his head, “A grave injustice has been done, Amelia, one we need to correct as fast as we can manage, for more reasons than just the obvious ones.”Taking that in, eyes widening, Amelia asked, tone hushed, “Are you saying he's innocent?” That's where it sounded like he was leaning, but she wanted to be sure before she began questioning him about this. The Black case was currently the biggest thorn in her side, especially after his escape right from under their noses.“I'm more than saying that, I have proof,” Albus told her with a sigh and sad shake of his head. “Rather than explain, let me show you the evidence I have. As these are personal family documents, you know that I can't use them for nefarious purposes or to twist the truth.”Slipping her monocle in her eye, she held out her hand with a nod, waiting to see what he had. Though Albus was—odd, he wouldn't pull something foolish without proof, especially coming to her with it. So, she would at least listen to what he had to say and take a gander at the proof before pressing on.Passing over the parchments, Albus leaned back and waited, twiddling his thumbs.Midway through the first page, Amelia had gone pale, muttering, “Sweet Merlin, no,” while shaking her head. Hands trembling, she quickly read the rest of what was there. When she was done, though she would do a more thorough read when she finished here, and she knew whatever else she might have missed was moot, she sat them down with trembling hands. Monocle dropping out of her eye, she reached up and rubbed both with a hand that still shook slightly. “Merlin's magically messed up machinations,” she said to no one in particular.“Indeed,” Albus agreed softly, nodding. Straightening up, looking intent, he pressed on, “I don't believe I need to explain to you that what's contained in those papers prove Sirius Black couldn't have betrayed James and Lily Potter, Amelia. That leads us to the inevitable conclusion that he has spent these last many years imprisoned for a crime he didn't commit.” Before she could say anything, he pressed forward, “And in doing so, the Ministry has also sentenced a child to the same torture. Harry Potter suffers right along with his godfather because of that bond that was put in place to protect him. James Potter would never have asked Sirius Black to take on such a responsibility if he had a single moment of doubt about the faith and loyalty of his friend. He also knew that there was no chance Sirius could ever harm poor Harry. That bond ensured he couldn't.”Elbows on her desk, hands covering her mouth, face as white as the newly fallen snow, Amelia looked at him, not sure what to do or say.Tone slightly firmer, Albus said, “We need him cleared soonest, Amelia. I'll use all my power as the head of the Wizengamot to help you push this. It's time two innocent people stop suffering because of a mistake made in zealousness all those years ago.” Lowering his voice, he added, “Poor Harry had to learn to mutilate himself years ago because of his issues. I don't think I need to tell you the pain involved for an incubus to trim their claws the non-Magical way. He had and has for years. That's but one thing he's had to learn to do because he had no foundation in what he was or how to tend to such matters. He's hid what he is for fear of the reaction as he had no idea how to handle it. It needs to stop, now, Amelia. I've helped all I can since I found out, but my information is limited.”After staring at Albus for a full minute, processing what was said with a shudder at the pain both people must have endured over this, she then said, “Yes, it's time.” Straightening up, starting to dig through her desk, she reiterated, “Yes, it needs to stop, now. I need your help, Albus. Many won't budge on this, despite the evidence, which means we need to go about this in a way where their denial won't matter.” Dragging form after form out of her desk, she told him, “We need Rufus. He won't like this and will rage, but we need his backing.”Smiling a little, Albus nodded, “I'll do all I can, Amelia, rest assured.” Good. This was going the right way. Amelia on the case was just what they needed.
Letting himself into Grimmauld Place, Albus let out a soft sigh. As expected, it was plenty filthy, but he could hear Sirius working away. Following the noises, he found the man in the kitchen toiling away at cleaning.
Scourgifying one of the benches by the table, he took a seat with a soft groan. Then he took a cup of tea Sirius sent him. Adding the usual overabundance of sugar to it, he waited until Sirius seated himself, then said, “You can expect your complete and full pardon in under a week, Sirius. I went straight to Madam Bones herself and presented the papers. With all she tends to, she knew exactly what those were and what they meant. She then pulled Rufus in. He was less than happy about this, but, after a slight—what could only be termed a temper tantrum, he saw it our way.”“Good,” Sirius grinned with a nod. Sobering up, he added, softly, “I don't see Fudge playing along, Albus. It's going to make him look plenty bad.”“He doesn't have to,” Albus chortled. “In fact, because of the way we're doing this, he won't know until after it's done. We're going through the Wizengamot to get the pardon, not Cornelius. It'll happen, Sirius, trust me. We're hoping to push it as fast as we can and get it done before the term lets out.”Pleased with that, Sirius nodded, smiling. “Good.” Sobering up, he said, “Harry comes here when school is out, Albus. Not back to that—place. He's suffered enough.”“Agreed,” Albus said with a soft sigh and nod. “I'll have some people go over and take on warding to keep his family safe. His home is with you, though.” Gently, he said, “I've given him a book on his gifts, but you need to work more with him, Sirius.” Shaking his head sadly, he told him, “He's already mutilating his claws. So, he needs to understand what to do with plenty.”“I've felt what he's been through, Albus,” Sirius told him, looking in his direction. “I'll take it on, don't worry. One of the first things I did was go hunting in the library for what I could find on the incubus. All I managed to find were a couple of books, but they should be enough. Then I'll take it on after that.” Sighing, he added, tone weary, “The house won't be done in that short amount of time, but I'll get the relevant parts we need taken care of then we can work on the rest together.” Looking up, he asked, quietly, “Did you give him the blanket?”“I did and he adored it,” Albus told him with a smile. “That was most ingenious and will help, Sirius.” Sobering up, he suggested, “I think you need to get Remus involved, Sirius. I can go speak to him when we're done here, well, once I apply the Fidelius. He can help immeasurably with plenty of areas. It can aid poor Harry in getting over the stigma of what he is. You know what Remus is like. While Harry needs you, he needs to understand what Remus can teach him as well.”Thinking that over, Sirius gave a slow nod. “I'll let you do that. And give him the basics. I'll go through the rest when he gets here.” Sighing, he admitted, “I don't know where to begin with some of this, but I need to as I'm sure adolescence is starting. Once it kicks off, if I don't get bits in place, we're all going to have problems, big ones.” Looking up, he said, “And we have to worry about what else is coming.”“Yes, we will,” Albus admitted with a nod. “You'll manage. You, Harry and Remus worry about this and let me tend to the rest. Much has changed with the information you gave me. I'll take it on.” Looking around the kitchen, he said, “I think I may be able to get you some help, Sirius. It'll just cost you a small pittance a month.”“Anything there, Albus,” Sirius chuckled sadly. “Even with the three of us working, this house will take months to get even close to livable.”Smiling at that, Albus nodded then called for Dobby. When the elf popped up, he said, “Sirius would like to hire you, Dobby. I do understand that you like working at Hogwarts, but Harry is coming to live here and he needs help.”Pulling his ears in a pleased way, tears of happiness in his large tennis ball eyes, Dobby squeaked, “Harry Potter?”“That's the one,” Sirius snorted, grinning at the elf. “He's my godson.”“Dobby would be happy to serve the godfather of Harry Potter,” the elf squeaked happily, bowing so deeply, and repeatedly, that he was almost banging his head on the table.Chortling, Albus said, “Go get your belongings together. Sirius agreed to pay you the same rate as Hogwarts with your day off. Then hurry back. There is much to tend to in this house to get it ready for Harry.”Assuring them he would do so, Dobby popped off.Still chortling, Albus said, “You now have all the help you need.” Sighing, he sobered up then said, “About the elf in residence. While you should be cleared shortly, it's best to deal with him now. I say you send him to Hogwarts. We can easily keep an eye on him there. Of course, there'll be some special instructions, but we can easily tend to that.”“We'll do that as I do not want him around me or Harry,” Sirius said, pleased with this.Reaching over across the table, Albus patted Sirius' hand then said, softly, “It'll be over soon and you'll be together. Just trust me Sirius.”“I hope so, because this is maddening,” Sirius admitted, shaking his head. He just hoped that was true.

At breakfast the last day of term, the Great Hall was far louder than normal. Though that was normal, as plenty were excited to go home, this was beyond that. The reason for that was what was emblazoned across the front page of the Prophet: 'Sirius Black Proven Innocent and Pardoned'.
While the lion's table was much atwitter over that proclamation, with Ron and Hermione trying to draw him into the conversation, Harry just stared at the headline and picture of his godfather. This was wonderful! Dumbledore had promised him he was doing something, but he didn't expect it so soon.Sitting there, staring at the current picture of Sirius, a much cleaned up man who was dressed nicely, the picture grinning and winking at him, Harry was happy. He had felt plenty of 'good things' coming through the connection he now knew was from the bond, but didn't know how they related. He did now, though, and loved it.As he reread the article, though he was certain he could now recite it by heart, he wondered how this would change what was going on. Did he have to go back to the Dursleys? What about the wards there? How much time would he be spending with Sirius? Would whoever honor his role as godfather and give him custody? He didn't know the answers to any of those questions and wanted to. What he also didn't know was how to get the answers. Though Hedwig was fast, he didn't think she could get to wherever Sirius was staying and back before they left after Closing Feast.Putting the paper down, ignoring everything around him, Harry just stared at it, eyes locked on Sirius'. He was keeping it, that's all there was to it. Maybe he could get Hermione's as well, so he could cut out the picture to put in his album. That he wanted as he didn't have any current ones of his godfather. Reaching out and rubbing a trembling finger over the picture, Harry grinned again. He was free and cleared. That's all that mattered. The rest of the questions he had would end up answered later.Drawn out of his thoughts by Hermione almost shouting his name, he looked at her then grinned sheepishly. Seeing a soft smile from his friend, something that told him she understood, he finally allowed himself to be drawn into the conversation. Like him, everyone else had plenty of questions about what would come. Also, like him, they didn't have any answers to them. That was fine, though, as he might pick up some bits that could help him figure it out.
Standing by the stairs on the first floor of Grimmauld Place with Remus, Sirius gave an approving nod. This was—damn!
While Dobby was about the strangest house elf he had ever met in his life, he more than made up for any eccentricities by his enthusiasm and ability to get shite done! He and Remus, both, had thought it would take months to get this place livable and not dangerous. They were wrong. The elf had managed in under a week. Not only was the place cleaner than he had ever seen it, the furniture in the areas they would use was all changed out with new, the carpets, paint, wallpaper, fixtures, all of it was replaced. Oh, it wasn't done, but it was in the areas they were going to use. The rest the elf swore would be done within a month. He and Remus had spent the last week tending to pests and other various bits, but that wasn't hard. Now the place was perfectly safe for Harry. In fact, it was better than when he lived here as every dark object in the place, the paintings, tapestry, all of it were gone. There had been one bit, a locket, that they had sent on to Albus as it was—they didn't know what it was, but the rest had been binned.Remus was now living here, having a room on the floor below where he and Harry would be. That was good as he was going to give all the help he could on the mess. While he might not be up on everything that came with the incubus, he knew more than most. That Sirius needed. Not only did he know more, he knew where to look for information that could help. Even better there. Albus had also stepped up to the plate and found them all he could on the topic. And, much to his surprise, Amelia Bones had taken it upon herself to get what the Ministry had, sending it to Albus so they could have it. That—they didn't realize how much help this would be.Looking around, Remus gave a pleased nod. “This is good, Sirius. We can better press on this way when it comes to working with what Harry's dealing with. Not all the time, mind you, but we can give him a crash course and put the most basics in place. That we need before school starts again.”“We do and this is good,” Sirius agreed with a nod. “You've got the spell to test for the stages of adolescence?” That they needed so they could prepare for what was coming.“I have it and mastered what's needed,” Remus assured him with a nod. “Albus got it from Poppy, so it's the right one. We'll take that on first so we know just what we're starting out with.”“Good,” Sirius told him with a pleased nod.Smiling, Remus also told him, “Albus tested the wards this morning. He said the Bonding Ward settled itself on the house and is actually stronger than the Blood Wards on Privet Drive ever were. That can only help with what's coming.”“Even better,” Sirius grinned. Chuckling, shoulders shaking, he added, “And Harry has no idea he's coming here when he gets off the train. That and what I have tickets for this summer.”“Or what you're doing next term,” Remus told him with a pleased smile. “It'll be a wonderful surprise for him.” Sobering up, he added, softly, “For all he's been through, and you, for that matter, this will be wonderful.” Shaking his head, he sighed, “I wish James and Lily had let me in on the secret. I could have done something over the years. At least to lessen the shame he is probably dealing with.”“It's my thought that they intended to, at least at some point. James mentioned you to me, so their thought probably was that I would drag you in and get you to help. It just—things went a way they couldn't ever have envisioned.” Sirius sighed. “We'll make up for it, though, that I swear.”“We will,” Remus agreed with a short nod. “By the time he returns, he'll be in a better place when it comes to what he feels and the self-esteem issues he has to be dealing with over this. That, I think, comes before most everything else. It's probably sorely needed after all these years.”“No doubt there,” Sirius told him, knowing what he felt through the connection with the bond. “We won't get him there completely, but we'll get it started.” Changing topics, he asked, “Buckbeak’s new place is ready, and he’s moved?” Dobby had mentioned tending to that earlier.“All ready,” Remus told him with a smile. “Dobby made him quite a nice room on the first floor and he has a temporary door to the outside. Since the backyard isn't done yet, he'll have a multitude of live food sources to supplement the ferrets we give him. As this is only temporary until Albus moves him, he'll be quite comfortable then the room can be converted into anything we like.”“Perfect,” Sirius grinned, nodding. “Right, let's go up and make sure Harry's room is ready. I've got posters and other bits we can put up. Not sure what he likes, but I picked up some Quidditch ones. He can take over decorating from there. We'll let him pick out what he wants when we take him shopping for the other needed bits in a few days.”“Ah, yes, the godfather spoiling him,” Remus smiled, shoulders shaking a little.“I'm allowed,” Sirius grinned. “James and Lily had to know it was coming when they gifted me with the title.” Sobering up, he added, “He deserves it. You don't know what I’ve gotten through that connection all these years, Remus. He suffered plenty. It's time he was spoiled a little. And I have a lot of time to make up for.”“This is true,” Remus conceded with a nod. “We'll manage. I don't think it's possible for Harry to become a brat over it, so I see no harm.”“Right,” Sirius agreed. Looking around, he said, “Let's get on the last minute bits so we can meet the train on time. You're coming with me in case someone gets stupid. Besides, you can be an intermediary between me and some of the others, like the Weasleys. If they're close to Harry, its best we get off on the right foot.” Seeing Remus nod, he motioned him to follow so they could get some minor things in place.
As the Express started into London, Harry was getting everything ready, as he always did. The ride back was like normal, though he was far more quiet than usual. That's because he wasn't sure what was coming this time. Since no one had said anything to the contrary, he assumed he was going back to the Dursleys, but hoped to be allowed to spend time with Sirius over the summer. If he got to do the latter, it would more than make up for Privet Drive.
When the train began pulling into the station, slowly easing onto the platform, the conversation around him and the noise from the mad scramble for everyone to gather their things was lost on Harry. His eyes were locked on the platform and who was there. It was Sirius. Professor Lupin was with him as well, but Harry was focused on Sirius. Wide grin spreading across his face, he stood and gathered everything, making sure Hedwig was comfortable, then all but ran out of the train, for once not waiting for Ron and Hermione.Trunk rattling behind him after getting off the train, he all but ran over to where Sirius was standing by the Weasleys. When his godfather looked at him and grinned, Harry parked the trunk then threw himself on Sirius. As his godfather's arms wrapped around him, it felt so good, so right.Clinging to Sirius, who held him tight, Harry asked, voice uneven, “Please tell me this means I get to live with you.”“You're coming home. That's with me,” Sirius assured him softly, holding him close, rubbing his back. Kissing him on the top of the head, eyes burning, he reiterated, “Your home is with me, Harry. You never have to go back to that awful place. I swear.”“Good,” Harry grinned, his own eyes burning, refusing to let go of his godfather. Perfect. Utterly perfect. This felt right and better than anything in his life.Breaking off the hug when Harry finally loosened his grip, Sirius slipped an arm around Harry's shoulders. Grinning at his godson, he then looked at the smiling Arthur and Molly. Nodding to them, he said, “We're going to go. Lots to do. We'll see all of you later this summer.” After Harry said his goodbyes to his grinning friends, Sirius had Remus grab Harry's trunk and Hedwig, then guided him towards the wall that led to the main station. There was one more thing that they had to do before they left, but he was sure Harry would love it.After all of them made it through the wall to the main part of the station, Sirius' eyes lit on the walrus Vernon and that shrew of a wife of his, Petunia. Feeling Harry stiffen up when he saw them, he tightened his hold on his godson then led him over there.Lifting his chin when Vernon gruffly told Harry they were leaving, he snarled, “No, you're not. You and I are having a few words before you leave, Vernon.” Eyes flitting to Petunia, who looked sour, he snapped, “I'm Harry's godfather, just so you know that, and I know just how you've treated your nephew.” Grinning almost manically, he added, “I just got out of prison, too, after twelve years. Was in for murder.”Harry couldn't help but snicker as the two went deathly pale at that tidbit. Shaking his head, he just looked at them, waiting.Face taking on a furious cast, he hissed, “You're both abusive and should be reported to the authorities. The same with that delinquent you call a son. I would relish doing it and I'm sure Harry wouldn't have a problem telling them all you've done to him.”Hearing Vernon sputter out denials, though the man looked like he was going to have some kind of heart storm, Sirius cut him off, “You are and would deserve it. I might just do that at some point. You never know.” Clutching Harry close, he then said, eyes flinty, “It ends now, though. Harry won't be going home with you. He's coming with me. Your slave labor is gone. He won't ever be your concern again.” Though seeing some relief there, he stepped closer then lowered his voice, “Those Blood Wards that protected all of you for so long are now gone. They fell just minutes ago when Harry was told he's coming to his real home. While some of us put up some to give you the most basic of protections, they aren't nearly as good as those Blood Wards were.”Eyes flitting to the pale Petunia, he snarled, “My hope is the first person that you meet on the other side after you die is your sister so she can express her displeasure with you over how you treated her son. That will be true justice.” Focusing on Vernon, who was looking pleased for once, he added, “And that you meet James. I doubt he'll be nice either.”Stepping back, keeping Harry right at his side, he said, “Just so you know—the person that killed Harry's parents is back. It won't be long until he gains full power. When he does, you'll be a target. While some might try to help you, you're on your own. I don't fancy your chances of coming out of that alive.” With that, he looked down at Harry and smiled then said, turning them and motioning Remus to follow, “Let's go home.”Without a look back at his family, Harry leaned against Sirius and let him lead the way. He was finally going home. Resting his head on Sirius' shoulder as they made their way out of the bustling station, he smiled. Life was perfect.

Sitting in Sirius' room, curled up on his godfather's lap, Harry was looking over what appeared to be a disaster area. If he didn't know just what was going on, he would have sworn neither of them had cleaned up in here for months as everything was scattered all over. Chuckling, he shook his head then sighed and rested his head back on Sirius' shoulder. This was amazing.
This past summer—it had changed his life completely. While he wasn't entirely at ease with what he was and the thought that he was a freak, even among their kind, was still there, it had lessened to a degree. Sirius and Remus had helped more than he ever thought anyone could. He now understood why he had bits no one else did, at least that he could see, what it meant, the connection to Sirius, what that would entail in the future, and so much else. That made him feel better. No, he wasn't ready to reveal what he was to his friends, but he was more at ease with it. They had also started working with the magic he had that came from being an incubus. As it wasn't done using his wand, it was something he could do without getting cited for underage magic. That was good. It was just odd, not the same kind and he couldn't do a lot, but he could some. That was great as far as he was concerned. On top of that bit, he had gotten to know Sirius, something he adored. His godfather made sure he got plenty of attention, got him new clothes, new things of all kinds, his own huge room decorated how he wanted it, all the food he could eat, going out to have fun, all kinds of bits. He had even managed to get them tickets to the Quidditch World Cup! They had gone with Remus and the Weasleys, having a great time. He adored that. Though what came after that was terrifying. Unlike times in the past, Sirius had stuck with him, not making them go off and defend themselves. Afterwards, once they were home safe, he had explained just what he thought it meant. It was so Harry could protect himself. After that, the summer had gone smoothly, he went to the Weasleys for his birthday like normal, with Sirius and Remus along. Then he got the surprise of his life. Sirius was coming to Hogwarts with him. That was great!Because of the bond there and what was probably coming from it, not to mention some of his 'gifts', Sirius needed to stay close. As Professor Dumbledore needed a Defense teacher and Sirius was an ex-Auror, he was taking it on. Though Harry was mildly worried about that, because of what happened to the past teachers and the talk of a curse on the position, Sirius just chuckled then told him not to worry about. He was going to teach, but Remus was coming along to assist. So, they could keep an eye on each other. Professor Dumbledore was having someone else coming in to help at times, but Sirius said it wasn't anything to worry about. While Harry adored that, as he would get to have his godfather around all the time, he found out it was even better than that. He was going to get to stay in Sirius' quarters with him and Remus! Though he adored the dorms, that pull was there. It seemed that Professor Dumbledore had gotten them a special dispensation for that because of the bond. It would be kept secret, of course, with the board hiding it and saying it was for protection, but it was there. Wonderful. It would be almost like a continuation of summer. That he loved. And he couldn't wait for the year to begin.
Coming into Sirius' quarters just before curfew, Harry dumped his books on the table and flopped in a chair by his godfather. Groaning, he shut his eyes. Feeling Sirius' arm slip around his shoulder, he smiled. From the look of it when he came in, his godfather was grading papers. Leaning his head on Sirius' shoulder, he gave a contented sigh. No matter how stressful the day, this always made him feel better. The connection was part of it, but the other part was it was Sirius.
“Rough day?” Sirius asked, tossing the last essay on the table. This was the part of teaching he didn't like, but he couldn't avoid it. Usually, Remus took it on, but it was the night of the full moon, so he was down in a secure location by Hagrid's hut. That was part of the caveat for him being along. No problem normally, it was just the coming excitement of the arrival from the other schools two days off that wasn't helping. The students were distracted, so they weren't as 'with it' as usual.“No more than normal,” Harry admitted. Wrinkling his nose, he said, “Just the girls.” That's where he left it as Sirius would get it. The sexual part of being an incubus was starting to manifest. Those pushing though the mid stages of adolescence to the end of it were noticing him. Oh, it wasn't bad, but he was getting attention he didn't want. That bothered him. Though he was working on controlling parts and adjusting to what was manifesting, there were parts he couldn't yet. The sexual part was one of those.“We'll see about stepping up what we can do, Harry,” Sirius assured him, ruffling his already tousled hair. Sighing, he shook his head then added, “I'm not sure how much we can manage with it, though. It's not something we can control too much for a while. As it is, we're working with some of the other bits that are manifesting. Not to worry, we'll handle it. You know to come to me or Remus if they get too overt. Minerva and Albus both told you to go to them as well if someone is really unnerving you. We want you doing that.”“I will,” Harry assured him, not moving. Brow furrowing, Harry told him, “There is something else odd, though. Not sure what it is.”“What does it relate to?” Sirius asked, glancing down and wondering what this could be. Harry's other gifts were starting to form now that he was in the first stages of adolescence. Some of them weren't very helpful and were more related to what he was, but others were.“It's that one coming in to teach for a week with you; Professor Moody,” Harry told him, finally opening his eyes and looking at his godfather.“Alastor is odd,” Sirius admitted with a chuckle. “Always was, trust me. We won't get into the paranoid part.”“It's not that,” Harry told him softly, brow furrowing. “It's related to the increased sense of smell I have.” That was one of his new gifts. Though he was just getting used to it, this was the one that didn't bother him much. In fact, it had helped plenty in avoiding some stuff since it manifested.Looking down at Harry, Sirius asked, now not sure what to make of what was said, “What about it? Do you know?”“Remember me telling you about the adventure with the Polyjuice Potion our second year?” Seeing Sirius grin and hearing him chuckle while nodding, he pressed on, “That stuff has a distinctive smell. I still remember it, though my sense of smell wasn't as good then as it is now. He smells like that, Sirius. I don't mean a little either, like he was just around it. It's almost like it clings to him.”Eyes widening, Sirius looked down at him then asked, to confirm, “Are you sure?” That was not good as Alastor would have no reason to be around the stuff. Then there was Snape bitching in the lounge about ingredients missing.“Oh, I'm sure,” Harry chuckled mirthlessly. “That junk stinks and it's powerful enough that it makes my stomach churn the way some girls who use too much perfume and guys cologne do. I mean, it smells like he bathes in it, Sirius.”“Stay right here,” Sirius told him as he practically jumped up from the couch then went to Floo Albus. This was not good and he wasn't sure what was going on.Though confused, wondering what was going on, Harry nodded and waited, hoping to figure it out.
Sitting on their sofa the following night with a very tired looking Remus in a chair by them, Harry looked between the two and asked, as he sipped a butterbeer, “So, what exactly happened? I only got parts of it where it related to me.” He was, of course, referring to Professor Moody. There had been a huge—whatever the night before that ended up with most of the teachers and the Ministry involved.
“You gave us a heads up that we needed, honestly,” Sirius told him softly. “Who we were seeing wasn't Alastor, it was Barty Crouch, Jr. Polyjuiced as Alastor. We found the real one locked in his trunk. Thankfully, Amelia Bones got here first and took custody of him, with Rufus helping. Fudge was actually bringing a Dementor to have him Kissed on the spot. She'll get out of him what is really going on. Albus is sure it relates to You-Know-Who in some way, as he was a follower of that evil git in the last war, but he's not sure how. We're hoping to find out soon. Not sure, though.”Seeing Harry about to ask, Remus walked him through the whole mess that they knew so far, including the history of what went on with the last war. Sighing, he said, “It's not good. We're not exactly sure what's going on, but Madam Bones and Rufus will sort it accordingly. Give them time.” Reaching over, he ruffled Harry's hair and smiled, “Everyone has a great deal to thank you for. You probably saved the real Alastor a great deal of pain and suffering. He might end up more paranoid now, but it's nothing to worry about. Poppy has him in the infirmary to make sure he's fine. Once he's out, Albus is having him stick around for the rest of the year. We're sure we'll need him for something. While he'll step in like Albus wanted with Defense, he's also going to be 'assigned' to help with security for the tournament. We do need that, honestly, especially after this debacle. Even Rufus and Madam Bones are admitting that whatever is going on is big.”“At least some of this helped,” Harry said with a tight smile, though sighing as he did. Changing topics, wanting to think more on that then formulate questions, he sighed. “I need to talk to you about Potions again. The smell--,” he shuddered, shaking his head. “Today was really bad and it took everything I had not to have to run out and get sick. I'm not sure how much more I can take as it just seems to grow worse with each class.”“Let me get with Albus again to see what we can manage,” Sirius told him, planning to do just that. Since this 'gift' had manifested, Harry had issues with Potions. As it grew and formed, he wasn't handling some things well and they weren't sure how much worse it would get. Harry needed Potions for his OWLs, but they were hoping, because of the documentation of what was going on, that he might be able to end up exempted. They weren't sure there, but Harry couldn't continue on if it was already causing him plenty of issues. Clapping him on the shoulder, Sirius assured him, “Nothing to worry about. We'll find a way.” They would, too. It would just take time.
Lying in Sirius' bed, his godfather cuddled up to his back, Harry watched the late spring thunderstorm that was over them. The gloom and rain seemed to match his mood. It was the night before they went home for the summer, something he had been looking forward to. He still was, as the year had been stressful. Now he was just fixated on what they found out that night. Cedric Diggory was dead.
Cedric had vanished during the last task of the tournament. The cup, too, had been gone, so it looked like he had taken it or something. There had been a big hunt for him, of course, as no one knew for sure what happened, but nothing was found. Well, until today. They had found his body in a cemetery outside a small town on the grave of someone named Riddle. It appeared he'd been used for something then killed. No one was sure just what happened, of course, but Sirius and Remus told him that Albus was sure that it was Voldemort in some way. In fact, he was so sure that he was reforming something from the last war to help, called the Order. Sirius and Remus were part of the last one and would be this time as well. They assured him they would be safe, but he couldn't help but worry. Especially since Grimmauld Place would be the Headquarters of the thing. That told him it was dangerous.Feeling Sirius snuggle closer to him in his sleep, Harry sighed and shut his eyes. He didn't always sleep in Sirius' bed, just the times he was stressed or upset, though he was gravitating to it more often. No, nothing beyond sleep happened, but he always felt better when he slept there. Tonight it didn't seem like it was helping.Listening to the thunder boom, he focused on Sirius' breathing and the connection there. That helped more as Sirius wasn't overly stressed. Good. Somehow, though, he thought the worst was yet to come.Chapter 7

Looking around as Sirius was packing their things to get ready for their return to school, Harry sighed. He was looking forward to going back, of course, but he wasn't as well, for the first time. It had been a very stressful summer.
The Order, as he found out, was something that was gearing up to fight Voldemort. They had plenty of meetings over the summer. Some he was allowed to attend and some he wasn't. Even if he wasn't, Sirius and Remus made sure that he was filled in so he could protect himself. They were now all sure that it was Voldemort that killed Cedric with the Killing Curse. The wounds found on him weren't enough to cause his death and there was no other cause. That told them he was used for something. What? No one really knew, but the best guess came from Snape. The man had been summoned shortly after school let out and he said Voldemort had his body back. From what Sirius told them, Cedric was probably used to manage that in some way. While Fudge didn't like it, Madam Bones and Rufus, both, were leaning there too, so he wasn't saying much publicly. He wasn't even denying it, something that was causing a great deal of speculation in the papers. He was now getting visions again, some anyway. Flashes here and there of a door somewhere that said Hall of Prophecy. Unlike times in the past where he worried about these bits, he didn't now, knowing where they were coming from. As Sirius and Dumbledore, both, assured him what was there wasn't a two-way street, he would tell Sirius each time. Then his godfather would tell Dumbledore. In fact, when told, Dumbledore was inordinately pleased with the information. Sirius told him it was because Voldemort was after an old prophecy there to see what it said. Dumbledore knew, apparently, and thought at one point that it related to him. Since then, though, he realized it didn't mean anything, so they were passing the information to the Ministry to keep an eye out. They were going to act like they were protecting it, but it was a trap. Though Harry didn't completely understand that, he decided to trust that they knew what they were doing.Sighing as he watched Sirius pack, he shook his head. They were going a few days early so Sirius and Remus could get set up. With everyone on such high alert, Dumbledore wanted extra security measures put in place, so the two would have to go early to help. That was fine. As long as he was with Sirius, he was good. From what he understood, Sirius was going to Apparate to King's Cross with him to catch the train so he could ride with his friends. That was fine, too. Well, mostly. His reason for not looking forward to this year was more personal. It was—well, the hormones were kicking in. The draw to Sirius was pulling harder and making him slightly mental. Sirius was handling it fine, of course, knowing where it was coming from, it was just like a mad itch that he couldn't control. He was sure that it would end up even worse as it pressed on. They knew that it was adolescence kicking into high gear. That was causing problems when he was around some people as a few were acting like some had around Fleur the year before when it came to him. And if that wasn't unnerving, he didn't know what was. He was sure that it would end up worse when they were back in the castle. He was now sleeping with Sirius almost all the time, other than for odd reasons, such as Sirius having a late Order meeting. That wasn't a problem and would continue at Hogwarts as well. It was just—he wanted to go there. Sirius refused, though, saying they would wait until he hit sixteen. While he got the reasons for that, it didn't make the longing stop. That wasn't helping.Of course, as expected, they were trying to mute what was happening slightly, so Harry didn't have to deal with the unwanted attention, it just wasn't working well. Nothing they found worked more than to dull it slightly. Remus told him he didn't think it would until he was through with adolescence or he and Sirius finished what was there. They were trying, though. That was all they could do.Finishing up what he was doing, Sirius double checked to make sure everything was there then sent it all to the castle with Dobby. Unlike times past, Dobby was going to come with them to watch over Harry because of the reactions he was getting from some. Albus was sending an elf to watch over the house for them a couple days a week. It would work out well.Taking a seat by Harry, he pulled his godson into his lap and held him close. He knew what the issue was, of course, and understood, to an extent. They would just have to press on. Kissing Harry on the side of the head, rubbing his back, he soothed, “It'll be fine. Nothing to worry about. If you're not with me or Remus, Dobby will be around. In fact, he's going to be on the train with you. One hint of problems and he's bringing you to the castle early. Nothing to worry about. Just trust us.”“I know, it's just the idea,” Harry sighed. “I'd rather not go as I know this is going to end up a nightmare.”“It'll be bad,” Sirius admitted with a nod. “No one is going to tell you otherwise. Don't let it bug you. We've got all in place we can, the heads of houses are going to be on alert for problems, though they won't be told exactly why some might end up affected, and will have a contingency plan for it. We'll deal with it as it comes.” Lowering his voice and softening his tone, he added, “You're going to be safer in the castle, Harry. We all know that what everyone thought at first is wrong now and you aren't the reason for the prophecy or whatever else that evil arse thinks, but he doesn't know that. That means you're in danger. We want you where you're safest. That's in that castle. We can protect you there and you have all of us you can go to if something goes wonky.”“True,” Harry admitted with a smile, unwilling to admit he was more worried about the reaction from his 'gift' than Voldemort.“We'll handle it all, don't worry. If it gets too bad in the common room, just come to my quarters. I might not be there, but you’ll be safe.” Sirius soothed once more. Stroking his head, he grinned then said, “And you don't have to take Potions! Think how great that will be!” That was something that finally had to come.Harry's sense of smell was now so much more powerful than a normal human's that he couldn't take the bombardment of scents that came from brewing. The last term had him actually sick from that a couple of times, so the Board had allowed an exemption. While that left him with less options for careers, it sure cut the stress. The only thing was Harry had to pass the theory. That was fine. He and Remus were more than capable of taking that on with him.Grinning, Harry chuckled, “That'll be nice.” Sobering up, he shook his head then sighed, “Hermione and Ron will ask even more questions now.” Since the year before, the two had been very curious about what was going on as so much had changed and he didn't have to stay in the dorms. He had managed to fend their questions off the best he could, but they would get worse now and he wasn't sure if he could manage that much longer.“We need to tell them,” Sirius said gently, still stroking his head. Shaking it when Harry's came up and he looked at him, he told his godson, “When they found out Hagrid was a half-giant, it didn't matter. What you are won't either, Harry. Hermione is smart enough to understand what this is. Hell, if we don't start explaining, she may figure it out on her own. That we don't want. It's better to tell her. I'm sure she'll keep a leash on Ron as well. Remus and I will sit with you and explain it all. You won't have to do this alone.”Sighing, knowing Sirius was right, especially about Hermione, Harry gave a reluctant nod. “We will. I can't do this alone, though.”“You won't have to,” Sirius assured him. “I swear. We'll pick a weekend and bring them to my quarters then walk them through it. Nothing to worry about.” Holding Harry close, he said, “It's going to come out anyway at some point. Its better they know the truth now then end up blindsided later.”“There is that,” Harry admitted with a groan. Reaching up to scratch around his horns, he shook his head. “I'll deal. I just don't want it to go beyond them.”“We'll make sure,” Sirius smiled. Giving him a squeeze, he said, “Now, if we hurry up, we can get to the castle before the elves shut the dorm doors. That way you can get in and see the other dorms. Remus may huff, but we'll have fun. What do you think?”“You're a bad influence,” Harry grinned, though he loved it. “Isn't it against the rules as a teacher? I want to, though!”“I'm not officially a teacher until September first,” Sirius assured him. “So, I'm allowed to be my normal bad influence until then.” Patting Harry to have him stand up, he then did that himself with a groan. Looking around to double check that they got everything, he said, “Let's grab Remus and get to it! We'll start with Ravenclaw. I heard that's interesting!”Following Sirius as he led the way, Harry couldn't help but grin. He loved his godfather more with every passing day.
Refusing to look up from the floor, Harry waited for what Ron, Ginny, Hermione, Neville and Luna had to say. He, Remus and Sirius had just finished telling them what was really going on because they were asking so many questions. At this point, it was only a month or so before winter break and there was plenty of speculation. Him being excused from Potions just started it. Then came some other bizarre bits with people, boys and girls, both, trying something with him to the point that teachers ended up involved to rescue him. Couple that with him staying with Sirius and other things, the rumors were running rampant. Hermione, he finally found out, was digging, so it was time to come clean.
At the moment, he had his glamour down so they could see the real him. He hadn't heard any gasps of horror, but he couldn't face the reactions either, so he was waiting. Feeling Sirius' hand on his shoulder, giving it a squeeze, he reached up and clutched onto it like a lifeline, hoping this came out well. However, the first person to speak had Harry grinning and his shoulders shaking.“Are you sure he's not related to the crumpled horn snorkack? He looks more like that than an incubus,” Luna mused softly, staring at her friend.Snickering, Sirius assured her, “He's mostly incubus, trust me. It's in the family line.”“Well, I was just making sure. The snorkack is more interesting, of course.” Luna said in her usual dreamy voice.Fighting the urge to roll her eyes, Hermione just shook her head. Looking at Harry, she sighed, “I was wondering what was going on. So many strange things were coming up that just didn't relate. We thought You-Know-Who, of course, but when he was exempted from Potions, that threw most of them out.”“Harry's had to come to grips with plenty over the years with this, especially since he had no idea what was going on or why he was different until I escaped.” Sirius explained, looking between the five there. “He also wants it kept a secret. It's hard enough as it is that he doesn't want to deal with the bigoted reaction some might have. What's going on now is bad enough.”“No problem, mate,” Ron said softly. Though blindsided by this, he was going with it as it wasn't something that had come out of the blue. Harry had always been an incubus and he hadn't changed since they met. “You should have told us sooner.”“I just didn't know, all I knew was that I was different,” Harry told him with a shake of his head. “With all that's gone on, I didn't want to make that worse by taking a chance on it getting out.”“Understandable there,” Neville nodded. Grinning, he asked, “Explain to me how you managed to get the exemption from Potions so I can try.”Hearing Hermione huff over that, probably getting ready to go on a lecture, and seeing Harry grin, Sirius chuckled, “Sorry, Neville, you won't manage. It has to do with his sense of smell and how it was actually making him sick because it's far more refined. Not something you can pull off.” However, this was good. Harry's friends were sticking with him and it wouldn't change anything. He was sure about four of them, but Ron could be iffy with some. That had him worried.“This is why so many are all but chasing you and sending you stuff with love potions in it,” Ginny sighed.“It's something that's causing major issues,” Remus admitted with a sad shake of his head. “We're trying what we can to dim it, but it's not going to help much. So, we just ask that if you hear anything, to let us know. That way we can head it off before it grows worse.”“We will,” Hermione told him sounding determined, a firm look on her face.Clapping Harry on the back, Sirius grinned then added, happy with this, “Which means you lot get to participate in the now time honored tradition of decorating Harry's horns for Christmas! I've just started convincing Remus to join in, so it'll be the more the merrier!”“Bloody hell,” Harry moaned, but was grinning as he did. As he had a rather impressive set of horns now, ones that curled almost all the way around to his temples, Sirius had taken to doing that for the laughs the first year they were together. He was sure it was his godfather's way of getting him used to them. Since then, it had become a fun tradition that Remus now helped with.“Tinsel, balls, all of it,” Sirius told him with a grin, ruffling his hair.Grinning at that image himself, Ron chuckled, “We can do that.” Sobering up, he asked, softly, “Do mum and dad know? I mean, it won't matter to them.”“No, not yet.” Remus told him. “I plan to go talk to them just before term lets out. We wanted to see how all of you took it first before we took that step. Nothing more. We'll fill them in.”“Good,” Ron nodded with a smile. Grinning a tiny bit, he added, “Maybe mum will knit you something for your horns to keep them warm, too.”Laughing at that image, Harry just shook his head. It was funny, that's for sure, but it also felt good to know that his friends wouldn't run off because he was different. That was better than anything else in the world.
Christmas was great as far as Harry was concerned. The Weasleys, minus Charlie, were all over at the house for the day. Dobby had gone above and beyond to decorate, so they had plenty of special things around. Of course, he got his normal huge haul of presents from Sirius and Remus, then even more from his friends and the rest of the Weasleys. There was even a good laugh because, apparently, Ron had said something to his mum and she had a knitted a pair of 'horn warmers' to wear around. That was a riot.
As expected, the Weasleys didn't have an issue with what he was and treated him just like they always had. Good. At one point, Bill, with Fleur, had pulled him aside so she could give him some pointers on how to dim what was there. It wasn't much, as she was part Veela and him incubus, but there were bits they hadn't tried, so it was something they were going to give a go. It couldn't hurt, after all.Though that was great and he adored it, there were stressful bits as well. There were several Order meetings over the hols. Mostly it was just to keep everyone up on what was going on with that prophecy the evil git wanted. That was fine as it wasn't overly stressful. Dumbledore told them, looking smug, that not only wasn't the evil git getting anywhere with some of this like he hoped, but he was frustrated. Even better was that Amelia Bones and Rufus were trying to set a trap. In that, they were getting hair to use from Order members so actual Aurors and Hitwizards could disguise themselves to see if they couldn't trap Death Eaters. Harry thought that was pretty great, honestly. It showed him they were taking this seriously.Another tidbit that he learned was something that made him grin. Sirius let him in on the secret that Tonks and Remus were finally getting together after she had been chasing him since they met. He thought that was great! He liked Tonks, a lot, so did Sirius. Remus deserved happiness and what he was shouldn't matter to so many, though it did. If it didn't matter to Tonks, something Sirius assured him it didn't, that was even better. He just hoped that the two would end up happy over it.
Looking up as Sirius came into their quarters at Hogwarts, Harry stiffened. Quietly, he asked, “Did it work?” It was right after the OWL testing and Rufus himself had come to Hogwarts to get hair from him and his friends so some Aurors and Hitwizards could disguise themselves as them to try some kind of big plan. Sirius wasn't exactly sure what was going on with that, just that it was huge and they were trying to pull it off the night OWL testing ended. He, Hermione, Luna, Ron and Neville actually had to stay hidden because of this, so that they could pull it off in case there was a spy of some sort in the school. Sirius had been called away not long ago so he could be told what went on by Dumbledore.
Coming over and taking a seat by Harry, Sirius pulled him into a one armed hug. Kissing him atop the head, Sirius sighed, “Yes and no. What we got is that there was a breakout from Azkaban this afternoon. The followers of that evil git got out.”Sucking in a breath, Harry's eyes widened then he said, tone hushed, “That's not good.”“No, it's not,” Sirius admitted truthfully. “And it means that we all now have to really stay on our toes from here on out as that's huge.” Pressing on, he said, “The other part partially worked. Albus got some kind of a heads up about something in the Hall of Prophecy. Turns out the tip was true. It turned out the evil arse was trying to draw you in by sending out some kind of fake vision. You didn't get it, obviously, but he didn't know that. What Rufus and Amelia set up was for some Aurors to show up as you and your friends. That part worked as there were plenty of Death Eaters there. Lucius Malfoy himself was one and he grabbed 'you', trying to get you to get him the Prophecy. What he didn't realize was he had a hold of Kingsley. The Prophecy was broken, several people Polyjuiced as Order members showed up and the fight was on. Even the evil git showed up, with everyone there, including Fudge, seeing him. That evil git got away, but they got their hands on plenty, including Lucius, my cousin Bella and a couple others that had just escaped from Azkaban. That's good, though. It means denial is over and the Ministry is preparing for war.”“No one was hurt, were they?” He was thinking of Tonks and Kingsley there, as he knew they were Aurors.“A couple minor injuries, but nothing serious,” Sirius assured him, rubbing his head. Looking serious for once, he then sighed, “We have to stay alert now. It's all coming to a head. Albus is onto something that can end this. He's going to get with Amelia and Rufus to get them to help. Not sure what it is, but it has to do with that diary you destroyed and a locket we found in Grimmauld Place. He said it's the key to finally finishing off that arse for good. I'm sure we'll learn more over the summer.”Nodding, Harry took that in and looked at Sirius, not sure what to ask as there were plenty of questions bouncing around in his mind. He would wait for those, though, until they got home. Then he would sit down and sort it out.“Remus and I are going to ride the train home with you lot. There'll be some Aurors on it as well. Everyone is in danger, especially you lot, so they want to keep everyone safe.” Sirius told him. Pulling him close, he said, “Just enjoy the last few days here and it'll be fine, I swear. We'll press on from there, Harry. As long as you and I are together, we'll get along fine. Remember that.”Leaning against Sirius, Harry smiled. That was true. As long as he had Sirius, they would be fine and nothing would happen.Chapter 8
You trick your lovers,
That you're wicked and divine,
You may be a sinner,
But your innocence is mine.
Please me,
Show me how it's done,
Tease me,
You are the one

Sighing, Harry was curled up in Sirius' bed, waiting for him to finish whatever he was doing. It was only a couple weeks until they had to go back to Hogwarts, so he wanted to spend as much time with Sirius as he could manage. Since the summer had been hectic, there hadn't been as much time together alone as they had previously.
The incidents right before school let out set off a huge chain of events. Fudge was gone, killed by Death Eaters after he announced Voldemort's return the day after what was now being called the Battle in the Department of Mysteries. Though it was fairly obvious the evil git was back, he apparently didn't like it being announced to the world and went after Fudge. While Fudge was out, Harry was seeing that as huge mistake on Voldemort's end, probably more akin to a temper tantrum over it. Sirius was agreeing with that. The mistake part was that Amelia Bones took over and she wasn't one to be trifled with. She went after Voldemort with everything she had at her disposal. The idiot followers that were captured weren't put back in Azkaban. She sent them elsewhere and no one knew where it was. Lucius actually began singing about everything he knew after a week at wherever that was. Sirius told him that he was sure that had to do with Draco and protecting him as he was sure to be a target since Lucius had failed to get that Prophecy. Narcissa apparently thought more highly of her son than her husband, because she had taken Draco and done a runner, vanishing to parts unknown. Sirius told him that was a wise move as they were sure to end up a target as that evil git was going off his nut over this.As expected, their world had exploded over this and the evil git was trying everything he could. He was failing, though. Sirius told him, sounding smug, that those in power had learned from the lessons of the last war and were using those to help. It also assisted that Amelia Bones was not playing with anyone. One hint someone was helping that side and she was all over them, making sure to get evidence to prove it before chucking them in jail. That was working quite well, honestly. It made the unwashed masses feel protected, thus more likely to turn someone in, and had plenty on the run, something that only helped. The Order was helping the Ministry all they could, with Dumbledore giving up all he had. There was one big secret, though. He knew it, but was the only one of school age that did. Those in the Order did and Dumbledore made sure that those in the Ministry did. They were called Horcruxes. It's how Voldemort had managed to come back. Everyone was scrambling to find and destroy them as, from what he was told, it was the only way they could finally end Voldemort. It was just going to take time, something they didn't have a lot of, honestly, but they had to make it.Because of the danger so many were in, Amelia Bones had made an executive order for him, Hermione, Luna, Neville, Ron, Ginny and a handful of others that were the most affected now had no Trace on them and could do magic outside of school. Sirius told him that was a big step and showed how seriously she was taking it. He, Ron, Hermione and Ginny had all also gotten a crash course in Defense over the summer, learning plenty that hadn't been taught in school. From what Sirius told him, he and Remus, both, were going to take on the class when they got back to school and make damned sure everyone knew what they were doing when it came to defending themselves. That was good, though, as it meant they could better protect themselves. The only thing that upset him was that he and Sirius still hadn't consummated the bond yet. His sixteenth birthday had come and gone, but they hadn't done anything. He understood Sirius' reasons, of course, as it would give the other in the bond a chance to live if one died, but he wanted it, badly. There was not only the almost overwhelming pull to do that, but he was now plowing through adolescence. That was causing major issues, with even Muggles noticing. The bond finishing would put an end to that. If he had his way, they would manage before school started again.Sighing and shutting his eyes, Harry was worried about plenty of not only people, but other areas. While he wasn't looking forward to the coming school year for classes, he wanted to get back to the castle. He knew all of them were safer there, despite some of the kids that were offspring of Death Eaters. Grimmauld Place was good, but Hogwarts was better. So, he wanted to be there.Curling up tighter, head on Sirius' pillow so he could smell him, he tried to think what to do about some of this. While the war was high on the list, it fell behind Sirius. That he wanted more than anything.
After doing his normal check for everything, including the wards and for whoever might be lingering in the park across the street, Sirius, with a tired groan, finally headed towards the stairs to go to bed. There was now only a week left before classes started and it couldn't come soon enough as far as he was concerned. While he wasn't enthralled with teaching, he just wanted all of them back in the castle where they were safest, especially Harry. Harry came before anything else in his life. So, he wanted to make sure he was protected. Like the year before, they were going a few days early to make damned sure that the school was safe.
As he trudged up the stairs, making sure to keep an eye out for anything odd, though he knew nothing was, he sighed. At the moment, he was rethinking consummating the bond. It wasn't the easiest choice in the whole world, that's for damned sure! On the one hand, not doing that would allow Harry to live if he died, though he doubted his godson would ever be truly happy without him. On the other, though, Harry could end up more protected if he was with him, control what was now there causing huge problems and they might be able to help each other more. That part had him rethinking this.Harry wanted it, badly, that he knew. In fact, they'd argued about it a couple times. He hadn't budged, though. What he didn't say was the pull was just as strong for him to finish it. It might actually be stronger as he was driven to protect Harry because of the promise to James. That didn't make this easier. He had talked it over a few times with Remus, then gone to Albus, laying it out. Both of them told him that they thought he needed to finally seal it. Harry was at the legal age of consent, knew what he was doing, understood just what this meant, everything that he should. Albus also pointed out that it could only help in plenty of ways. The gifts of the incubus were more than just what they saw so far. He knew that, of course, from reading on it. What Albus told him tonight when they talked was that if they did finish this, that not only was he protecting Harry more, but Harry could help protect him. That might end up needed. So, he was pondering it, seriously, and not sure what to do.After stepping onto the top floor, making sure the extra warding they put on it was firmly in place, he sighed then headed for his bedroom. Of course, Harry would be in there waiting for him, as he always was anymore. His thought was to talk this all out. However, when he opened the door, that thought flew off like a snitch and vanished somewhere.Harry was sprawled on the bed in nothing but boxers, reading the new Defense book. Sirius' eyes couldn't help but take in that nicely toned firm body. It was—the pull—yeah, it was there. Strong as hell, too! This wasn't something he hadn't seen before, of course, but this time it hit him. Especially when Harry looked at him. The glamour he used was down, so he saw the full extent of the extras Harry had. Though some might have found that frightening, he didn't. He found it more exciting.Sighing, trying to keep it under control, he plopped on the bed. Getting comfortable and putting a hand on Harry's head, rubbing it, he said, “We're finally alone. And I mean completely! Remus is spending the night over with Tonks. They mentioned something about warding, but I think that's just bunk. More like having some fun.”Snickering at that as he marked the page in his book and set it aside, Harry then curled up to Sirius with a sigh. Shutting his eyes, feeling better already, he said, “Probably! They both smell like those in school that are playing the whole predator and prey bit, one chasing the other. Trust me, Remus has the predatory smell on him. Tonks—the prey smell is there, but it's more of the kind of prey that wants to be caught.”Laughing at that, Sirius gave him a squeeze and reached up to rub around one of his horns. “I think it's more like a mating dance with Remus finally getting in step with it than like someone stalking his prey.”“Nope,” Harry grinned, leaning into Sirius hand as that felt good. The horns always had a mild itch around them as they were still growing. When Sirius did this, it felt wonderful. His tail starting to thump on the bed softly, he explained, “The smell was always there, trust me. And strong. Remus is very much the predator in this and always has been. He was just trying to lure her in the right way. She's loving it, too, though she gets exasperated with him over it.”Looking down at Harry, Sirius grinned, “I didn't know that! Here I thought I was going to have to give him several kicks in the arse to get him moving the right way. Best I leave it to him then, if he knows what he's doing.”“He does, trust me,” Harry snickered.“Tell me, in this bit with us, do I have the predator or prey smell? I feel a bit more like the prey most times with you.” Grinning, he added as a joke because some of the rumors that floated around the school about Harry, “After all, you're the wicked one and evil, that's a divine lover. At least that's what we've heard. That and how you play innocent to trick them in then pounce.”Snorting at that, rolling his eyes, Harry groaned, “More crap that I have no idea where it came from. Who knows anymore!”Looking up at his godfather, Harry leaned into his neck and took a good sniff. While he really didn't need to do that to answer Sirius' question, he loved the smell anyway as it was comforting and arousing at the same time. Resting his head on Sirius' shoulder, he said, wanting to drink in the smell a tad longer, “You're the predator in this. Definitely. Very strong smell of that. Probably more than Remus'.”Rolling Harry over, now completely ignoring the fact that he wasn't going to do this and wanted to hold out until the whole mess ended, Sirius looked down at him, a wicked grin on his face. “I guess that makes you my prey, huh?” Leaning down, he kissed Harry softly. They'd done this before, of course, and had some wicked damned snogging sessions, something he loved. That forked tongue of Harry's felt amazing when it danced with his.“Always have been,” Harry told him, gazing up at Sirius. Reaching up with a slightly trembling hand, ignoring the throb in his boxers, he ran his claws through Sirius' hair.Unable to pull his eyes away, Sirius gazed into Harry's. Yeah, all right, fuck the holding off. Not only was the connection screaming for him to get on with it, his cock was throwing in some hearty lobbying for that as well. Even though his mind was telling him to hold off, he wasn't going to. Leaning down again, he kissed Harry once more, far more passionately this time. When he broke it off, just after their tongues began to dance, he panted, “Don't give a shite what the rumor mill says; your innocence is mine. Always has been. And I'm about to take it.”Grinning at that, Harry nodded, “Always was, Sirius. Wouldn't have gone to anyone else. I don't care what they thought on the matter. ““Of course,” Sirius told him, starting to breathe heavier. “My demon boy. If you're going to be a sinner like so many proclaim the incubus to be, I'm doing it right along with you.” That was now a joke with them, the demon boy bit. Harry no longer felt that way about himself, but Sirius had taken to calling him that when alone. As Harry loved it, he went with it.Leaning down and kissing Harry again, Sirius let a trembling hand run down over Harry's chest. Making sure to ghost over his nipples, pinching them softly, something that caused Harry to arch up off the bed, making him moan into his mouth, Sirius then let his hand trail further down Harry's torso until he reached the boxers. With a trembling hand, Sirius then let his hand wander over the obvious erection Harry had. Feeling it throb under his light touch and Harry shiver, making his godson cling to him, he figured it was time. Might as well go all out because he couldn't take much more.Breaking off the kiss, Sirius gazed down at Harry. For the first time, he could see some red in his eyes. Knowing that wasn't anything to worry about, he figured it was coming from the arousal. Good. Sitting up with a groan, he summoned the lube then dropped the small bottle of it by them on the bed. Quickly stripping out of his clothes, he then eased Harry's boxers off of him. Oh yes, he was at the point of no return. And he rightly didn't give a fuck.Locking his mouth down on Harry's once more, he let his tongue slip inside. Being careful of the sharp fangs, though his tongue flicking against them just once, he then felt Harry's wrap around his own once more. As they did that and he relished the moans Harry was making, he slipped between his godson's legs. Grabbing the lube, he managed to get some on his fingers then slid them down between them and began to toy with the tight pucker of Harry's arsehole.Swallowing the moans Harry was making, he then eased a finger in slowly. Twisting it slightly, he began thrusting it just a tad when it was finally all the way in.Arching up at the feeling of being breached for the first time, Harry broke off the kiss. Clutching onto Sirius, he groaned, eyes going shut. All he could get out was a stammery, “Oh, Merlin!” There was nothing in his vocabulary that could articulate how good this felt. Nothing. While there was a burn there, it wasn't bad and the other feelings more than made up for it!Thrusting his finger harder, Sirius added a second. Watching Harry's face, and the pleasure there, he couldn't help but groan. That was making his cock throb harder, something he hadn't thought possible. The fact that Harry was enjoying what he was doing was the biggest fucking turn on in the world.Sliding the third in, he twisted them around for a minute, wanting to press on, but forcing himself to wait. While the first time would hurt a little, when it came to taking someone's innocence, he wanted to make it as minimal as possible.Bucking down on the fingers in him, clinging to Sirius, feeling the hair on his back and tail stand on end, Harry begged, “Please, Sirius! I want you!” While he was apprehensive, something natural, he wanted to feel Sirius in him, now! He would deal with whatever pain came from it.Moaning loudly at that, Sirius didn't argue. If this was what Harry wanted, he would get it. Slipping his fingers out, he then grabbed the lube with a shaking hand and dumped some in his palm. Reaching down, he stroked his cock a few times, making sure it was nicely coated. When he was sure and knew he had to let go or he was going to finish the act before it began, he then pulled Harry's thighs up onto his knees. Leaning over, he kissed Harry again, this time far more roughly and animalisticaly. As their mouths were locked, he rubbed the head of his cock over Harry's arsehole then began to slowly ease it in. While Harry stiffened slightly, he didn't pull back or break off the kiss. As that was a good sign, Sirius kept easing it in until the head was past the tight ring of muscle. Letting the shaft slide in, he stopped when he was completely buried in that tight arse.Holding still, despite the urge to thrust, he propped himself up on one elbow and let the fingers of that hand entwine in Harry's thick, black hair. Gazing into Harry's eyes, seeing the look on his face, he groaned himself. Oh that was fucking fantastic! It was then he began to thrust. It was slowly at first, making sure not to cause Harry pain, but it was there. As Harry began to moan louder, his arms wrapping around him, blunted claws digging in slightly, he began moving faster. Leaning down, he nibbled on Harry's neck, grunting softly as his hips moved faster. Now, Harry had wanked plenty of times, especially in the last year, but nothing he had done had come close to what he was feeling right now. Nothing. It was—there was no real way to describe it, honestly. All he knew was that it felt amazing. There was a slight burn, of course, at first, but the sensations began to shoot out to his whole body, making it throb madly and his cock twitch. Lifting his legs, he wrapped them around Sirius' waist and began to rock down on the cock embedded in his arse. Panting heavily, clinging to Sirius, he began to mutter 'oh, Merlin,' over and over. All the hair on his body standing on end, his eyes slid shut as every nerve seemed to tingle, setting his skin on fire. The faster Sirius moved, the more on fire Harry felt. Rocking harder on the cock in his arse as Sirius thrust faster, he began to let out some kind of soft keening sound, something that seemed more like it would come from an animal. Fangs digging into his lip so hard he could taste blood, Harry gripped onto Sirius tightly with one arm then reached between them to stroke his own cock. Panting through clenched teeth as his cock throbbed and twitched madly in his hand, he finally managed to stammer out, “Gonna come!”Thrusting harder and faster, Sirius lifted his head and looked at Harry. The expression on his face, how flushed he was, the sweat matting his hair to his head—all of it was about the most arousing thing he could have ever imagined. “Yes,” was the only thing he could manage to get out. Grinding into Harry's arse, he tried desperately to keep himself under control.Grunting and grinding on the cock as it ground into him, Harry then arched up. Tail stiffening and the end twitching, he let out a strangled cry then came, splattering Sirius' chest with it. Eyes shut, he grinned at the amazing feelings that seemed to encompass his whole body, making it rock and throb madly.Head going back as that tight arse clamped around his cock then began to spasm, Sirius let out a loud groan then came as his whole body seemed to twitch from the overload of sensations. Hips still thrusting somewhat, he rode out the amazing feelings. As those continued, he could feel another, stronger, sensation wrap around him then he felt it connect to Harry, allowing the sensations his godson was feeling to meld with his own. The bond was complete.
Holding the sleeping Harry later, Sirius laid there looking up at the ceiling. Though there was some guilt over finally consummating it, he found there probably wasn't as much as he thought there should be. While this would take Harry with him if he died, and vica versa, it felt right and he felt better than he had in a long time. So, as there was nothing that could undo it, he was going with it. All that meant was that any arsehole that thought they wanted to go after Harry was in for a fight that they wouldn't win.
Looking down at his sleeping godson, Sirius smiled. Reaching out and tracing one finger down the side of his face, he nodded. Fuck it. It was done, and he would go with it. And enjoy every minute of it in the process.Epilogue

Tossing another horrifically written essay on the pile that he had finished, Harry leaned back on the settee he was sprawled on then groaned, rubbing his hands over his face. “Please tell me why I'm doing this? My brain is melting!”
“Because your official title is my teaching assistant, which means you get the shite jobs. That includes grading papers.” Sirius snickered, going over some bits for his lesson plan.“You're evil, you know that right?” Harry groused, shaking his head.“Been told that plenty of times before, including by you,” Sirius chuckled, tossing his quill down then leaning back with a groan. “Give it another couple of years and you'll be up with me on it.”“And you'll still make me grade these nightmares,” Harry snorted, shaking his head.“Probably,” Sirius laughed, lacing his fingers behind his head. Looking at Harry, he smiled. This was good.It was the year after Harry graduated from Hogwarts and he had taken him on as an assistant so they could stay together. The war had ended the spring of Harry's seventh when Voldemort was foolish enough to try to attack Hogwarts after he failed to take the Ministry. It was a fatal error on his end. The Horcruxes, all but Nagini, had been found and destroyed not long before that, so he had been weakened enough to end it. Nagini had been killed by Luna, amazingly enough, by her throwing a vial of Basilisk venom on the snake. Where she got it they didn't know, but it worked and the snake was dead. Voldemort himself died at the hands of his own killing curse. He had shot one at him, Harry, Luna, Neville, Ron and Hermione. All of them had conjured shields, but Sirius had been sure it wouldn't have saved them. Until Harry conjured his. Because he was in danger and the bond that was there, Harry had somehow tapped into his incubus magic and conjured a shield that was unlike anything any of them had seen before. All he knew was it was black. It had bounced it right back at the evil git and got him. Poetic justice if there ever was any. And the war was over. The Ministry took up hunting down the remaining Death Eaters, but their world was safe once more. After that, things changed, of course. Harry and his friends graduated. Hermione moved on to work in the Magical Creatures division to change laws. Ron had gone into Auror training. Luna and Neville had married shortly after that with him then going to work for the Ministry in their official greenhouse. Remus had also gotten a job in the Ministry, in the Magical Creatures section as well. He was a liaison with werewolves, something he adored. That made Sirius happy, really. His old friend was the first werewolf ever to work in the Ministry and it was at a job he loved. They hadn't known what Harry wanted to do as so many options were out because of the bond and other things. So, in the end, Harry decided to become his assistant teacher until the two year mark of apprenticeship ended. Then he would take up the mantle of co-Defense teacher. That way the two of them could be together. It worked perfectly as far as both of them were concerned. Besides, Harry was excellent at Defense, so the students would get the best education anyone could imagine.Leaning over in his chair and kissing Harry softly, Sirius said, “I vote we both take a break before the brain cells start to die. What do you say we retire to the bed for a while and you can use that sinful tongue of yours for better things than talking, Demon Boy.”Grinning at that, Harry stood with a groan then stretched. Heading towards their quarters, he called over his shoulder, “Come on, you flea bitten mutt, let me teach you to speak in tongues.”“Arf, arf,” Sirius said, standing and trailing along.Life was good, for both of them. Despite the suffering they both went through over the years, they were happy. And that's all that mattered to Sirius. They would continue to be so as well. James might have done this to protect his son, but his old friend had made a choice that gave both him and Harry something they adored. As he made his way towards the bedroom, following the trail of clothes Harry left in his wake, Sirius reminded himself to thank James for the gift he had given him when his time finally came. Because he wouldn't change any of this for the world!
