Ginny Potter sat back in her office chair lost in her thoughts. Today not even the tasteful décor of her office at Spa de l’Afrique could distract her from her musings. As she stared unseeingly at the vibrant colours of the original artwork adorning the walls her thoughts led her to only one conclusion. She knew now what she needed to do! She jumped to her feet, the golden highlights in her long red hair glinting as the sunlight from the open window caught her movements. She strode over to the concealed planning board her business partner insisted on installing and pulled it out, grabbed a magic marker and started to scribble furiously across the board.
An hour later she stood back and grinned gleefully, absent mindedly tossing her hair back over her shoulder – yes! This was the way to a win-win solution. She giggled out loud as the private floo entrance behind her activated and her husband Harry swooped into the room and hugged her from behind.
“What’s all this?” he asked curiously nodding towards the board. “And why do you have marker smudges on your hands and face?
Ginny swung around into his arms and danced a little jig where she stood.
Harry went pale, pulling slightly back. “Oh no! Please don’t tell me this is another of your schemes to match make for Hermione!” He shook his head forlornly “Come on Gin, you know what happened the last time I got pulled into one of your plans.” Harry rubbed his shoulder while feeling a reflexive sting from the hex his best friend had cast at him in anger the last time his wife had tried to set Hermione up with an Australian wizard, Justin, who had been visiting with her brother Charlie.
Ginny had been convinced they would be a good match – Justin was smart, quick thinking and worked with the more intellectual side of what the dragon sanctuary in Romania required. Unfortunately it had been Harry’s job to invite Justin for drinks when he knew Hermione would join them at the pub. Unfortunately it had been Harry’s fault when Justin had suggested that Hermione meet him in the Gent’s Loo for a “quick ride on his broomstick”. And that meant that unfortunately Harry had been the one that needed help getting to St. Mungo’s and staying there for over 3 weeks while the mediwitches worked like mad to attempt to reverse the inventive wordless hex Hermione had cast on the hero of the Wizarding World, leaving his arms and legs useless and his favourite appendage in disrepair for a further 4 months thereafter!
“Why can’t we just trust that Hermione will find her own love in her own time?” He pleaded as he planted soft kisses down the side of Ginny’s face to her pale slender neck.
Ginny groaned in delight and leaned her head to the side to give him more room. Harry pressed on, hoping that he would be able to distract his delectable wife. As he licked her pulse point, Ginny squirmed and reached down to his belt buckle. Harry slowly raised his wand behind her back, but before he could erase the careful planning, Ginny pushed him over and laughed as she teasingly said, “It’s backed up to my planner drawer my love… Or did you forget how organised Hermione likes to be?”
Harry lay on the floor, supporting his head on one hand and hung his head with a wry smile, his perpetually messy black hair falling across his forehead just the way Ginny loved it.
Ginny joined him, sitting cross legged and waved airily at the board. “Hermione deserves to be as happy as we are Harry. I see the longing in her eyes when she sees us together, she needs somewhere to belong, something that makes her smile all the way to her soul,” She paused as she gently raised her hand and caressed his cheek longingly. “Look! Just look! This time it’s a perfect plan!”
Ginny leaned forward to kiss Harry, and the picture she had imported into the planning document showed a swish of black billowing robes as the man in question strode away in disdain.

A few hours later found Ginny at her desk tying a scroll of parchment to the leg of the office owl. She rubbed his head gently and whispered the delivery address to the magnificent bird just as her business partner and dearest friend strode into the room while removing her work jacket. It was the same jacket that all administerial staff wore; a soft dove grey with the merest hints of emerald green and deep red showing when in certain lighting. It brought out the chocolate brown of Hermione’s eyes and matched nearly every skin tone. The treatment therapists wore a slight variation of the same, except in a more Chinese wrap-around design with softer material so that they could work more easily.
The planning board magically cleared and started to pack itself away as Hermione stood there glancing around curiously. “Ginny, since when do you actually use the planning board? And why are you using our management owl when you have always favoured the regular staff owls?”
Ginny ducked her head to hide her smile as the owl took off through the open window, the slight spring breeze gently blowing her feathers and Ginny’s hair out in a small fan.
“Well, I decided to take your advice from our last staff meeting. I have sent off an owl to our new Potions supplier to see if they are up for a challenge. Just as you asked.”
She mentally rubbed her hands together as Hermione was searching for words.
“Really?” Hermione answered slowly, drawing out each syllable as she leaned carefully against Ginny’s desk. “And what, pray tell, is this challenge all about exactly?” She absent mindedly started tidying Ginny’s habitually messy desk. Growing up as the only girl in a house of boys meant that Ginny didn’t really notice a bit of untidiness here and there. It made it easier living with one of the leading Aurors and an enthusiastic part-time quidditch player too.
Ginny raised an eyebrow at Hermione as she sat back, looking all too satisfied with herself. “If I told you that now then what type of business partner would I be? Let me discuss it with them first and I will let you know once there is something to report back on.”
Hermione slowly stood up and moved towards her own desk on the other side of the room. As she eased into the comfortable yet stylish office chair she glanced back over at Ginny as if trying to read her mind. She considered her friend carefully wondering if Ginny was up to something again. She could see the stunning woman trying hard not to smile as she pretended to check over the staff schedules for the late afternoon rush. As her brain ticked through all the options, she noticed something out of place.
“Ginny!” Hermione scolded as she jumped back out of her chair, “Did Harry visit you here today?” She groaned as she shook her head. Ginny looked up guiltily, the shining light of pleasure still twinkling in her eye. “What makes you say that?” She said innocently.
“Your blouse buttons are done up wrong and one is missing,” Hermione moved quickly from behind her desk to just in front of the fireplace, “It’s here on the floor… ah man! Not again in the office Ginny! How many times do I need to tell you guys…”
Ginny managed to look guilty while still trying to stifle her grin. She looked up through her bangs at Hermione.
Hermione sighed heavily, “Just because you have such a glorious sex life is no reason to show off Gin.” Hermione moved back towards her desk again, not realising how naturally she glided across the room, her hips swaying beautifully under the black knee length skirt she wore. Ginny cleared her throat, mentally pushing her plans away to the back of her mind, “Yes right! Sorry! It won’t happen again.” Hermione had no idea that the button was a plant to throw her off.
Hermione’s face softened as she turned to look at her friend and caught a dreamy look flitting across her expressive features, “At least not again this month hey Gin?”
The two women shared a giggle as the tawny owl reappeared at the window, hopping over to Ginny’s desk. Ginny untied the scroll and gave the bird a treat before sending it on its way back to their office owlry. As she opened the scroll to read she laughed out loud before steeling her features and standing up. She grabbed her travelling robe and handbag and waved in Hermione’s direction. “Oh! I gotta go sweetie. Remember that I’m not in tomorrow – got that publicity thing with Harry at the Ministry mid-morning. And by the way, please keep next Friday afternoon open for the new product testing. Must dash! Bye!”
And with that she swooped through the floo, leaving Hermione confused and worrying her bottom lip with her teeth as she wondered exactly what her friend was up to now.
