What happens when Fire meets Ice? Ice melts.
// means thoughts and ** or bold typing is for stressed words
Dedication: Hmmmmm. This is for Princess ( the Remus) Minerva ( the Peter) and Judy ( the James) from me, Kitten ( the Sirius). You are as insane as I. I know how much you love Charlie, Princess and you keep complaining that there isn’t enough slash fic about him. I personally prefer Bill but whatever. Lol. I hope everyone who reads this enjoys it. I’m going into some psychological stuff I never knew I could touch upon in the next few parts, but I’ve thrown away all shame at this point.
//So they think I’m afraid, do they? I don’t see either of them out here tonight. That’s fine. I’d rather do this alone. Once I’m back inside with my proof they’ll feel like the idiots they are. Why do I bother wasting my time with them? I really don’t see any point to it. They’re both quite dumb and extremely boring.
//All I have to do is bring something back to prove I went through with their ridiculous dare. This lantern doesn’t give off much light. It’s going to be hard to find something to use as proof. Then again, I could bring back a leaf and the two of them would think it a dragon scale if I told them it was. They believe everything I say, the stupid gits.
//I can’t believe I’m in the Forbidden Forest, at night, looking for the rumored injured dragon instead of being back in my dorm asleep. Damn tree branches! I’ve nearly tripped over several now. This is insane. I should just pick up anything, go back to the dorm and make up some story to tell the two of them tomorrow morning.//
‘ Whoa, what the—’ Draco’s sentence was cut off by a loud yelp as he tripped over a fallen tree branch and fell to the ground, his knee slamming into a rock in the process. The Slytherin sat up and flinched in pain. His dark blue jeans were torn at the knee and turning red from the blood seeping quickly through his skin. ‘ Damn.’ Draco whispered as he widened the tear to view the damage of his fall.
The cut wasn’t deep but it stung badly. Draco attempted to move his leg to get a better view of the wound but stopped quickly when a sharp pain shot trough his calf and thigh. //Oh. Great. This is just great! Now what the Hell am I going to do?// Standing was out of the question. There would be no way that Draco would be able to walk back to school like this. He knew he couldn’t just sit there and wait to be prey for some slobbering creature.
‘ Damn you Gregory! Damn you Vincent! This is all your fault!’ Draco yelled as he slammed his fist into the ground. ‘ Ow! Fuck!’ Draco shook is hand in an attempt to ease the pain in his knuckles. //There are too many rocks out here.// The aggravated Slytherin rubbed his fist and frowned.
‘ What are you doing out here?’ Draco turned in the direction of the voice and jumped, causing him to yelp in pain again as his knee moved. Standing beside the young boy was a man Draco hadn’t seen before but knew instantly from his looks who he was.
‘ Leave it to me to be found by a Weasley.’ Draco frowned looking from the man’s fiery red hair to his pale freckled face. Draco could remember overhearing the youngest Weasley brag about her older brother working with dragons. //That fool Dumbledore must have brought him here to work with that thing stuck in the forest. I guess the rumors are true. That should make it easier to bring back some kind of proof.// Draco had forgotten about the pain in his leg and attempted to stand.
The man raised an eyebrow in confusion. ‘ What the Hell do you mean by that?’ He stepped closer to Draco. Draco looked up to meet the man’s eyes with his own in a cold stare. The Weasley was about a foot taller than the young Slytherin and he didn’t like that advantage the older man had over him. ‘ Who are you?’
‘ Draco Malfoy, and who are you?’ Draco replied, flipping his silver-blond hair out of his face with an ivory, feminine hand. The man’s eyes opened wide before narrowing in anger. Draco returned the stare with the same intensity. //What’s his problem, then?//
‘ Charlie Weasley. Hm, Draco Malfoy. So you’re the little prick that’s been giving my brother a hard time.’ He glared at Draco. The young Slytherin moved forward in an attempt to push past Charlie. Unfortunately Draco had forgotten his injury and only managed to stumble in pain, crashing into the older man with a soft whimper of pain.
‘ Your hurt.’ Charlie stated flatly. He had managed to catch Draco, keeping the boy from falling painfully to the ground. Charlie’s arms were tightly around the pale boy’s shoulders, holding him up.
‘ Obviously. Now leave me alone.’ Draco snapped. He wasn’t in the mood to deal with a Weasley. To Draco they were all the same. They were all low class annoying little gits.
‘ You actually expect to make it back to school like that?’ Charlie asked, slight concern in his deep voice. Draco pushed himself out of the older man’s arms and leaned back against the tree trunk behind him.
‘ I’ll be fine!’ Draco spat, his expression blank and unreadable.
‘ That isn’t very convincing Malfoy.’ Charlie pulled Draco to a standing position, holding the young boy up with an arm around his back. Draco jumped, startled. The boy yelped in pain as he moved and closed his eyes tightly. Charlie sighed softly, shaking his head. ‘ Come on, let’s get you fixed up.’
‘ I don’t need your help Weasley.’ The Slytherin growled. Charlie stifled a laugh. With an arm behind the boy’s back and one behind his knees, Charlie lifted Draco with ease. Draco struggled slightly but only succeeded in causing himself more pain. //What the Hell does he think he’s doing?//
‘ So you think I should leave you alone here?’ As Charlie spoke a low growl came from behind some nearby shrubbery. Draco jumped, wincing in pain once more. The young boy grabbed Charlie’s shirt and buried his face in the man’s chest. ‘ That settles it. Let me get you fixed up and then I’ll take you back to school.’ All Draco could do was nod, eyes shut tightly and face still hidden.
The two walked for what seemed like nearly an hour to Draco. Every movement of his body sent sharp pains through his injured leg and he felt quite embarrassed to be in this situation. //Why him? I’d rather be found by Hagrid than a Weasley. At least then I’d know what his intentions were. Hagrid would do anything to finally get me in trouble. But this Weasley—what is he planning to do?// Finally they came to Charlie’s campsite. There was a simple tent and some partially charred wood a few feet from the entrance.
Charlie ducked into the tent, placing Draco down gently once they were safely inside. ‘ I’ll be right back. I have to go get the first aid kit.’ Charlie smiled warmly at Draco. The young boy just nodded. He wanted out of there. His worst nightmare had come true. Draco Malfoy was alone out in the woods, where no one knew he was, with a Weasley. This couldn’t end well.
Draco tried moving again. The pain had gotten worse and the young Malfoy began to think that something might be broken. //How am I going to explain this one?// Draco sighed and leaned back against the tent wall. His eyelids felt heavy and he allowed them to drift shut.
Charlie Weasley returned, first aid kit in hand. He was surprised to see Draco asleep. //He doesn’t look like such a stuck up little snot while he’s asleep. He actually looks…normal.// Charlie shrugged and knelt beside the sleeping boy.
Cautiously, Charlie placed a hand on Draco’s injured leg. The boy whimpered but did not wake up. //I’ll have this fixed in no time. Then I’ll take him back.// With his other hand, Charlie opened the first aid kit and took out what he needed.
First, Charlie tore Draco’s already ripped jeans enough to see the wound clearly. Draco was bleeding profusely, making it difficult to see the actual cut. Charlie carefully cleaned the cut, wiping away the blood with the formerly white cotton balls. Draco whimpered again from the sting of the chemicals Charlie had used.
Charlie wrapped a white gauze bandage around Draco’s leg. //He should be fine now.// Charlie shook the boy lightly. ‘ Malfoy, wake up.’ He said gently. Draco moaned softly and opened his eyes. The young boy looked around with an expression of confusion for a moment before sitting up quickly.
‘ Come on, time to go.’ Charlie helped Draco stand. The pain in Draco’s leg had dulled but it still stung. The young boy was forced to limp out of the tent, leaning on Charlie for support. They walked in silence, Draco stumbling a few times only to be helped again by Charlie.
Once outside the school Charlie stopped and looked down at Draco and smiled. Draco looked up at Charlie and sighed. ‘ I, uh, thank you.’ Draco’s eyes couldn’t meet Charlie’s. Instead they focused on the ground in front of the taller man.
‘ Call me Charlie.’ Charlie whispered, pulling Draco closer with the arm he had draped across the boy’s shoulders. //Maybe he’s not as bad as Ron said. That boy does like to exaggerate.//
‘ Then call me Draco.’ Draco blushed and smiled.
