just stumbled on your story and read it in one sitting! I have always been a Harry/cho fan and there are truly not enough stories out there with this pairing. Though the story may have started off somewhat disturbing I loved the ending. Can't wait for the sequel!

Hey Mewtwo, glad you listened to yourself and read the story, I really appreciate it! I did just want to comment on what you said about writing characters in an angsty hole. I know when I'm writing the emotion in a scene or what have you, I have to feel it at that moment so it could flow easier from me. And I almost feel just as trapped as I've made the characters if thats what they are feeling. I wrote a story for another site where Harry and another person were trapped in Grimmauld place for almost a month, trapped meaning he was not allowed outside for getting caught and the person decided they'd stay with him. But when I finally got them to so much as go to a wedding, I felt so free!lol It hurts me to read sections of that story because I feel like clawing the walls to get out!lol And like in this story, I was tense when it came to referring to everyone coming back to the castle after the holiday break. I wanted Harry and Cho to be alone forever!
Anyway, thanks for reading it, sorry for the rambling. Hope you enjoy the sequal when I finish it!

My god...,it took me a week and a half to finish this thing! I kept avoiding reading this story at first, but it kept calling me. I'm glad I listened.

I can believe that Harry is insaine. If we are to believe canon then he's had a fragment of Voldemort's soul almost all his life. There has to be some effect of having a piece of a mad man's soul inside of you.

Then only bad thing about this story is that it was an Ron/Hermione fic. They just don't fit together. I prefer Ron/Luna with either Harry/Hermione or Viktor/Hermione is Harry is with a deserving female that isn't Ginnie.

Yes, I want there to be a sequel, no matter how short it is. This was just good all round. If I were to even make an attempt at writings characters in the angsty hole you put them in I couldn't get myself nor the characters out of said hole.

this Mewtwo will wait on the sequel.

I can honestly say that I have never read any of your reviews before this story. I used to be a huge H/Hr shipper back in the day, but I've recently found that the ship gets on my nerves more than anything else. I'm actually working with someone on writing a fanfiction guide to Harry Potter that covers all of the points that annoy me (and the main author) about Harry Potter fanfiction stories. We haven't got into characterizations yet, but it will be covered eventually. Right now we are focusing on Magic v. Muggle (well he is doing most of this section), it is around 3000 words just on this one topic though, and we aren't even done yet. That will be the first chapter of the guide. If he ever gets around to finishing the first chapter I'll send you a link to it if you are interested in it or I'll post it in a review on here. Anywho, I'm glad to see there are more sane people in regards to Draco. He is always insanely out of character in 98% of all fanfiction stories. Well, bye for now, I need to get back to packing.

Jake, have you been following me around reading my HP discussions? Seriously, it's nice to come across someone who seems to share all of my salient views on the books vs. fanfiction. You should go read my comments on Draco in the reviews for Bound By Duty, from SoftObsidian. You summed up exactly how I feel about his character in your opening.

    Oh, and
Isn't that annoying to anyone else?
Yes, it is. I never cared much for the Weasleys, either. Molly bugged the shit out of me, the twins just grated on my last nerve, Percy was meant to be an insufferable git, Bill and Charlie weren't around enough to mean much, Ginny was a loud-mouthed bitch, and Ron...poor Ron, why was it necessary to write him as a dunderhead? There were a lot of personality traits that she wrote for him that were undeniably appropriate for the last male child born in a massive brood, but there was no need to make him that stupid. I thought JKR's writing of the Weasley's and their actions were awful all around. It was only when I started to read fanfiction that I started to develop some affection for Harry's jealous sidekick. You could say the same about Ginny. Authors who really enjoyed their characters were able to re-write them in such a way that I could see what might have been.

    Have fun moving.

Ugh, Draco is a childish little boy with delusions of grandeur. When was he ever really a rival to Harry? Harry always easily out does him in everything, and if people would have listened to Harry Draco would have never been able to sneak death eaters into the castle. Draco is a spoiled little kid and nothing more. I mean I can understand why people would like Draco if he was anything like they try to make him out to be in fanfiction, but he just isn't. I can't figure out where people get the characterization of him in fanfiction. They try to make him a cool kid, but in all honesty the only kids who look up to him are in his house where he survives only through money and a family name.

As for the Hermione thing, I mentioned that I didn't like the ship that terribly much either, but I think it made more sense then any other potential ship in canon. Harry/Cho while it had potential was rendered impossible by the 5th book. Luna would have been a fun choice as well, but it is way too hard to write her, and 99% of all fanfiction authors fail at writing her character so I don't particularly like that pairing in fanfiction. Fleur, however, is a hot, smart, and very talented young witch who happens to be French which is always a plus so it makes the perfect pairing as far as my fanfiction tastes. Also, did you know that statistically the ship with the most well written number of fics is Harry/Fleur? It is true, and it is something that was pointed out to people by a man who really wasn't a fan of Harry/Fleur. I was stunned that I never thought of it before because the amount of quality fanfiction in that ship is insanely high.

Onto Ginny, I disagree with your opinion of her twocanz. She never really got over that fangirl feel because even when she said she no longer had a crush on Harry no one really believed her. She just seemed to get a little more confident around him is all. She also seemed to flaunt her relationships around him and her brother for that matter which I found to be annoying in addition to all of my previous comments about her. I think the Weasleys in general where horrible. I never understood why the stories weren't named after that family. Bill is described as being the coolest male in canon with an awesome job that requires a lot of skill and intelligence to preform not to mention he marries Fleur. The twins have the best joke shop around, Ginny marries Harry and is a professional quidditch (spelling? it is late), Ron marries Hermione (smartest witch of her generation and really hot when she dresses up) and he is a chess genius who goes on to have a good career plus there was all of those times that Harry blindly forgives him for being a prick, and then there is Charlie who tames dragons. Let us not forget Molly and Arthur who become like a father and mother to Harry, or Percy who becomes very respected in the ministry. They basically become the best family in canon through talented kids, and kids who marry the most interesting characters in canon with the exception of Tonks who marries someone old enough to be her father, and Luna who also marries someone old enough to be her father (JKR said she married that guy who wrote Fantastic Beasts in an interview).

Isn't that annoying to anyone else? The Weasleys aren't that great which is why I'm a huge advocate of what I like to refer to as the paring from hell, Harry/Hermione/Fleur/Tonks. Can it get any better than that? I mean you have three girls Ron would be insanely pissed off to find Harry with all for different reasons, and you get to screw over Bill as well. Well, it is late, and I have to pack tomorrow because I'm moving Friday. ttyl

Hey, twocanz, your two cents is always good!

Yes, my biggest problem with Ginny was how predictable her romance with Harry became. It was the obvious choice, and I was already bored by it when I first saw the signs in CoS. HBP was a major disappointment for me on many levels, not only was it disheartening to see my suspicions confirmed that Ginny would indeed end up with Harry, but I was absolutely gutted that it wasn't Harry/Luna. In fact, Rowling all but ignored her in that book, and relegated Luna to a very minor character. I felt cheated. I thought Luna was one of the most interesting characters in the series and she would have most definitely been a *challenge* (yeah, that was important for me, too) for our Boy Hero. Instead, JK just turned her into an oddity for Harry. I mean, what was the point of her name, for crying out loud, if not to give us the idea of a love interest? What a waste.

I confess, though, that I can stand stories of the Harry/Ginny pairing when Luna is added in the mix. They make a lovely threesome, and the imagery suggested of Harry being surrounded by his "moon" and "sun" is endearing. Ginny could have been a much more dimensional character, she could have been a good foil for Harry's mood swings, but JK never gave her enough to do. Personally, I thought she performed character assassination on the girl by the sixth book.

Just wanted to add my 2 cents in about Ginny, too.

Personally, I like Ginny as a character I suppose. She became worthwhile to me in Order, when they were able to discuss things (his possession by Tom or lack there of) and her actions in the Ministry, all without her bubbling over into a fit of giggles because it's OMG!Harry Potter. But, it was still there the puppy love/crush whatever. I don't like her in a relationship with Harry. I mean, if they dated, then they broke, her just being a stop along to way to...I wish Cho, but alas, no...then that would have been fine. I don't like that she was so perfectly placed in his life. The little sister of his best friend; the baby of the family that's adopted him basically. That's just annoying. I know Harry doesn't need a challenge in his life, he's been through Hell and back...through Hell, but I needed a build up for his love life. He needed someone he went searching for, someone that will challenge him, someone not so heavily embedded in all he knew of the wizarding world (namily the Weasleys, Ron and Hermione, the Order, etc.). Ginny's involved in all that and she would have jumped on him at the moment he said Go; where's the challenge? At least with Cho, she was just so outside of that tightly knit world Harry was placed in once inside the wizarding world. She didn't look like anyone around him all the time, they had nothing in common except Quidditch (opposites I personally adore in relationships the challenge to learn from each other), Cho knew very little of what he had to do in his life. She was nothing but a pretty girl that he liked when he say her. Something so basic to the human soul, something so innocent, something so NOT dark, not Harry's world of Hell, something normal which Harry was not use too or allowed to have for too long.
And I know I'm a big advocate for Harry/Cho, but, although I'm not big on the Harry/Hermione pairing as discussed here, I would rather have him with her. She has depth as was pointed out, it would be a challenge even though she knows everything about his world. Even Luna has more going on for her than Ginny, she has depth, personality, she doesn't conform and a conversation with her is challenging enough.lol I'm not big on Harry/Luna either, but at least there's more going on there then with Ginny. Now as I've said before, I don't hate Ginny. In fact, I'd rather have her with my precious Draco then Harry (challenge), but I'd rather have Harry with Draco then I would Ginny...or Hermione...or Luna...and I'd let Cho watch the two boys, then join in!LOL

Btw, the dick, pussy, cock, cunt bit mentioned. I don't like cock...well the word at least. I just can't say it without having to take a breath and swallow. That's why I had, in this story, only a select few say it like Crabbe and Goyle, Vaisey and Marietta, because they were not so nice characters. However, it's not like I'd get turned off if i read it in a story. If a story is hot, I don't care what words they're using to make it so. Cunt never bothered me, I don't say it outloud, but I could with no issue. Dick and pussy I say on a regular bases!lol

    Jake--

but Ginny was written in such a way that I actively dislike the character because she comes off as nothing but a fangirl.

I hear ya. The scene where she belittles her brother over his lack of experience was horrific. Her voice, to me, was filled with so much venom, such vitriole, and in such a petulant manner, that her character never rebounded from that. I could only see her as this childish brat who spoke tough, but couldn't mask the fact that she was inconsequential in Harry's world. At that point in the story, I couldn't really figure out why a boy like Harry would find her personality even remotely attractive. I especially despised the fact that Ginny's constant rude remarks behind Fleur's back prompted some giggles from him. Up till then, we'd never seen the Boy Savior openly make fun of a character that didn't deserve it, so Ginny encouraged bad behavior, imo.

I like the idea that several writers have used in their fics whereby the "Monster" lurking in Harry's chest is explained away as a love potion. It came out of nowhere, after all, and his desire seemed to fixate on the purely superficial, like her hair, with little content directed towards her as a person. It certainly seems more plausible. Even if Rowling had gotten that little hellcat persona right, I don't think Ginny would have been a good match for Harry, anyway. Never mind the fact that she looked like his mother and was doomed to become her own, which makes the implications for Harry that much more disturbing, but she provided little towards his well-being other than being a means to give Harry a family and an occasional laugh. Even saying all that, I could still have seen this as a high school romance--it's not like Harry isn't allowed to be shallow every now and again---but to make it to a marriage? That was preposterous. In fact, the whole your-first-love-is-your-lifelong-mate message that the books had irked me to no end.

    @Salon Kitty

I know what you mean about taking out the Harry/Hermione bit. I mean the Harry and Ginny relationship could have easily been Harry/Rose with Rose being some completely unmentioned character in the book. She doesn't even have to be a major character in the book. I've seen skilled authors make people root for the main character to get a girl the people know nothing of except what the main character has thought about her. If Harry would have shown an interest sooner or Ginny had been written better then I wouldn't have minded it, but Ginny was written in such a way that I actively dislike the character because she comes off as nothing but a fangirl.

About the whole dick/pussy thing. I shall agree to an extent. I mean you sort of have to refer to it as a dick if you receive it in a box.....other than that I prefer for people to get creative. I mean for Harry Potter you can say magical wand, troll's club, broomstick, dong, rod, basilisk, toothpick (in the case of Malfoy), etc. I just enjoy things like that for a spice of humor in the right situation. I'd like to see a Harry Potter story with a character like The Todd off of Scrubs showing up in it. I can just imagine Draco or Ron hiding behind places waiting for a set up like a someone talking about Harry's second year adventure then Hermione steps in and says, "No, you are confusing his first year with his second year. The second year was the one with the giant snake." Then Draco or Ron pops out and says, "No, this is the one with the giant snake," while pointing to himself. Hogwarts really needs someone like The Todd running about methinks. It would give me something to read when I'm in the mood for pubescent humor. It reminds me of grade school back when there was a beta club, and I managed to trick a kid into yelling he wanted to be a masterbater when I told him they were a secret part of the beta club. We found it funny....he didn't because he got yelled at by a teacher and detention. :D

So, we've come to the end....sort of? I was going to suggest you do a sequel after this, once I realized where the story would end. It would be interesting to have a story where the conflict is outside of their relationship. Especially since Harry has gone through such a dark chapter in his life, bringing Voldemort back into his life would make for all sorts of dramatic upheaval and wrenching angst. I still see this link that was forged between Harry and the Eye-Slitted Wonder and it is worth being explored, if you feel up to it. Voldemort gleaning knowledge of Harry's insanity would surely give him pause on annihilation. Plus, Harry may have won the girl, but we know he's still very possessive of her. Having her threatened even slightly will surely send him over the deep end.

Anyway, I liked that at the beginning of the final chapter, you came full circle from the first by having Cho essentially rape Harry. It was poetic justice, of a sort.

I think PsychoIOU's quibbling over the overly applied "arse" in fanfic was amusing. I never mentioned it to you, but I really loathe the use of the word 'dick' in my porn. I always found the terms 'dick' and 'pussy' the language of 14 year olds trying to sound worldly. As an adult, I refer to a man's 'cock' and a woman's 'cunt' when I'm feeling blunt. But your story was so good, and the smut was so well described, ultimately, it didn't bother me terribly.

Thanks for a thoroughly engrossing story. It was quite a read. Give me a week to let me bask in the finale, and I will most definitely come back and beta the whole thing for you.

    To my boy Jake--

    I'm quoting you here:

This I think is one of the great problems in the Harry Potter series. Harry should have ended up with Hermione. I'm not even a huge H/Hr fan. I tend to favor Harry/Fleur and Harry/Tonks, but I think Hermione was the only person with a relationship with Harry that would make a relationship plausible not to mention her loyalty to him and the fact that she is quite possibly the only 3-D female character in the book. The rest of them are all flimsily written. I mean if JKR wanted it to be Harry/Ginny then she should have taken the opportunity after COS to develop Ginny's character, but she didn't, and it really takes something away from the books. Let us hope that JKR never tries her hand at a romance novel.

That is so acutely true. Believe me, you have a huge group of Harmony shippers echoing that very sentiment, but even without acknowledging the romance elements, one of JK's biggest criticisms is how weak her characterization of Ginny has been. After HBP, I agree that I found her writing really lacking in describing any kind of plausible romantic entanglements realistically. Harry and Ginny just made no sense, and JK threw away all kinds of opportunities to make that romance work in two books worth of drama. You're right, it really DOES take away from the series and it always annoyed me. I could have liked Ginny as a character if only Rowling had made the attempt to write her as a real person and not a device.

    YAY :)

very nice ending. I think it is funny how he may get to keep the weasleys in his life all because of cormac and ginny... even if it is kinda bullshit but then harry IS a rapist. whats one more little dark half-truth right? You know, in real life this kind of thing is unacceptable to say the least. you and I both know it, but somehow you managed to make us all root for harry and cho in the end. now THAT is the mark of an excellent writer.

and i do hope the short sequal is around 100 chappies :P

EXCELLENT WORK. i will be converting it into an E-book if you are interested. Send a msg to phoenixpc@roadrunner.com :)

    later!
