The slow dance was lovely. As my birthday was on the seventh, and my hubby was a continent away, I didn't expect much. But he sent me my dozen roses...and they're still blooming on my kitchen table. Not too shabby, eh? :D

I adored this chapter. This is such a beautiful journey of self-discovery, friendship and love: romantic, friends, self, etc. All our friends are beginning to realize that as well.

Dear Draco keeps stepping into the limelight doesn't he? It's funny, he's quiet but when you get him going, he's non-stop. I have to say, I thought he was going to give Hermione something special as a gift but I guess going in on something with Theo and Greg made sense. His idea of the ball was brilliant and I loved that Ginny gave him the credit. He too used to sitting in the shadows - he's so beautiful when the light shines on him. And Hermione is really seeing him in a new light.

Oh and Harry/Ron whispering to each other like gossiping hens after Draco's little speech was HILARIOUS.

Thank you for another beautiful chapter.

I know I've been a bad reveiwer.....but i just wanted to let you know I am thoroughly enjoying Hermione's birthday. I can't wait to see Draco's reaction when he sees her!! I only wish I could have birthdays like that!!

I'm hoping after the birthday we might see a bit more of Ron/Pansy interaction? I feel bad fro Pansy, she's trying so hard to be good, I just want to see her happy too. I don't always like the way she is portrayed, but I do like her in this story!

Your still doing a brilliant job!! Can't wait for more!!

    Love

First off I have to commend you on how you're writing Draco. Its like peeling off layers of paint on a wall only to find discover an original mural that showcases it's beauty and originality. Draco was once a beautiful little boy until he was covered up with the muck spouted by his father and his upbringing. And here he is struggling by himself to become a man that he can be proud of - these are truly defining moments for him. He has to find strength, character, virtue on his own, with no parental guidance or figure to look up too. He could have been lost but he choose the more difficult path. Hermione's mum senses that innately and I think her father understands and seeing the honesty in Draco's eyes pushed him in realizing that standing before him was a this young man trying to do the right thing. I think Herb and Draco might eventually become quite close.

The scene with Pansy had me in tears (thank you). I don't know why I didn't see it but of course Pansy is more nervous - she likes Ron and Molly is his mother. That one flew over my head completely - Molly's words cut more deeply than what anyone saw except for Ginny and Fleur, for different reasons of course. Fleur and Bill's kindness was touching. I suspect that Arthur would also have been kind if he hadn't had to deal with Molly. And Molly is a hothead isn't she? And I'm glad that you commented on her maternal instincts kicking in though she fought them off. But honestly, she was behaving so horribly by immediately jumping to conclusions. She was purposely looking for mistakes and only of the Slytherins. I think this is a case where the older generation could learn something from the younger ones: tolerance and compassion. I suspect there might be a bit more of the adults behaving this way as the day is not over.

Now Draco and Hermione - sigh. She's so girly all shy and stammering. I don't think she's ever felt that way and she was geniunely touched when she realized that Draco had gone native in Muggle London with no magic. That's a HUGE STATEMENT and she got it. Draco's speech was so mature - he's so caught up in his feelings and it's adorable to watch. Thank you for that pissed off "What" from him - glad to see sliver of his strong character when he was talking with Greg, only to realize that Daddy Granger was behind him. LOVED IT!

So will the gang get any time to themselves or will they be stuck with chaperones the whole day? Oh and Greg, my Greg - such a sweet tender heart, the girl that gets it will be so lucky. By the way, I'm loving Millie.

Awwww poor Greg, who'd have thought he could be such a sweetheart??? I love that he's willing to talk about Hermione with Draco to and that he was willing to step aside even if in his heart and mind, it was for her and not Draco. And it was also sweet of Draco to consider (briefly) stepping back and letting Greg follow his heart too even though it meant too much for him to do so.

Oh so I'm right about Millie, pretending not to have fun when she really is, obviously Pansy thinks so. LOL It would be interesting to see if their friendship strengthens too. And I'd be upset if Molly continued staring at me like that too. How slow am I? Of course Molly would be remembering how Pansy tried to give Harry up. She'd know all about that and Harry is just like another child to her the same way Hermione is. I so didn't pick that up in the last chapter. And Millie, in her own way, is trying her best to support Pansy which I like.

I'm not sure I want to know what's in those zoos - especially if they bother Luna. LOL And oh shit, there goes Molly. She would have been bursting to let rip since the moment she knew they were coming. But I LOVE LOVE LOVE that Ron was the first to support Pansy and told Molly she owed her an apology. Sure didn't see that coming!! I mean, I get where Molly is coming from and this anger is coming from a good place in her heart and she went through hell too in the way only a mother can but it's so misguided that I just want to shake her and tell her to snap out of it. And I loved that the mother in her wanted to comfort Pansy because she knew she'd upset her even though her heart wouldn't overrule her emotions. I so wanted Pansy to fall into Ron's arms and find the comfort she wanted but it's too soon for that (goshdarnit). I love that he cared enough to try and make her feel better though. And how hilarious that Ginny broke up the tension having a go at Fleur's pronounciation of her name.

LMAO Is Draco enjoying the ride???? Ya think!! The expression on her face when she realised Draco gave up magic for a day for her would have been priceless. I wish I could have seen it. More heart to heart between Greg and Draco - amazing and OMG to be overheard by her father - I don't know how to take that. I'm sure if Draco could have curled up and blown away then, he would have. And I love that, even though Herb has a better insight to Draco's feelings for Hermione, he was still layind down the law to Draco. I would have been disappointed if he gave up on his anger so easily. HJe's going to make Draco work for any respect Herb may, or may not give him. But as big and as scary as Herb comes across as, he'd be a meek little kitten where his wife and daughter are concerned so I am looking forward to how this all works out. :)

Yep, I FINALLY updated on a story so hope you enjoy it. :) I don't think any of the reactions where OTT, I think they were all perfect given the circumstances and I should have expected Molly to blow up but as I said before, I forgot about Harry and Pansy. I guess Ginny hs more of her father in there to get insight the way she does even if she does have Molly's temper. LOL I love a snarky Millie with a heart of gold, she's perfect and yes Ginny is a favourite of mine. :) You bloody tease telling me Draco has another stunning surprise in store for Hermione - sheesh!!!!! And no, sometimes dads just don't get it even if they are trying to do the right thing. As for the movies, well I thought anywhere it was dark and they could think they were alone and perhaps exchange a chaste kiss was going to be good for me. But speaking of chaste - what have you done to me? I'm a rush in where angels fear to tread kind of girl and you've got me hanging out and wishing for innocent kisses - bah humbug!! LMAO

Right, now that I've updated and got organsied, I can do the fun stuff of reading. :) I felt so sorry for Draco as he watched Hermione with her parents. You could see it dawn on him that there were people here who knew what a prick he had been to her, knew how much he had hurt her and that they represented the kind of beings that he once hated with a passion. He's got to know that she talked about him and now he has to sit there, with no chance of escape and wait and see how they will react to him once they know who he is.

Gotta love Hermione's mum right now. She heard so much more in that simple polite sentence then Draco would have liked, I'm sure of it. Especially the way she cut her husband off at the pass as he was about to let Draco know what he really thought of him. I'm quite impressed that Draco was going to stand there and take whatever he dished out too. And I really don't think Pansy regrets making him come to the day's events at all. I really don't think he's going to ruin her birthday (I sure hope not).

Ah and there's Ginny coming in to make peace and see in him more than he wants her to know either. I love that she's trying so hard to bridge the gap between them as well and once more she's showing her negotiations skills. I love everything she said to him. LMAO And now he knows Pansy's up to something too, doesn't he? Hee hee!!

How clever is Molly making that cake? She's a true matriach, isn't she? LOL What a sweet thing to do and I love that Hermione's mum found a true friend in her and that she had someone to confide in and talk to when she coudn't be there for Hermione. We gotta have our BFF's. :) But arrgh, I wish Molly had realised sooner that the Slytherins were trying to do the right thing by her and by Hermione. And finally we have 'take charge' Draco back as he took over the clean up crew and got everyone organised. Even Millie pitched in - I think she's loving everything much more than she wants to let on and pretending to be grumpy just had me cracking up laughing.

There they go again, Jean and Molly figuring it all out without being told a thing about 'their' little girl and the boy she's supposed to hate. LOL Daddy Granger ain't gonna like that at all. Although I do see they have a back up plan by thinking perhaps it's all a big con.
Love that they are going to go into muggle London, now I know what the overnight bags were for. LOL Fancy that being part of Draco's idea. Oh are they going to the movies and Draco and Hermione sit next to each other ?????? LMAO Sorry I was getting ahead of myself again.

Aww Draco and Jean had a moment - that was so sweet. Yep, Herb's gonna have a heartie when he sees that. It's good that he likes Theo, there's going to be a lot of placating and negotiating going on there, I'm sure. And I love that he's a dad who truly cares for his daughter and would face anything to keep her safe. I wish everyone had a dad like that. But OMG forbidding her to show interest in Draco!!!! Oh it just doesn't work like that. LOL Although I'm surprised at how switched on he was about Hermione liking him. A little crush huh? We'll just see about that. And why do you always stop just when things are getting interesting. LOL I wanna know if they're going to the movies to 'not see' a film. ;) LMAO

LMAO I use Merlin in everyday sentences too. I used to say Thank God but Thank Merlin comes out instead these days. LOL Less blasphemous if nothing else. You're right, Molly was very good at jumping to conclusions and excluding people because of it, I think Ron got that trait too. LOL Must agree, the fast learners/developers were certainly noticed more at school. Nope, you're not allowed to give away anything on the story for me, I'm enjoying this the way it is. I also left my details on your story on FFnet, hope you found it okay. :)

I re-read this chapter a few times before reviewing. There's alot going on here but I have to say the Hermione's mom is my hero. Her kindness to Draco in that moment in the pub was beyond touching. I think the adults forget that these are still young people with their whole lives ahead of them. They have all lived through terrible ordeals that have affected them. Why so hard to believe that they are incapable of changing? Learning is a lifetime experience so change is neverending. I think Hermione's mom realized that and I wanted to just hug her.

Also, you showed more of Draco in this chapter than you have in prior ones. His unease and uncertainty in himself and how he feels for this girl he so LIKES just gets you in the gut. Again, the image of clammy hands and probably sweaty under the collar springs to mind. I can just imagine the number of little looks he gives her every few minutes. Part of him wants to hug him while the other wants to ram her up against the wall and snog her into next month. I love watching him get his footing and clearing a new path that he's creating for himself. I'm glad that he won't totally lose part of his qualities (come on: smugly confident, domineering, possessive, slightly arrogant, a touch pratty Draco is SMEXY HOT - Hermione HAS to like some of that). Hmm, I cannot wait for him to ROCK HER LITTLE WORLD OFF OF ITS AXIS! She could do with a bit of that - ok ALOT of that.

Another wonderful chapter...I can't wait to see where you take them in Muggle London. The Eye, perhaps? Maybe the new Globe Theater? I agree with your other reviewers' comments about your characterizations. I, too, see Hermione as a more forgiving person than canon, and, just as her Mum said, what would draw her in more than a repentent, reformed Draco? :DEl

I wish there were words to convey the expression on my face - I don't know, giddyness, satisfaction, sympathy, and a touch of a Peter Pan "crow" added in at the beginning and end. At any rate, I your chapters always make me smile. I normally whiz through everything I enjoy reading, but I don't find myself resenting the forced patience for this story.

It's character-building on both ends, I suppose. :) You're doing great revealing different layers to the story at each turn, keeping the pace under control to give each of the characters the time they need to sort things out. It lets your audience explore all the personalities and ramifications in ways that I suppose many writers have to think about but don't normally hand over to their readers to enjoy.

You have a lot of talent - I'm sorry to hear you don't feel comfortable sharing this hobby with friends (though I totally understand, it takes a bit of context to enjoy this kind of thing) but I hope you're doing something else with your abilities that you *can* share publicly. Not that I want you to reduce your output here in any way - that would be unconscionable!
