It's hard to tell you what I think when nothing really happened...this was just exposition. Hermione is a pretty child who has a good childhood isn't substantial enough to for me to form a constructive opinion about your story. However, I will say that your sentences were lovely, and I really enjoyed the way they flowed easily from one to the next.

Is this a period piece? I like historical romances, so I'm curious.

great beginning! i would love to read more lots more and i do so hope that you will not just in too big a bounds in the story and write lots. i love long stories and i will love read this where ever you take it! a/u or not it will be lots of fun to read!!! :) post soon!

That was beautiful. A marvelous way to get the readers attention straight from the start, and the last line was suitably ominous too. Are dark times ahead? I'm looking forward to finding out.
