A/N:
Despite my best efforts to keep these word counts under control, this is the longest chapter thus far and each chapter will probably only be just as long as we continue. I can't find good spaces to break them up and the events flow together in such a way that the show must go on without me trying to create a new chapter lol. 11080 words Yikes!
That being said, everything in this story happens for a reason and every little detail counts lol. In the days that this story is waiting to be updated, it may help to re-read it a bit to pick up on all the things that are hinted at:)
On a different note, can I just admit that I have a summer course to complete by the 16th but I've been totally slacking because AMMIC is so much more interesting lol. I've been writing this instead of finishing my Econ which i really need to do because I'm graduating this semester lol. I'll have to take some time to get that going but will continue to do my best with the 3 to 4 day updates, but if it takes a bit longer thats why;)
After the 16th however, I'll be all yours and will be able to dedicate my time to completing this!

I absolutely LOVE talking to you guys about this work. The reviews are insightful, hilarious and right on the money! I'm so glad that you guys share your thoughts with me!
I'd like to give out a very special shoutout to Erin:) I was shopping at Target the other day and she commented on my Deathly Hallow shirt at the concession cashier and so we got to talking about Harry Potter. I mentioned how I hated that Hermione ended up with Ron and she agreed. So basically I continued to say that I hated the pairing so much that I wrote fanfiction to negate it lol (Screw cannon Dramione Forever!) So she asked me if I had published it and I was like yeah AFF.net and then I told her the name of the work and she was just like "OMG i'm reading that, you can't be Eris!"
Needless to say I was excited! To meet someone in my hometown that is actually reading my work was amazing. I victory danced and promptly went home to write! Maybe thats why this chapter is so long :)
Every Hit, Rating and Review are celebrated and I'm so glad to have had brought my story to you amazing group of readers <3
You guys are my muse!
Here is Chapter Twenty : All Hallows Eve Prestige
Eris
Hermione woke up the Saturday morning of the ball with a smile on her face. Every day had been perfect since she had found her dress. Luna had bought an olive colored gown that matched the wreath she intended to wear as well as a gold mask.
Hermione had completely lucked out though. She had found a gorgeous pair of black stilettos to wear with her dress that had diamond studded heels. Granted they had cost a small fortune but she wanted to look every bit the part of a goddess that she was playing.
The mask she had chosen was made of deep black velvet that was smoothly decorated with an intricate rose pattern. It almost seemed too good to be true because it conformed to her face comfortably and completely. Even the jeweler had agreed that it was made for her.
Luna had convinced her to splurge a bit, and so splurge she had. Hermione bought matching diamond accessories that made her cringe at the cash register when she saw the total price. But ultimately Hermione told herself that it was all going to be worth it in the end.
Truth was Luna didn’t have to do much convincing. Hermione could feel that everything would work out in her favor and so the cost required to have the perfect evening with the Slytherin prince was minutia.
Ever since then however, seeing Draco had become the ultimate highlight of each and every day.
It was almost as though Hermione was seeing him in an entirely different light. He wouldn’t know what hit him tonight at the ball and it was that little tidbit of information that inspired her. It gave her courage and excited her in more ways than ever should have been allowed.
For the span of one evening, she was going to be transcendent. She was going to act like the woman she always wanted to be and lay claim to her very own Slytherin prize.
Hermione looked up to her ceiling and decided right then and there that she would absolutely refuse to take no for an answer. Draco would come home with her that night so she could reveal herself and tell him how she felt.
Unless he flat out denies me, she admitted to herself, but that wasn’t likely to happen. She had seen the kind of women he brought home. How hard could it be to act like a vapid self-serving whore?
Hermione giggled at the thought and pressed her pillow to her face to quell the sound as though Malfoy were beside her and would somehow figure out her plan.
Rolling out of bed and crossing the room to the large bathroom. She went into the walk in closet and pulled down her treasures from their hiding place.
Just seeing the gorgeous dress first thing in the morning made her feel sexy. Hermione picked up the mask and pressed it to her face before casting the sticking charm. She went into the bathroom to grab a hair tie and pulled her hair up and out of the way before looking into the mirror.
This is going to be one amazing night. The mask made her large eyes seem darker and she felt extremely devious just gazing at herself. Wearing the mask as she got dressed, Hermione released the sticking charm just as she was about to leave and hid away her outfit for the night.
Sure it was a bit much considering neither Harry nor Draco ever came into her room but Hermione didn’t want to take any chances. She was even getting dressed at Luna’s and leaving from there, despite the fact that blonde coming here to get dressed and go to the ball with Harry.
Hermione left her room and smirked at the sight of the green door. Hopping down the stairs jovially, she swung around the banister and made her way to the kitchen.
There was the sweet smell of pancakes and bacon permeating the air and all she could do was sigh happily as she sat in her usual seat. Hermione noticed that for a Saturday morning one person was missing and wondered where her best friend was.
“Morning Granger” came the deep rhythmic drawl as Draco turned to face her spatula in hand. “Good morning” she returned smoothly trying her best not to smile too brightly. Every time she saw him, all she could think about was her plan.
Then as if to top it all off, the fact that it was finally the day of the ball only served to excite her tenfold.
“Where’s Harry? He’s usually awake by now.” Draco set two plates down in front of their respective seats on the table. “He spent the night at Luna’s. He had come here first but apparently changed his mind.” They shared a knowing look that lasted a moment longer than it should and Hermione was forced to avert her eyes.
Thinking about sex when all she wanted to do was kiss him would probably lead to her making a fool of herself. She poured herself a glass of juice and pretended as though the gentle hum of arousal reverberating between her knees was nonexistent.
Hermione’s mouth watered as she picked up her fork and Draco flashed a grin as he placed a napkin in his lap. “Thank you for always cooking breakfast, I’ll attempt to return the favor one of these days.”
He looked at her from over the rim of his glass. “I’ll believe that when I see it Granger, you’re dead to the world until 10 unless you have to be to work.”
She feigned offense but ultimately just shrugged “oh well, I at least offered but you can continue to cook for me since you clearly love doing so.” She had been just kidding but was surprised when Draco mirrored her gesture and shrugged.
“There are worse fates than cooking delicious food and spoiling you in the morning Granger.” His direct response stunned her silent. She knew she must’ve looked like a fish in that moment because there were no words come out despite the fact that she was moving her mouth.
Eventually Hermione got a hold of herself, but refrained from answering. She just looked down to her plate and focused entirely on breakfast; missing the bright smile Draco sent her way.
They ate their food in comfortable companionship and talked about various topics long after they were finished with the meal. She stood and gathered their plates before turning and heading to the sink.
“Are you excited for tonight?” she asked as casually as she could. She hoped he was in high spirits because it would make her plan go all the more smoothly.
Hermione turned to look at the blonde when he didn’t answer and was startled to find that he was watching her intently. Had she been able, surely she would have melted under the heat of his silver gaze.
His eyes flicked up to her mouth before lazily rising to meet her own and he simply turned her question back on her. “Are you?”
Hermione turned away from him and filled the sink to wash the dishes, praying that he didn’t notice the blush rising on her cheeks. How does he always do that? I’m freaking horny already!
The way Draco had a habit of settling his attention on her mouth stripped her focus and brought back memories of their shared kisses.
“I haven’t been to a ball in years, so this should be fun.” She could hear the scrapping of his chair behind her and knew that he must’ve stood.
A small part of her wished he would stay where he was, safely on the other side of the room. But the rest of her was screaming for him to take advantage of this situation. They were having another one of those moments where she knew they both wanted the same thing, each other.
Usually he refrained from taking it any further than just a few heated glances because they were “friends”, but friendly was the last thing she was feeling toward him right then and there.
“Well that’s to be expected, women love these kinds of events especially when they have a date to impress.” Lo and behold, Draco was fishing for information and Hermione was happy that he was finally showing interest in whom she spent her time with.
She set the dishes in the hot water and began to wash them. Rinsing the plates and drying them first, Hermione shrugged. “I wouldn’t know anything about that.”
Suddenly his arms reached around her, plucking the dishes from her grasp with his right hand. Draco braced himself against the sink with his left and framed her back with the wide expanse of his chest.
“Oh?” He asked clearly waiting for a further explanation, as he reached up and placed the dishes in the cabinet above her head where they belonged. Hermione sighed and leaned back slightly so that they were pressed against each other.
“Things didn’t work out with Adrian and I didn’t get a chance to find a date.” She waited for his reaction to her news and wondered if he would ask her to the ball now that she had put it out in the open that she was single again.
Draco loved the way that Granger fit against him. He had been standing over her debating on whether he should push his luck before the ball when she told him about Pucey. He had been more pleased than he knew he should have been at the information and felt an answering overwhelming surge of desire. “Will I be seeing you tonight then Granger?”
Screw it. It all comes down to tonight anyway, might as well get a head start. Draco circled her in his arms and slid his hands into the warm water, lightly touching her skin. He pulled the sponge from her grasp, stroking his fingers against her palm as he went.
Her back arched toward him of its own accord and Draco couldn’t help but smirk at her involuntary response. She had to have been the Earth’s most sensitive creature.
It was a wonder he had any self-control around her at all. Especially since he wanted to spend every waking moment touching her and eliciting all the sweet sounds she could make.
“Possibly…” He took his chance to use his hips to pin her securely against the counter. He knew that, as always, she wasn’t wearing much beneath her sweatpants and debated slipping his fingers between her thighs. It would be risky, but Granger was probably already wet for him.
“Roommates should stick together at events like this in the event of them both being single.”
“Oh yeah?” He brought his mouth down level with her ear “it makes the evening far more…pleasurable when you’re with someone you know”
“Is that so?” she teased with a laugh, turning in his arms. They came face to face and Draco could tell that Granger was in a playful mood, her large brown eyes flashing mischievously.
“I hadn’t heard that one before Malfoy and this isn’t any old event but a masquerade. I doubt you’ll even recognize me tonight.” He wished he knew what was going on in that head of hers. She was being far more forthcoming than she had been in the most recent weeks.
“I’d recognize you anywhere Granger.” She smiled then and his focus was pulled to her mouth. Maybe if he just got a kiss… “Care to bet on that Malfoy?” Draco repressed a shudder at the husky tone her voice had taken.
He looked into her eyes to see if she was seriously challenging him but smirked when he confirmed she was. “What are the stakes Granger? I’m confident I can find you in a crowd of a thousand.”
Despite her bravado, her blush returned in full force at this and Draco wanted to laugh. Here she was trying her best to be a saucy little minx but still blushing like mad. It was one of the adorable things he loved about her.
“How about if you find me, I’ll cook breakfast every morning for a month and if you don’t you’ll have to serve me breakfast in bed for a month.” Draco thought on it for a moment, those were fairly innocent terms and it wouldn’t force him to do anything that he hadn’t already planned on doing.
But Granger had turned him on with her teasing and he wasn’t going to let her off so easily now that she had challenged him to a bet he was certain he was going to win. Not to mention that he was primed and ready for a hell of a lot more than breakfast in bed.
“Those terms are boring Granger, how about something more risky?” He grabbed her by the waist and swung her up on the edge of the sink before smoothly stepping in between her thighs.
She exhaled a deep breath in a rush at the sudden movement and he could practically feel the excitement crackling around her, electrifying the air between them. “What did you have in mind?” Draco needed her to be amicable to this, even if she ultimately ended up turning him down later in the evening; he needed to have this moment with her.
He could feel his blood pumping steadily through his veins, rushing south and hardening his cock. He pulled her as far forward as the counter space would allow and pressed his length into the vee between her thighs, boldly informing her of the current state of affairs.
When she didn’t try to escape, Draco growled his appreciation as he slowly ground himself against her. “If I find you Granger, you have to let me have you any and every way that I want.”
She moaned at his movements just as he pressed himself against the most sensitive part of her but brought her hands up to his shoulders. “Not a chance Malfoy, who knows what you’d do to me. Plus what’s the fun in being another one of your whores?”
He squeezed her hips in response “you’ve already experienced what I would do to you Granger if I recall correctly and you already know that you’re no whore.”
“Sweet talk from the playboy how convincing.” She grinned and Draco had to concede. There was no way he would be able to tell Granger that she was wrong without confessing that she was the only woman he wanted to bed ever again and he was saving THAT conversation for later in the evening when he was prepared and less aroused.
“Fair enough Granger. How about this, when I find you, I get to kiss you.” She looked him directly in the eye “and when you don’t, you have to kiss Harry.” Draco was slightly taken aback by her terms but nodded none the less “it’s a deal.”
Hermione had to get away from her sexy roommate and fast. Her mind had gone to the birds as soon as he lifted her up on the sink. Between the persistent pressure of his fingers squeezing her hips and his stiff erection rubbing persistently at her sensitive clit, Hermione was on the verge of life’s sweetest oblivion. And what’s with his original terms? Just the way he had suggested she give herself over to him aroused her. But ultimately she felt more confident about the night to come, now that he had reaffirmed his desire for her.
“It’s a deal.” He answered to her demands, and Hermione bit back a moan when he bucked his hips up into her core to punctuate his words. She didn’t even know how it had come to this. Had he been anyone else, this would have been the most obscene encounter of her life.
“Sounds good, it’s…” Draco cut her off with a kiss, his mouth crashing down on hers before she could even realize his intent. Her eyes drifted close as he pushed his tongue past her lips, rubbing it against her own in a frantic dance.
The feel and taste of him lit up her mouth like a Christmas tree, causing the most amazing tendrils of heat to shoot through her body. She felt herself go damp instantly and had the ever pressing need for the clothing in between them to be gone.
Reaching for his shirt, Hermione slipped her hands beneath it, wanting skin on skin contact of some kind. Merlin, if only he’d rub himself against her needy warm center and perhaps suck her nipples into his mouth just as he done before.
Hermione rocked her hips against his impressive erection and could practically almost the satisfaction of her impending orgasm. Just a bit more.
She leaned into him needing to be closer but just as soon as the unexpected assault began it was over. She opened her eyes to watch as Draco released her from his grasp and pulled in deep lungful’s of air.
The room seemed to spin as Hermione fought to get air back into her system. Had she been standing, she was certain she would have fallen to her knees. She held onto the counter to steady herself but her arms wobbled and she ended up leaning back over the sinkful of soapy water instead.
It took her long moments to quell the rush of desire surging between her knees. Merlin yes… she needed more of just that exactly, but I’ve got to hold out until later. When Hermione could formulate a sentence, she pointed an accusatory finger at the blonde. “You haven’t won the bet, you can’t just kiss me.”
Draco crossed his arms “I said that I get to kiss you Granger, I didn’t specify where. That was just to seal the deal between us, but your mouth is not what I’m going to claim as my prize.”
Her eyes went wide as realization sunk in and suddenly she was back at the night of the thunderstorm writhing on Draco's bed as his tongue and mouth stroked against her warm center.
Hermione’s entire body reacted to the memory as though she were back in his room and she could almost feel her fingers gripping his hair pressing him closer and closer as his tongue forayed deeper inside.
Hermione was getting closer and closer to the edge, when suddenly her fingers dipped in something wet and she realized with a start that he had used Legilimency on her!
“Out of my head Malfoy!” she snapped opening her eyes. He only grinned “I just wanted to remind you of exactly what I meant Granger.”
Her cheeks reddened at the thought but she was not going to be bowled over by him and his dirty tactics, even though her mind was reeling at the thought of him being between her legs again. “You haven’t won a thing yet, so don’t get your hopes up because you won’t be able to spot me.”
“You sound as if it would be a bad thing for me to find you.” He commented in an incredibly deep and sexy accusatory voice. “Surely you don’t mean to actually win this bet?” Draco came close to her again but this time wrapped her legs around his waist and hoisted her up against his body.
A shiver ran down her spine in anticipation as he reached up to loosen her hair from its ponytail and she wondered briefly if he would allow her to kiss him. Her long tresses fell down past her shoulders in waves and he buried his finger into the strands, massaging the base of her skull.
“I could show you just what I had in mind for when I win Granger. Right here, right now if you’d like. I would love a second breakfast.” Hermione closed her eyes at the sound of his voice and felt her body rock against his as he took the slow steps back to the table.
Draco turned with her in his arms and set her bottom on the wood before gently pressing her down to lie on it. He pulled his shirt off in one quick motion and she was presented with the flat panes of his chest, the rugged silver scars and the dark mark that he had never hid from her.
He pushed up the material of her tank top to expose her stomach and rained kisses on the smooth expanse of skin before dipping his tongue into her navel.
Hermione closed her eyes at the feeling and called out his name softly as he bit along the side of her hip. Wasting no time, Draco began to drag down her sweats and Hermione arched her hips to help him. Screw waiting until tonight.
The sound of the fireplace in the sitting room rang out, interrupting them. Granger acted first. She jumped down from the table, pulled up her pants and took a few quick steps to the door.Just when Draco thought she was going to leave without saying anything, she turned back to him with quite possible the sexiest grin he had ever seen. “Good luck tonight Malfoy, just don’t be too disappointed when you lose” and then she was gone, heading in the direction of the stair case.
He pulled his shirt back on and finished the dishes with a flick of his wrist. Greeting Potter as he entered the room, Draco read the newspaper but recounted the events of that morning over and over in his head.
He couldn’t wait for the night to come.
There just wasn’t any possible way that Granger could win this bet. They hadn’t specified the means in which he could search for her and he just intended to ask everyone he knew to keep an eye out for her.
It was going to be one of the easiest won bets in history and there was nothing she could do to stop it.
Merlin he couldn’t wait to taste her again, they had been so bloody close that morning. But in hindsight Draco supposed he could save the table sex for after he had her properly on his bed. He wanted a repeat performance of the night of the storm and he wanted it badly.
The only difference however would be that this time he wasn’t going to let her run out on him and avoid him. This time he was going to keep her and love her every single night until she conceded to loving him too.
Draco smirked to himself and turned the page of the prophet to the article about the masquerade ball.
Granger had no clue what she had gotten herself into.
Hermione rushed up to her room without even bothering to say hello to Harry, and was safely behind her door before she did her victory dance. She had done it! She had managed to be incredibly sexy and leave Draco wanting more as herself! Without the mask of disguise!
Their little bet made everything even better because Malfoy had been so confident that he could find her that he never even thought that she might be wearing just more than a mask. Hermione twirled in a circle and headed for her dresser.
She wanted to tell Luna of the new plan but opted not to. The bet would be her dirty little secret with Draco, one that would hopefully only serve to get her closer to her goal once she revealed herself to him that night.
Hermione got her things ready for the day and took a shower. Not only would Malfoy fail to find her that night and effectively lose their sexy bet. But she would get to be the woman she truly wanted to be; alluring, irresistible and for the span of that evening completely Draco Malfoy’s.
The day went quicker than anyone would have expected and before he knew it, it was 7:30 and Draco was putting the finishing touches to his ensemble. “Are you ready for tonight?” Draco straightened his tie and turned to face Blaise. The Italian was looking at him expectantly, putting his mask into place. “As ready as I’ll ever be.” Blaise picked up the striking dark green mask that was on the dressing room table and handed it to his best friend.
“Let’s head out then.” Draco cast the sticking charm and watched in the mirror as he settled it into place. He had chosen a Black tux with a dark green vest and a silver tie, all in all the colors melded together well and represented the Malfoy crest as was customary.
The dark green mask tied it all together and the silver of his eyes seemed more pronounced from behind it.
Holding their invitations in hand and activating the Portkeys; Draco took a deep breath and did his best to remain calm despite the impending conversation he was going to have with Hermione Granger.
He reminded himself that at the very least finding her would ensure that he would win their bet and for now the thought of that small victory gave him courage. They were sucked into time and space and Draco welcomed the feeling freely.
It’s now or never.
Hermione looked herself over in the mirror one last time and nodded to herself. “You can do this. Tonight isn’t just about charming Draco Malfoy or telling him how you feel. It’s about being yourself and being happy with the woman you are.”She pressed her mask into place and smoothed her hair down her back before bringing her wand up and casting a spell. She watched as the color seemed to seep down from the roots, turning her usually chestnut colored hair into bright blonde that could rival Draco's.
“Tonight is about being true to yourself and not running from the big decisions in your life. If you want something you have to take it. If you want something you have to work for it.” Hermione picked up her invitation and waved her wand over it, watching as it glowed on and off in her hands like a countdown.
She could feel her nerves building as she waited to be taken away. “If all else fails, at least you were yourself and there is nothing better than always being true to yourself.”
“The minister certainty out did himself with this event” Blaise commented as they walked into the large stone ball room. Draco stopped at the top of the stair case and handed his invitation to the staff member collecting them before agreeing. There was an incredibly large turnout for it to only been about eight-thirty. The entire room was filled to the brim with guests who were elaborately dressed and all hidden behind their masks
“He certainly captured the spirit of the Halloween” Draco observed as he looked up to the intricate cob webs hanging from the ceiling charmed in the shape of chandeliers, lighting the room with a mercurial glow.
There were floating pumpkins swaying to the music high in the air with bats flying in predetermined directions; swooping in and out of the room at an altitude just high enough to miss the crowd of people completely.
The ghosts that had been invited were gliding out of walls at unexpected moments scaring the living guests as they went and Draco was positive that there might in fact be a few vampires in attendance that night as well.
The ministry insignia was hung on a large tapestry behind the stage where the band was performing and there was a large purple carpet laid out for them down the stairs leading to the dance floor.
“It’s crazy that the ministry ended up using this place. I know it’s the perfect location for this sort of thing but I get the creeps just being here.” Blaise admitted adjusting his mask and running his fingers through his hair. Draco had to agree, the energy in the room was all wrong despite the intentional spooky atmosphere.
There was just something about it that was making his skin crawl.
They made their way down the stairs and into the throng of socializing witches and wizards. “So where to first Drake?”
“Keep an eye out for Granger and let me know if you spot her. I’ve got to find her before the night is through.” Blaise walked side by side with him to the center of the room. “Gonna use the amazing birthday gifts I gave her?”
Draco grinned and turned to face the Italian, “absolutely. Granger has no clue that I picked them all out. Potter told me she chucked the lingerie into the fire place because she didn’t want to wear anything of that nature if you bought it.”
Blaise laughed at this “I wonder if she would have kept them if she knew that the gift was really from you.” Draco thought on it for a moment “possibly, I’m thinking Granger is on board with the whole us thing. This morning was quite the nice preview of how it could be between us, given the chance.”
“Draco!” a shrill voice called out and he felt a shudder run down his spine as he turned to see Astoria Greengrass coming their way. “This should be fun” Blaise teased before stepping forward to greet the slight woman first.
“Astoria what a pleasure to see you again, how did you know it was him?” She accepted his greeting quickly before stepping closer to Draco and holding out her hand. ‘I’d recognize his electric blonde hair anywhere.”
Draco refrained from rolling his eyes and kissed her extended hand it as was expected. “So have you given any thoughts to my proposal Draco? I know you were in a peculiar mood last time but the offer is still on the table.”
The conversation went on much like this until an acceptable amount of time had passed and Draco could excuse himself. He took a slow step away from the two of them and sent Blaise a bored look.
“I’ll get us some drinks and be right back. Keep an eye out for my… friend.” Blaise just grinned in response “of course, see you in a bit.” Draco nodded politely to Astoria and quickly made his escape. She called out his name but he didn’t even attempt to turn back.
As he maneuvered toward the bar, he wondered briefly where his parents were. It wasn’t like them to miss such a big event. They were true socialites by nature and flourished under these circumstances.
“Draco!” He suddenly heard to his left, he turned to the familiar voice. Well think of the devil…
His mother and father had on matching Malfoy colors of green black and silver just as he had and wore similar elegant masks. Draco was glad to see that they both looked incredibly jovial and in high spirits.
“Where are you off to dear? I saw that you were with Blaise and Astoria.” This whole Masquerade idea is clearly failing. “I’m getting drinks for us and keeping an eye out for a few of my other friends.” His mother gave him a bright smile that instantly made him suspicious.
“These friends of yours wouldn’t happen to be a lovely roommate of yours would they?” Draco shook his head in annoyance. “That son of a…”
“uh uh uh Draco, language. I taught you better than that. Blaise just keeps me company here and then” his mother defended with a mischievous smirk. “Do all the two of you do is gossip about me when you get together for these “visits” of yours mother?”
Narcissa Malfoy reached forward and stroked his cheek “of course dear, I’ve got to get my information one way or another.” His father laughed at the expression on his face and took his wife’s hand.
“Come now dear; let’s find some “friends” of our own. Leave Draco alone before you discourage him from his important mission.” Draco felt his cheeks flush as his father gave him a knowing look and then they were off wandering further into the crowd.
I really need to get Blaise back for this.
Draco walked past Kingsley Shacklebolt but opted not to stop. As friendly as the minister of magic was, Draco didn’t want to be a part of his conversation about the crows.
“Get them out! They will ruin everything if they defecate!” Draco heard the older man order whisper harshly to two of his staff.
He made his way over to the bar and glanced around the room as he waited for his drink to be prepared. Blaise would just have to fend for himself since he didn’t know how to keep his mouth shut.
Plus there was no way that Draco was going back over to him now since Astoria was still there. She would latch onto him like a leech and try to stick with him all night.
He had important business to attend to that evening and didn’t want to be distracted. The good news was that Draco was almost positive he could spot Grangers wavy mane anywhere.
He wished he would have found out what color dress she was wearing but Luna was too busy being curiously unhelpful when he questioned her. You would think she would be dying to let me know, the way I’ve been carrying on about Granger and all.
In fact the little witch had been acting all sorts of strange for the past few weeks. Every time she saw him she would smile bright and give him a look as though she knew something that he didn’t.
It was all very unsettling and had it been anyone else other than Luna he would have had them thoroughly investigated. But the woman was like a little sister to him and he trusted that even if she did have something planned it would work in his favor and definitely not against him.
Draco accepted his drink and tipped the bartender heavily before bringing the glass up to his mouth. He noticed that the fire whiskey smelled funny but was completely distracted as he turned to face the room.
The lovely vision of a beautiful woman greeted his eyes and the entire room seemed to fade away. His hand drifted down toward the bar, and he set down his glass absentmindedly as he stared.
She stood at the top of the stairs with a black mask on her face and her long blonde hair hanging loosely down her back in waves.
She wore a flesh colored strapless dress that hugged her ample breast and stretched delicately down her body to her hips before loosening up slightly to pool around her ankles.
The diamonds she wore on her ears, neck and wrist shined almost as bright as her megawatt smile. But they didn’t adorn her skin half as well as the lovely blush that had settled in her cheeks.
Her lips were painted a deep contrasting red to her pale skin and he wished he could get a closer look. There was no way that this woman was merely human. She’s got to be fully Veela.
The woman took the stairs slowly, refusing the hand of some random man that offered to assist her. Her gaze scanning the large room and she took step by delicate step. Draco followed her movement with his eyes and couldn’t help but notice the sway of her hips as she made each pronounced movement.
Draco felt the sudden stab of arousal and quickly averted his eyes. Tonight was all about Granger. He didn’t have to time to ogle other women when he had one of his own to find.
Leaving the bar and heading in the opposite direction of where the alluring woman had went; Draco pushed all thoughts of her from his mind as he searched for the woman he loved.
Hermione made it to the ground level and looked around the crowd for a familiar blonde head of hair. She noticed that Harry and Luna were standing nearby and began head in their direction. It was probably for the best she saw them first anyway. She had to give them some things to hold and it would be a good test to see if Harry could recognize her.
Halfway across the dance floor an arm snaked around her waist turning her completely from the direction in which she was going. She came face to face with none other than Ronald Weasley and froze.
“I’m sure I’ve never seen you around the ministry before but you’re too beautiful for me to ignore right now. What’s your name?” Hearing his voice asking her such a ridiculous question brought her out of her stupor. “It’s me!” she snapped quickly.
Pulling back from him, her own blonde hair flashed in her field of vision and she immediately recognized her mistake. Ron’s eyes narrowed suspiciously but she flashed him the brightest smile. “I apologize, you startled me. It’s Mia. My name is Mia”
Ron pulled her closer again “Well Mia, you are easily the most attractive women in this entire room. What do you say we have this dance and then get drinks?” Hermione detached herself.
“Unfortunately I have my eye on someone more up to my standards.” She told him sweetly before turning and walking away toward where Harry stood. She knew he would watch her until she reached her destination and that he would be pissed once he realized that that destination was Harry.
Serves you right Ronald. She thought throwing an arm around Harry’s shoulder. She watched as he gave her a nasty look and stalked off into the crowd of people.
Luna smiled brightly when she saw her. But Harry, true gentleman that he was, gently removed her arm and took Luna’s hand in his. “Sorry but do we know each other?”
Hermione pulled out her wand discretely and released the voice charm she had cast. “It’s me Harry.” She whispered before recasting the spell and hiding her wand.
Harry’s emerald eyes widened beneath his mask as he gave her a double take, “Hermione?!” Both Luna and Hermione dived for him, slapping their hands over his lips. “Not so loud Harry you’ll blow my cover!”
He looked her over again “But I can’t believe I didn’t recognize you! Me! Of all people, I mean I can clearly see that it’s you now, but bloody brilliant job. You look amazing!” Hermione blossomed under his praise and felt her confidence soar through the roof.
If Harry hadn’t recognized her, then there was no way Draco would. “Why the change in your hair and voice though? I mean it’s a masquerade but everyone pretty much can tell who each other is.”
Not Ronald, she thought with a slight frown at the remembrance of her estranged best friends behavior earlier in the evening. She explained her plan to Harry and could tell by the large grin on his face by the end of it that he approved.
“I’m happy for you” he told her as he pulled her into his arms for a quick hug. “But we probably shouldn’t hang out tonight because other people will begin to wonder who you are if you’re with me and eventually someone will figure it out.”
Hermione nodded “I know, I just wanted to come over and give this to you. Can you keep it safe for me?” She pulled out her waystone and watched as the pendant dangled in front of her for a moment.
“Malfoy will know it’s me immediately if I wear it but I didn’t want to leave it at home.”
“Ah Mr. Potter, how good to see you this evening” Someone called out from behind them. Hermione turned toward the sound of the voice and glanced at Harry nervously as Lucius and Narcissa Malfoy made their way over.
Harry greeted Lucius with a firm handshake and Luna extended her hand. “Good to see you again Lucius it’s been a while.” The elder Malfoy nodded “I’ve been trying to organize my life to the fullest. It’s a lot of work. We just saw Draco; he seemed to be enjoying himself. How are you fairing at this grand event.”
Hermione tried to edge her way out of their conversation as Harry answered. She would just have to give him the waystone at another… “What a lovely piece that is? May I see it?” Narcissa asked gesturing to the pendant dangling from Hermione’s fingers.
She nodded politely and handed it to the witch. Hermione could easily see where Draco got his good looks from. His parents looked fantastic individually and even better together. Hermione only hoped that her plan worked and that ultimately the two standing before her approved.
Narcissa showed the piece to Lucius and he took it immediately, studying it. He turned to her fully “this is a truly lovely pendant, where did you get it miss…?” Hermione shot a glance to Harry but tried to cover it up quickly.
She held out her hand to Lucius and let him kiss quickly before shaking hands with Narcissa. “Mia Déesse and a friend was kind enough to grace me with that pendant as a gift.”
Lucius looked her over quickly, almost as if scrutinizing her. “This is a very interesting stone in the center. Do you happen to know what it is, Miss …Déesse?”
Hermione didn’t want to admit to anything that had to do with the time magic of Grimmauld. “Unfortunately, I do not.” Narcissa gave her the same piercing look her husband had but ultimately smiled.
“It’s a very old sort of ritual stone. But this one is unique as it has blood magic infused within it. Ritual stones can have multiple uses but the one that’s so very evident with this particular piece is its protective qualities. Your …friend is very concerned for your wellbeing it would seem.”
Hermione perked up at that. Draco was interested in her wellbeing? “How so if you don’t mind me asking” Narcissa placed a gentle hand on Hermione’s forearm before handing back the pendent to her. “That is something you’ll just have to ask the person who gave it to you.”
Then she grinned up to her husband and wrapped her hand around his arm. “Well we’ve taken up enough of your time, have a wonderful evening Mr. Potter, Miss Lovegood, Miss Déesse hopefully we’ll be seeing more of you as well. It’s always a pleasure to meet new people.”
Lucius nodded in her direction. “Miss Déesse, it was lovely to make your acquaintance. I especially like moniker that you’ve taken, Mia the Goddess. Seems to fit the evening all too well.” He gave her a kind look and then turned away with his wife.
Hermione expelled a breath she hadn’t known she’d been holding. “Of course the Malfoys would know French, why hadn’t I used Slavic or some other language.” Luna came forward and placed a hand on her shoulder.
“Because knowing the Malfoys they probably would have known that language too” They all shared a laugh and Hermione handed the pendent to Harry who stuffed it immediately in his pocket.
“There are an unusual amount of crows here tonight don’t you think. Even for a mostly abandoned manor.” Luna was looking up at the rafters with a puzzled expression on her face but Hermione was more preoccupied with her mission that night.
“They are probably apart of the décor. Since I haven’t heard or seen any one with droppings on them, I’m assuming their magicked to vanish directly after the birds relieve themselves”
Harry gave Luna an odd look for a moment and then glanced up at the birds. “I agree there are a lot of them. It’s pretty creepy too, but Hermione is probably right. The minister put a lot into planning this, there isn’t anything he didn’t think of.
Luna stared up to the crows for a long silent moment, her eyes reflecting the light in such a way that the silver glow of them seeming almost luminous themselves. “Like a veil of death hanging above our heads while we celebrate.”
Anxiety crept up her spine at her ominous observation but Hermione tore her gaze away from the blonde and looked to her best friend. Brown clashed with green and they shared a look that comforted them both.
Hermione smiled kindly at Luna but took a step back. “I better go socialize before someone notices that I’m spending a lot of time with you two and figures out who I am. Have fun tonight”
Harry reached out and squeezed her hand “I think he’s a worthy choice, good luck with everything.” Hermione returned the pressure with her fingers and nodded. “Hopefully he feels the same.”
She spent the next hour wandering through the crowd dancing and talking with any and everyone who wanted her attention. Hermione was having the time of her life being Mia Déesse and she wondered why she only thought of doing this now.
She still hadn’t caught site of Draco though and it was beginning to annoy her. Here she was all decked out wearing diamonds that cost more than most people’s homes and he was nowhere to be found when her main goal was to seduce him.
Blaise had even come up to her that evening. She obliged him with a dance but was forced to ditch him once he became too fresh. It was a shame too because she was positive that spending time with him would ultimately lead her to Draco.
Hermione made her way back to the entry way stair case, giving Ron a discouraging look when she noticed he had caught sight of her again and turned to face the crowd. She scanned the sea of masks for a head of blonde hair and instantly noticed Lucius Malfoy.
Sighing, she gave the large room a thorough second look when she caught sight of the familiar platinum hair. The build and stature for the man in the dark green mask was just right and Hermione couldn’t help but inwardly celebrate.
Keeping her eyes on him the entire time, Hermione made her way to him in a slow procession, she didn’t want to seem as though she were in a hurry to reach him and draw attention to herself.
Draco was wearing colors similar to his parents but looked absolutely stunning in his black tux. His back was to her and he was talking to who she immediately recognized as Blaise. But she wasn’t going to let anything deter her now that she had found him.
“Dance with me?” Hermione asked coming to a stop a few feet away from him. She held out a hand in the way that was customary for formal meetings and waited for him to acknowledge her request. Draco turned and she could see his eyes widen behind his mask.
She smiled coyly, not expecting that reaction but quickly covered it up by motioning toward the dancing couples. He looked around before turning back to Blaise and whispering something before accepting her hand and kissing it in greeting.
“It will be my pleasure.” Hermione felt butterflies in her stomach as his warm mouth touched her skin and she allowed him to take her away.
Draco led her to the center of the dance floor and held her hand in his as he brought his other one to her waist. Hermione placed a shaky hand up to his shoulder and prayed that he didn’t noticed.
“If I may ask what is your name?” Best way to tell a lie, look them directly in the eye. Hermione brought her gaze level with his “Mia Déesse and you are of course Draco Malfoy.”
“It’s a pleasure to make your acquaintance Mia. I noticed how incredibly stunning you looked once you arrived and it would be remiss of me if I didn’t tell you how incredibly beautiful you are.”
Her mouth quirked up slightly, “oh?” He twirled her suddenly to the beat of the music and brought her back to him smoothly. “Like any man’s wildest dream.”
Hermione took this compliment to heart and glided with Draco across the floor as the song broke into a waltz. They danced past Harry and Luna and then later Ron and some dark haired woman but Hermione didn’t bother to look away from her own partner.
They were discussing music, art, literature and history just as they did normally and she loved how easy it was to discuss things with him. Song after song began and ended with them still moving together.
He told her about his love of cooking and how he loved preparing meals daily and joked about some of the outfits of the people they passed. Hermione was having the time of her life, spinning and laughing with him.
She held him close as a new song began and felt true happiness settle in her limbs. Draco Malfoy you’re all mine.
If Draco were to be completely honest with himself, he knew that he should leave the beautiful woman dancing in his arms sooner rather than later. Much to his surprise he was having the best time that he had with a woman at a function of this nature.Mia was the perfect combination of nearly everything he admired or wanted in a woman and for the span of the evening it seemed as though she were all his, if he wanted her.
Many suitors had come to try and have her next dance but then she’d just smile up to him and inform them that she was exactly where she wanted to be. It was all very flattering, if not amusing when both Blaise and Ron Weasley had failed to take her from him.
It all made Draco feel incredibly more possessive of her than he felt comfortable being which brought him back to his original thought of leaving. He needed to find Granger before the night was over and time was flying by while he spent the evening with Mia.
He couldn’t explain what it was about her but Mia was charismatic, and the energy she exuded complimented him well. She was a woman that knew her own mind and body and it was far too alluring for him.
He could practically feel her arousal radiating off of her in waves and it was making him lose focus on his goals for the evening. Their chemistry was irrefutable and he couldn’t help but imagine just what it could have led to that night.
Draco stopped that train of thought abruptly. No matter how brilliantly interesting she was, Mia could never be Granger and he really needed to end whatever strange attraction that was keeping him with the blonde.
It didn’t matter how strongly his body was reacting to her, he had more important things to accomplish. Mind over matter Malfoy, mind over matter.
“I find it interesting that we’ve never met considering I know the majority of the guests here tonight.” Draco commented after a time.A slower song began to play and soon the dance floor was crowded with couples. Draco drew her closer to him until their bodies were pressed against each other and looked into her eyes.
“I also find it interesting that you sought me out when there is not a single man here that wouldn’t die for your attention.”
He was gazing at her intently, and Hermione hadn’t realized when his focus had shifted from being completely enthralled with her to being increasingly alert.
Suddenly Hermione was incredibly aware of how nervous she truly was. This is it. You can do this! Mia isn’t afraid of anything.
She repeated her mantra time and time again in her head, while taking her sweet time answering him. Hermione wracked her brain for the proper thing to say.
When she couldn’t formulate some witty rejoinder, Hermione opted for what had been the most prevalent though on her mind for weeks. “Well that’s because it’s only you that I want.”
Draco couldn’t hide his shock. He truly didn’t know what to believe of the woman in front of him. Mia Déesse, she had introduced herself as, but he hadn’t ever heard of a wizarding Déesse family in England. It was rather feasible that he wouldn’t know of every single wizarding family, but there was no way that he would have missed her before. Even with a mask on he could tell that her looks were legendary.
From the sexy slant of her mouth to the delicate curve of her nose, Draco was sure he would have remembered her. Her blonde hair had to have been a family trademark considering the color was a recessive gene. But the Malfoys were the only all blonde family that he knew of.
“What is it that you want from me specifically?” He dipped her low and then brought her up slowly against him. He met her gaze again and loved how incredibly dark they were, they reminded him of the same expressive eyes that Granger had, utterly beautiful.
He looked around them to see if he could catch sight of Granger and her chocolate mane of hair but was distracted when Mia smirked at him and pulled free from his hold. She brought both hands up and wrapped them around his neck, “I want you to be mine for an evening Draco.”
Another shocking answer, Hermione silently celebrated. Draco clearly looked as though he hadn’t expected that response and she was proud of her quick thinking. It would seem as though being completely honest about her desires was going to be the best course of action for the evening. Draco only grinned in response as they swayed together and they danced for a couple more songs in silence.
Hermione enjoyed the feel of him against her and thought back to that morning in the kitchen. If she was successful tonight then hopefully she would have many more moments like this with him.
Draco lifted her arms from around his neck and guided them back to the proper stance. “What if I say that I’m already taken for this evening?”
“I don’t think you are.” Hermione told him confidently but had to keep herself from inquiring to whom he could possibly belong to. Could he have meant her? Could he have meant their bet?
“Just this once you’re right.”
Bastard. She couldn’t help but think when he unsuspectingly crushed her hopes. She wondered how he expected to find Hermione if she had him hooked on Mia.
She probably should have been more disappointed in the fact that he clearly wasn’t as interested in their bet as she had thought he had been this morning. But she wasn’t going to let the little things get her down.
The important part was that she had him, right in that moment. They danced for a few more songs when Draco dropped her arms and stepped away. “As lovely as this has been, there are other matters I have to attend to. Have a…”
Hermione pressed a finger to his lips and gave him her best smile. “It would be incredibly rude of you to leave a lady in the middle of the dance floor, especially one as engaging and charming as I am. Let’s talk about life, the future.”
Draco eyed her suspiciously before a look of realization passed over his features and she panicked. Surely he couldn’t have realized it’s me, not with the mask, hair and voice. Draco took her in his arms and began to dance again.
“Did my mother send you?” She followed his steps with ease and shook her head. “Of course not.” He pulled her close and quickened his pace in time with the music. “It doesn’t matter how beautiful you are, I have no interest in marrying you.”
Hermione laughed right in his face, was this how it was for him normally? “I hadn’t realized I had asked. But no worries Draco, what I want from you doesn’t require anything quite that permanent.”
He took exception to her tone and let her go “well what is this illustrious thing you seek? If not the Malfoy name then what? Money? Connections? Prestige? Sex?”
Normally Hermione would have been offended at the things that Draco was insinuating but it was all a part of her game and the longer she danced with him the more confident she got. “Wouldn’t that be simple?” She flashed him his own trademark smirk.
“Imagine, if it were any one of those things you’d be able to reject me with a well-rehearsed flourish. How courteous of you Draco.”
“If not those things, then what?” He asked impatiently and she could hear the clear irritation in his voice. Hermione crossed her arms “you’re compliance.”
It was his turn to laugh “that’s a first and what devious scheme would you have me comply with? I’m assuming there is some skill of mine that you need.”
Hermione ran her fingers up the lapels of his jacket. “So cocky Draco...” she trailed off and flicked her eyes up to his. “I want your attention that’s all, nothing more, nothing less.” His hands slid down to rest on her hips.
“If not for sex than what kind of attention could you possibly be seeking?” Her fingers brushed against the skin of his neck and then drifted against his jawline.
“Your mind fascinates me. I’ve never been so intrigued by another human being before.”
“So you just want to spend an evening talking?” Draco scoffed as yet another song came to an end. There was a moment of silence as the band prepared the next piece and Hermione found that she couldn’t quite stop herself from saying what was on her mind. “I want to spend this evening convincing you to come home with me.”
“And you’re sure this isn’t about sex?” Hermione ran her thumb down the column of his neck before bringing her hand back to his shoulders and squeezing. “Sex with men that they met just that night are for whores. I want you to make love to me tonight Draco. That is if you know how.”
She expected him to be excited, or to rise to the occasion and accept her challenge. But instead he just sighed and pulled away from her.
Draco was getting nervous. It was a half an hour until midnight and he still hadn’t seen hide nor hair of Granger. He had been searching for her everywhere in the crowd even as he had danced with the overly obvious Mia.Had it been months ago, he would have escorted the blonde beauty from the ball without a second thought. But all he had on his mind was that morning with Granger in the kitchen and there was no one else he wanted more.
Looking down into Mia’s stunning dark brown eyes, Draco felt the familiar stirrings low in his groin. But he pushed the feeling away and was slightly disgusted with the fact that he was doing such a poor job at controlling his arousal. “It has been lovely dancing with you but I must bid you a good night.”
Surprisingly there was a flash of hurt in her eyes and Draco felt like a louse. “I’m sorry, I truly am. None of this is any fault of your own. You’re beautiful, witty and charmingly intelligent. I’m just not looking to go home with anyone tonight.”
Mia nodded but graced him with another one of her mesmerizing smiles. “Well then have a lovely night Draco.” She gave him a small curtsy and turned into the crowd of dancing couples. He watched her walk away for a moment but spotted Potter by the bar and quickly made his way over.
Harry noticed his roommate approaching from the corner of his eye and could tell from the speed of his gait that it was important. Setting down the drink he had been holding, he greeted the wizard with an amused smile.“You looked rather cozy with the blonde, spent all night dancing with her.” Malfoy turned full circle and answered “she is rather beautiful,” while looking absent mindedly around the crowd.
“Will she be the winner tonight then, for the infamous Malfoy home tour?” Harry asked with a small laugh. The blonde frowned and surprised the Head Auror when he shook his head. “No, have you seen Granger at all tonight?”
Harry repressed a grin, Malfoy was such a goner it wasn’t even funny anymore. He wasn’t interested in the beautiful blonde woman he had been dancing with because he had spent the entire evening preoccupied with finding Hermione.
“Yes, quite a few times actually, just about as often as I’ve seen you. I’m surprised you haven’t found her yet.” Malfoy didn’t even bother to look at him. “Well what color dress is she wearing?” Harry relished in the rare opportunities to mess with the man that had become one of his best friends.
“Hermione told me not to tell you. But any way, you looked great with the blonde and from what I’ve hear from the various people she’s talked to tonight, she’s rather interesting.” Malfoy nodded but was still looking through the crowd of people searching for their brunette roommate.
“She is, more interesting than they usually are. It was rather refreshing.” Harry leaned back against the counter. “I’m glad; she seems like someone that may be worth holding onto.”
Malfoy turned to Harry finally catching his drift. “And what of Granger? You were telling me that we were rather well suited for each other just the other night. So how can you turn around and tell me this blonde is better?”
Damn he had him there. A direct question of that nature wasn’t something Harry could easily talk his way out of. He expelled a shaky breath, feeling himself getting more and more anxious as the seconds passed by without him answering.
If only there was a true way to get around this oath.
Harry tried a different method of explaining rather than just coming right out with the truth.
“Quite easily actually because you haven’t really looked at the woman you’ve been dancing with. She’s the belle of this entire ball in that nude colored dress. Every other man is dying to be you, well except for me of course. She has charmed some of the most important people in all of London tonight and they still haven’t a clue where she’s been all their lives. Mia Déesse she called herself. Mia the goddess.”
The blonde wizard frowned, what was Potter on about? Draco was fluent in French, he had already known what her last name meant but all the rest of what he had said didn’t answer his question. How could Potter of all people be trying to push him off on some random woman when Draco had expressed a very clear desire to be with his best friend?
The Head Auror met his gaze. “I think this woman is the best match for you because you’ve stayed with her all night. It’s clear to anyone that knows you that you are drawn to her. her beauty, wit and intelligence”
Draco had truly hoped that all of that hadn’t been as clear as Potter was making it out to be. “That doesn’t matter. I’m set on Granger and no one else will do.”
“But why have Hermione when you can have a goddess?” Draco could feel himself getting upset. What was Potter talking about? How could he talk about his best friend in that manner? Granger was exceptional in every single way.
“Who the fuck cares about some self-proclaimed goddess, when Hermione Granger is the embodiment of true divinity on earth?”
Draco tried to keep his voice down for the sake of not exposing himself to the entire wizarding community. But he was passed the point of being in control of himself when the man that was supposed to understand him was spouting nonsense.
“Who the fuck cares, who I spent my evening with? It doesn’t change how I feel and I don’t want to hear your shit about choosing some random woman over Granger.”
“Right answer,” Draco shook his head in bewilderment at the quick reply. “What?”
Potter just shrugged and pointed to something behind Draco. “Hermione was around a lot more than you think this evening.”
Draco’s frown deepened and he wondered if Granger had seen him with Mia and thought he wasn’t interested. He couldn’t bear the thought of her misunderstanding him. Not when they were so close to getting it right.
Draco truly hadn’t meant to spend the evening with Mia; the thought had just occurred to him late to get away. Mia had an easy going comfortable personality that shone past her come hither routine that he had enjoyed. But she meant nothing in comparison to Granger.
“What are you getting at Potter? That doesn’t explain anything,” he snapped. Angrier with himself for so callously ignoring Granger when he should have spent more time seeking her out.
Draco turned to look at what his roommate was pointing at but was surprised to immediately recognize Mia Déesse whispering to none other than Luna Lovegood herself.
They were huddled extremely close for new acquaintances and the shorter of the two was rubbing comforting circles on the others back. Eventually after a few more seconds of this, Mia took a step back and tugged on her dress a bit before hugging Luna and breaking away toward the balcony.
Draco looked back to Potter quickly as if to confirm what he had just seen but the Auror only nodded and crossed his arms.
“You’ve spent the entire evening looking into her face but you didn’t notice what her eyes were telling you all along.”
Suddenly everything fell into place piece by piece and Draco could see the entirely of his evening with renewed clarity. He spun on the spot to fully face Potter and shook his head “It can’t be.”
Potter pushed himself off the bar and brushed the wrinkles out of his suit, before walking past Draco in the direction of his girlfriend.
Just when Draco thought that he wasn’t going to get an answer, the bastard turned around and had the audacity to smirk.
“Oh it most certainly is.”

If you're looking for something else to read in between updates or even simulataneously with this fic: check out Morning Snow's Daylight (http://hp.adult-fanfiction.org/story.php?no=600097308) I've been completely hooked with the fic since it's inception and cannot wait for more.
The author exhibits great diversity with her work and thinks outside the box to create interesting scenarios. This fic in particular takes place 10 years after the war and in Texas and is action packed and steamy very early on! There are 9 chapters thus far and it's completely engaging!
