Hermione sighed as dinner ended, knowing that she could not ignore Ginny any longer. She looked over at her friend, and saw that she was watching her intently. Hermione rolled her eyes. It's not like she was going to run away screaming from the Great Hall, that would just make it look like she had something to hide.
"Do you have your work you needed help with?" Hermione asked Ginny.
Ginny nodded. "Yup, I brought it all with me to dinner."
"Okay. Let's go to the library, that way I can find a book easily if you need it."
"Sure, sounds good," Ginny said smiling sweetly.
Hermione sighed, and pushed her empty plate away from herself.
"Bye Hermione, Ginny," Ron and Harry said smiling and waving.
"Come by the common room later if you want," Ron stated.
"I'll think about it," Hermione said smiling.
Ginny bounded over beside Hermione. "Ready to go?"
"Yeah, let's go," Hermione said leading the way to the library.
They walked together in silence. Hermione didn't know what to say, and didn't want to say anything that would give away how nervous she was about Ginny wanting to talk to her. She knew that Ginny had caught her looking over at Draco at lunch time, and she was not looking forward to having to explain what was going on. She was trying to think of a white lie to tell, one that wouldn't give away what was actually going on between them, but Ginny must have known what she was thinking because she said,
"I know you're probably thinking about what you're going to say to me, but let me tell you that you're a horrible liar."
Hermione let out a huff.
Ginny linked her arm through Hermione's.
"You know you can tell me anything Hermione. No matter what."
"Ginny, I don't know if I can tell you everything.."
"Hermione, sweetheart," Ginny said pulling them both to a stop. "No matter what you tell me, I will not change my opinion of you. You're an amazing woman, and nothing you can do will change that. I know something is going on between you and Malfoy, and I'm still here, wanting to talk to you about it."
Hermione looked at Ginny, her eyes full of tears.
"I don't even know what's happening."
"Well, why don't we go and talk about it, you can tell me everything and we can figure this out between the two of us okay?"
"Alright," Hermione said, feeling better about the whole thing.
They grabbed a table hidden away from all of the other tables, and Ginny used her wand to cast a silencing spell around them.
"What? I didn't think you would want anyone to overhear what we're talking about" Ginny said shrugging.
"You're right, I don't. Thanks"
Ginny sat down and waited patiently for Hermione to start talking.
"I don't even know how to start.." Hermione said after a few seconds.
"How about from the beginning?" Ginny said softly.
"Well, it all started when I got attacked patrolling I guess."
"Malfoy was the one who was there when it happened wasn't he?" Ginny asked.
"Yeah he was."
"Well, go on," Ginny said encouragingly.
"Well, he ended up taking me to Dumbledore's office, and Dumbledore came up with a solution to try and keep me safe."
"Yeah, he doesn't want you walking the corridors alone."
"Well, that's the first part…"
"What do you mean?"
"You have to promise me you won't tell anybody Gin. No one is supposed to know this."
"Hermione, I won't tell anyone I promise. Your safety means a lot to me and I would not do anything to put you in harms way."
"Well, I'm living with Malfoy."
Ginny's eyes bugged out of her head.
"What?"
"Dumbledore thought it would be best if I am never left alone, and since I'm a Head Girl he didn't want to move me back into the Gryffindor towers, because then it's not really like I'm a Head Girl at all, so instead he moved me into Malfoy's dorm, and we're sharing that."
"And this has been since the first attack?"
"Yes."
"Wow. I mean, that makes sense. I always wondered why you never invited us over to your dorm anymore."
"Well no one was supposed to know that I switched living conditions."
"Don't worry, I won't say anything."
"Thanks Gin," Hermione said smiling.
"So, tell me the rest."
Hermione sighed. "I don't know really. Me and him have obviously been spending more time together, and we've kissed a few times."
"What!"
Hermione's face flushed.
"Who kissed who first?"
"He kissed me."
"No bloody way!"
"I'm serious.."
"I know you are! I just can't believe it. Hermione, do you have any idea how lucky you are?!"
"What?" Hermione asked, completely dumfounded.
"You had the hottest guy in the entire school kissing you and living with you. Do you realize how many girls probably wish about that every single night?"
"I thought you hated him?" Hermione questioned.
"Oh, I'm not exactly his biggest fan or anything, as he is a complete arse, but I can appreciate a good looking man. And so can every other girl at this school. You've seen the way some girls practically throw themselves at him. It's not because he's the nicest guy at this school.."
"Girls are barbaric!"
"Says the one who is snogging him!"
Hermione flushed.
Ginny burst out laughing.
"Oh, this is priceless. You and Malfoy, who would have known?"
"Not me.." Hermione stated softly.
Ginny looked at Hermione intently. "You love him."
Hermione's head snapped up and she looked at Ginny saying quickly, "I do not!"
"Hermione, I've noticed a change in you, but I could never figure out what it was until the way I saw the two of you look at each other this morning. You've been practically glowing!"
"I have not!"
"Wait, did you two….?"
Hermione's face flushed crimson.
"YOU DID?!" Ginny exclaimed.
"I didn't say that!" Hermione squeaked.
"You don't have to, your face tells its own story."
Hermione let out a deep sigh and looked down at the table.
Ginny reached across the table, and tilted Hermione's face up so she was looking at her.
"Hermione, sweetie, don't feel bad."
Hermione sent Ginny a small smile.
"Seriously, you have no reason to."
"Ginny, he's been the worst enemy of me and my best friends for as long as I can remember, and now I'm sleeping with the enemy. Harry and Ron will never talk to me again if they find out!"
"I mean yeah, I guarantee nobody ever really saw this coming.."
"Except Blaise," Hermione said softly.
"What?" Ginny asked confused.
"Blaise has been calling it for the longest time."
"Huh. Interesting."
"What am I going to do Gin?"
"How do you feel?"
"About what?"
"About Malfoy."
"I don't know Gin, it's so confusing! I know I should hate him, but no matter what I tell myself that he's done, I just can't. I've seen a different side of him that I just can't forget about. I mean, obviously he's still a git sometimes, he is Draco Malfoy, but I don't know. It's different. It's so hard to explain."
"Not really, to me it seems like you love him."
"It doesn't matter if I love him or not, there is no possible way that the two of us can be together."
"What do you mean?"
"Ginny, he's the son of one of the worst Death Eaters, and he is more than likely going to follow in his fathers footsteps. No one would ever approve of us being together, both on his side and mine. He would never allow his reputation to be clouded because of me, which is how I know nothing will ever happen. He will be disowned by both his family and friends if he ever showed any form of caring towards me in the public eye."
"Well you know what, you have me, and even though I may not completely understand why you feel the way you do about him, I support you. I know you're a smart girl, and if you see something in Malfoy, then I trust you. And Malfoy's best friend is Zabini, who also happens to be friends with you and from the sounds of it he is being supportive of the two of you being together, or at least wanted the two of you together. So you guys do have people who will support you. And Harry and Ron are your best friends, yes they are probably going to be extremely angry about it, but I know they will eventually get over it. Harry is an understanding guy, you should give him some credit. I think if you explained everything to him he might understand. Ron is obviously going to be the harder one because he doesn't want to see you with anyone else because he does still have feelings for you. But the bottom line is that they are your best friends and they should support you because your happiness is what is most important. And if that means it's Malfoy that makes you happy then they need to get over it."
Hermione smiled at her friend, tears in her eyes. "Thanks Gin."
"No problem."
"As of right now, I don't even really know what's going on between me and Malfoy anyways. He said to just let things happen as they happen, so I guess that's what we're doing."
"Just take things one step at a time. This whole thing is probably new to him also. You don't want to push anything on him. He's probably got a million thoughts running through his head, most of them probably working against you, but yet he is still wanting to take things day by day. That is huge. Just wait and see what happens. But I'm telling you right now there is something there. Remember, I saw the two of you looking at each other this morning."
Hermione blushed.
"He was looking at you in public, where he could have been caught. He was, although he probably doesn't realize it. See Hermione, there's something there, just wait and see where it takes you."
"You make it sound so easy."
"Does he make you happy?"
"Surprisingly.. yes."
"Do you feel all giddy around him?"
"Yes."
"Do you want to continue this thing between the two of you?"
"Yes."
"Then there's your answer. Simple."
"I can't believe you're being so cool about this. I was prepared for a battle."
"Hermione, sweetie, after what my stupid brother put you through, I am happy that you've allowed yourself to give your heart to somebody else. That's huge! And besides, like I said, he is absolutely gorgeous, so I can't exactly blame you."
Hermione laughed.
"So, are all the rumors about him true?" Ginny asked quirking her eyebrow.
"What rumors?"
"That he's an absolute god in bed."
"Ginny!"
"What!? I'm curious!"
Hermione shook her head blushing.
"So he is good!"
"Well it's not like I have a whole lot to compare it to!"
"Did you get off?"
"What?"
"Did you have an orgasm," Ginny said flipping her hair.
"Yes."
"Huh."
"Ginny, it was honestly amazing," Hermione gushed, happy that she finally had someone to talk to about it all. "He was so patient with me, making sure to take the time to make sure that I was ready for him. I could feel his touches all throughout my body, it was like an electric current. And he wouldn't allow himself to finish either time without making sure that I did first."
"So I guess what people said was true. Wow."
"Yeah."
"No wonder you want to keep things going between the two of you," Ginny said with a wink.
"That is not the reason why!"
Ginny burst out laughing. "I know, I'm just teasing. But seriously, good for you."
"Thanks."
Ginny looked over at the time. "Well, curfew is coming up so we best head out. Do you want me to walk you to your dorm?"
"Well, since you know now where I'm staying I can't see the harm in it."
"And you're not supposed to be walking the corridors alone either.."
"That too. Hey Gin! Do you wanna have a sleepover?"
"Really? Am I allowed to?"
"I was never told I wasn't allowed to have people sleep over? Besides, you already know where I'm staying now so I don't see the harm in it. You're already going to be walking me to the dorm I share with Malfoy anyways, so why not?"
"I'd love to! We haven't had a girls night in a long time. It was so much easier when you were living in the Gryffindor tower.
"Okay sweet!"
"How is Malfoy going to feel about having another guest?" Ginny asked.
Hermione giggled. "I don't know, but I guess we are going to find out now aren't we?"
Ginny smirked at her friend across the table. "Hermione, I think that you being with Malfoy might be the best thing that's ever happened."
Hermione laughed.
"Seriously, you're being a bad ass!"
Hermione smiled.
"This is going to be interesting,'' Ginny said smirking. "Let's go!"
Hermione and Ginny stood up, and Hermione removed the silencing spell that they had kept up around them. She linked her arm through Ginny's, and the two of them left the library and Hermione steered them in the direction towards her and Malfoy's dorm room.
Hermione said the password, and the door swung open. The two of them entered the dorm room and found Draco sitting on one of the sofa's in the living room reading a book. He looked up when he heard the door shut, and Hermione saw the confusion in his eyes, but he masked it quickly and acted indifferent.
"Hope you don't mind Malfoy, but I'm going to be having a sleepover tonight."
"Whatever Granger, do what you want," Draco said nonchalantly.
Hermione looked at Ginny and the two of them shared a smirk, one that did not go unnoticed by Draco.
"What are you two smirking about?" Draco asked.
"Oh, nothing," Ginny said sweetly.
Draco drew his eyebrows together.
"Does Dumbledore know about your sleepover plans?" Draco questioned coldly.
"No, he doesn't. But I didn't think it would be a problem since I'm not supposed to be wandering the halls alone and Ginny was the one who walked me back here."
"You know that nobody is supposed to know that you're staying here Granger,'' Draco stated dangerously.
"You honestly think that Ginny is going to run around parading it to the entire school?"
Draco narrowed his eyes and looked at Ginny. "She had better not."
"Don't worry Malfoy, I won't. It's none of my business."
"You're right, it's not,'' Draco snapped.
Ginny smirked.
"If you needed someone to walk you back here, why didn't you tell me?" Draco asked.
"Because me and Ginny were doing some homework together in the library and lost a track of time. And I had no means as to get a message to you."
Hermione and Ginny shared a smile between the two of them again at this comment, and Draco narrowed his eyes.
He stood up from the couch and made his way over towards the two of them.
"What are you two hiding?"
"What are you talking about?" Hermione asked.
"I'm not an idiot Granger, I'm standing right here and when you two share smirks and smiles at one another I am bound to notice. So spit it out."
"We're not hiding anything."
Draco looked back and forth between the two of them.
"You're a horrible liar Granger."
"I tell her that all the time," Ginny stated.
"I wasn't talking to you Weaselette."
"We were smiling because we talked about what your reaction would be if I brought her back to the dorm. Alright? No big deal."
"Oh really?"
"Yes, really. Although, Ginny thought that you'd freak out and lose your shit, her words not mine."
Hermione looked directly at Draco, keeping a straight face, challenging him to question her.
She bit her lip, and Draco narrowed his eyes at her.
She purposely bit her lip, wanting to see what his reaction was going to be. She smirked inwardly as he noticed her biting her lip, narrowed his eyes, and then turned around and went back to the couch.
"Why would I care what you do Granger?" Draco asked in a calm voice. Too calm.
Hermione smirked, knowing why he was avoiding looking at her.
Ginny looked between the two of them, and saw the triumphant look on Hermione's face.
"Never said you did Draco. Anyways, have a good night. If you need me, you know where to find me," Hermione said heading towards her room, Ginny following behind
Draco waited for her bedroom door to shut before he let out his irritation. She had bit her lip on purpose knowing what it did to him, and knowing that he wasn't able to do anything about it while her friend was standing right there. Draco couldn't help but smirk at her boldness. He had to admit that he was surprised, and that it turned him on. And then she had called him Draco, right in front of the Weasley girl. She had never called him that before.
He had liked the sound of his name coming from her lips. No one ever really called him Draco, except the select few. He didn't know if she did it by mistake or if it was intentional. Either way, he had to admit that he had liked her saying his name, his real name.
