Last Time:
Sirius took a deep breath, “Time to bug a witch.” He said before getting under James’ cloak and applying a ‘notice me not’ spell to himself …

Severus looked around at his students, “Since it would be a waste of ingredients and take too long to go potion by potion to see each effect demonstrated we’ll be trying a different tactic in order to catch up with the original curriculum.” He explained and gestured to the large, yet oddly shallow, cauldron in the front of the class. “Does anyone know what this is? … Ms. Granger.” He said with his usual annoyed tone when Hermione wasted no time raising her hand excitedly.
“A theory cauldron.” Hermione answered so confidently that it more than bordered on smug.
“Correct.” Severus said indifferently. “Interesting that you’d know something that only appears during the sixth year in other schools.” He commented, taking great enjoyment in how tense the witch became.
Hermione gave an innocent smile, “I heard some of the sixth year students talking about it.” She said quickly hoping she covered her bases.
“Which automatically means you can identify it.” Severus said dryly, making her flinch. “Due to massive improvements in the budget this is the first year Hogwarts has had one of these intriguing cauldrons.” He commented immediately putting everything Hermione said under suspicion.
After all, how could the older students know of it if the school never had one before and this was the first class after the impromptu break? There’s no way she could’ve overheard anything about it in this school. That definitely narrowed down which school she came from so perhaps Naruto could find something. However, while it was questionable it didn’t completely expose her yet.
The potion master held up his wand and used a spell to quickly fill the cauldron with water, “Since some more advanced potions require brewing times far longer than a typical classroom period this was developed. It shows what reactions are expected as you go through a potion under various conditions, but without the large wait times in between and no real ingredients needed. Everyone, come and look.”
All of the students gathered around the low cauldron and watched curiously. Much to their surprise they saw the potion master pull out a jar labeled ‘Ink’ and set it on another jar of some ingredient in the pantry. The ink suddenly changed from white to brown and Severus brought it over to the cauldron. After tapping a rune on the cauldron two drops of the newly colored ink were dropped in and the potion began to bubble.
“The ink pretends to be the ingredient in the flask you set it on. Obviously, this is purely for demonstrating various effects. There’s no smoke or residue and you can’t actually make something.” Severus explained as he put a stirring stick in the bubbling liquid.
Draco raised his hand, “How does it account for the different ways of preparing an ingredient?”
“An excellent question.” Severus commented and glanced at Hermione. It looked like he was making sure she’d refrain from her usual desperate antics to answer the questions immediately. In reality he was hoping that she would, but the witch stayed quiet this time. “Look carefully at the sides of the cauldron. As you can see there are runes carved in the sides. If you recall I tapped the cauldron before adding the ink. By doing so I told the cauldron the following drops were diced mandrake. Now look at the recipe on the board. I’ll be calling on you all randomly and giving you the ink. Your job is to change the ink a guess what numbers of stirs are needed.”
One by one the students were called up. Seeing the various reactions, even when they were incorrect in their guess, was fun. However, Severus noticed the door to his class open and close for no reason. As much as he hated the person who snuck in he knew he had to assist Sirius.
“Ms. Granger, you’re next.” Severus ordered and Neville gave the ink to the witch.

Sirius smirked when he slipped into the classroom. Yet again, he almost went straight to Harry. Thankfully, his happy thoughts were swatted aside when he heard the dark smooth voice of Severus. For a split second he considered making a nasty face at Severus since no one could see him under the cloak. However, he immediately stopped himself when he remembered the collar. This was the last place he wanted to end up naked.
“Ms. Granger, you’re next.” The potion master said and immediately Sirius’ attention shifted to the witch, who was heading for the pantry. “Yours is the last ingredient so give a guess as to what it is.” Severus instructed more to help give the unseen idiot under a cloak a hint.
Whether Sirius actually realized it was a hint for him or not it didn’t matter. He quickly noticed the potion recipe written out on the board. With all the other ingredients on the board being crossed off it was easy to see what ingredient the witch needed.
Hermione paused before she went into the pantry not realizing that Sirius was already ahead of her, “Yes, professor. It could be a healing potion considering a couple of other ingredients used.” She answered far more carefully than before.
“Very close.” Severus said calmly while hiding his disappointment. He hoped to trick her again. “Get your ingredient and I’ll explain.”
Hermione hurried into the pantry and reached up to put the ink on the jar, “I have to be more careful.” She whispered, trying to calm down.
Not once did she suspect that there was a wizard in the pantry with her. Even more so that the wizard was Sirius and that he was smirking. The only thing she knew was that she had to get back to class. Once she realized that the ink was done changing color she reached up to grab it.
Sirius watched her go back to join the other students. Before he left as well he grabbed something that was sitting on the exact same container that Hermione put the ink on. That little thing was a single lionfish spine, which was immediately returned to its own jar with the other spines.
Before Hermione came into the pantry Sirius rearranged a couple things. First, he moved the jar with her assigned ingredient up a shelf. Second, he placed the spine on top. While that seemed like a weird idea at first it really made sense once you factor in the height of the witch.
Hermione definitely wasn’t actually the height she pretended to be but since she was stuck at that height Sirius was going to take advantage of it. She wasn’t able to see the spine on top of the jar. However, the ink took that ingredient into account when she unknowingly set the ink on the jar. Obviously, that would screw up the fake potion.
In fact, Sirius waited to leave the classroom just to watch. Granted, he only knew about these kinds of cauldrons from being an Auror. However, that was clearly enough to cause trouble.
“Here, professor.” Hermione said innocently as she came up to the cauldron.
Severus looked completely indifferent as he tapped the runes to tell the cauldron how this ingredient was prepared, “Place one drop in.”
“Yes, professor.” Hermione said before letters one drop fell into the unique cauldron.
In an instant the fake potion started bursting into fire. It startled everyone except Sirius and Severus, who was used to stupid students blowing up cauldrons. Thankfully, that meant Severus’ sharp eyes could easily watch Hermione’s movements.
“What fascinating luck you have, Ms. Granger.” Severus commented dryly as the potion suddenly shifted back to its previous state after Hermione reflexively tapped a rune on the side of the cauldron. “Even I wasn’t sure where the reverse rune was.”
Sirius bit down on his lip and refused to snicker at Severus’ comment. Instead he focused on leaving so he could get to the next class. After all, he wanted to be very careful around Mark. The best chance he had of getting in that classroom safely was when the students left so he had to hurry. After all, class ends in only a few minutes …

While under the guise of a certain werewolf, Mark smiled happily at his and Remus’ students, “That’s a great start to the week! Don’t worry if you didn't stop a ball today. This will take practice.” He said right before dismissing the class.
As the students left the room he started picking up his wand. With a swish the colorful balls on the floor floated up. Each of those balls were lowered onto the desks. When each desk had a ball the DADA professor went over to the board. He never noticed the door give an extra wiggle as an invisible person went past the last student and into the classroom.
“That went quite well though the kids did seem to have trouble with their balls.” Mark commented as he pondered how to tweak the lesson for later on.
Much to his surprise he heard something right after his comment. It sounded oddly like someone snickering. Obviously, he thought a young immature student found the ball comment funny. However, when he turned around he noticed that no one was there and the door was firmly shut meaning no one suddenly ran out.
At first he thought Remus walked in and was just under the cloak. However, if that were the case why hide. There wasn’t even anyone else there so there was no reason for the werewolf to stay quiet.
“If someone tries practicing things from this lesson they might use other items.” The fake Remus said casually as he meandered between the desks. “Perhaps I should leave the balls in the Great Hall so they can practice. It is only a shield spell, but I’d feel better knowing they can get hold of something that won’t break and hurt someone.” He said before suddenly turning sharply and weaving through another row of desks.
It might’ve seemed like the disguised Auror just ignored the noise. However, that was far from the truth. In fact, he was trying to flush out whatever made that sound. If he listened closely and used abrupt movements he could startle the possible intruder.
All Mark needed was a sign no matter how small. A shuffle of feet or gasp. Maybe the rustle of fabric. The sudden motion from someone hitting a piece of furniture. Even brushing against something soft or feeling a breeze where there shouldn’t be were all signs of someone invisible hiding nearby.
Granted, there’s a chance he was being a little paranoid after everything that has happened since he got to Hogwarts. Finding out the former headmaster was corrupt and had deadly traps in the school. Discovering things like that would put anyone on edge. Despite knowing that he refused to take a chance with children arriving soon.
Mark casually took a couple colorful balls off some desks, “Perhaps a change in today’s lesson is in order.”
In an instant he used his wand to create a blast of air. Many things were blown back, even desks. As an added touch, Mark laced some stunning spells into the wind. The breeze shot him towards the door before anyone, if there was such a person, could even hope to react. In barely a second Mark shot out the door and slammed it shut. Just to be secure he spelled the door shut and whispered a spell so the windows in the classroom would lock down.
“If anyone is in there they’re trapped now.” Mark whispered under his breath. He was a bit breathless, but gathered himself very quickly when he heard his students heading down the hall. “Good to see everyone is almost here! There’s going to be a slight change of plans.”
Hermione raised an eyebrow curiously, “So what’s going to happen?” She all but demanded.
Harry twitched in amusement as the witch actually tried to be rude to the professor. (She’s not helping herself stay hidden.) He thought, but then sensed someone in the usual classroom. (Dammit. Hey Naruto, is Sirius trapped in the DADA classroom?)
(Yes … once class starts I’ll get him.) Naruto responded through the mental link.
“Now calm down, Hermione.” The Remus look a like commented calmly. After a quick headcount showed that everyone was present he held up the balls he managed to grab from the room before he locked it up. “After doing this exercise with the first class I decided that this might be easier.”
Instead of explaining further the professor threw a ball against the wall of the hallway. Obviously, the confused students watched the ball inevitably bounce back. However, the awestruck students’ eyes grew wide when the ball bounced off an unseen wall in front of the professor.
Mark smiled as he picked up the ball, “Anyone want to guess what this lesson will be about?”
“Shield spells!” Hermione yelled excitedly, effectively startling everyone since no one expected her to yell so loudly.
Harry blinked in shock, (Why the hell is she so excited?)
Mark nodded cheerfully, “Correct! Normally this isn’t taught until your last year, but it seemed silly to wait.” Mark said and Harry immediately understood why Hermione was so intrigued. It’s very possible that she’s old enough to recognize a theory cauldron, but isn’t old enough to have had this lesson yet. “Now let’s begin!”
As the class continued Mark kept an eye on the classroom door. Just to be sure that there was an intruder he decided to have Remus check for any unusual scents. They agreed to switch out for lunch anyway so it won’t be long now.
In fact, Remus was waiting to switch with him by the time he got back to their shared living quarters, “We have some time before lunch so let’s switch and investigate something first.”
Remus raised an eyebrow, “What happened?”
“I think I have someone invisible trapped in the DADA classroom.” Mark explained as he shifted back into his original form.
“What?!” Remus gasped in shock. “Is anyone hurt?” He asked as he practically threw the cloak to Mark.
Mark shook his head, “No one is hurt and no one knows. Honestly I’m not positive that it wasn’t my imagination, but I heard a snicker when alone in that room.” He said pointedly as he disappeared under the cloak.
“Say no more.” Remus exclaimed as he got his wand ready. “It’s best to check.” He said and they hurried towards the DADA classroom.
As carefully as possible the door was unlocked. The invisible Mark opened the door and slipped in first. In that moment Remus’ eyes widened as he recognized Sirius’ scent.

Sirius huffed in annoyance, “I guess I needed more than a ‘notice me not’ to fool this guy.” He muttered under his breath as he listened to the thumps of balls hitting walls from inside the locked classroom. “How do I get out?”
“I’ll help.” Naruto said out of nowhere making Sirius jump. Before Sirius could do anything else he was picked up by the bounty hunter. In an instant they were back in Severus’ living quarters. Of course, Sirius wasn’t happy about needing help, but he had no idea how he’d have gotten out otherwise. “Thanks.” Sirius muttered sulkily.
“Don’t mention it. Just lay low until Remus talks to Mark. I think he might be able to convince Mark to pay more attention to Hermione if I tweak some things.” The ninja disguised as a bounty hunter said right before vanishing from sight.
Sirius waited exactly 5 minutes before getting back under Harry’s invisibility cloak and heading out to continue his task despite his earlier screw up.
